I'll pass you an idea that I came up while in Alaska with the USAF. Shoot "Poker" Print a paper or use real cards, set 'em up at 25 yds, then the first shooter, the one on "pole position" shoots 5 rounds to make a "hand"... if he misses one, then he has less cards. Put the "good" cards surrounded by "bad" cards so if you miss an ace you may end up with a low card. At the end, the best hand wins.

Just a personal observation regarding round ball vs conical. I have a 1970's era reproduction 1858 Remington that I fire mostly round ball through. Due to my lazyness, I've used the swaged, sprueless balls for years. In the past I've tried conicals that were given to me, but they were very inaccurate. I purchased your mold for the Johnston and Dow bullet and tried them. Compared to the round ball, they were not as accurate, but much better than previous one. I've been shooting at a public range at 25yds at paper plates: round ball I can keep on the plate, J&D bullets have more fliers. Of course that could be me! Just an obsevation

You need to swage your barrel to find the exact size conical you need then fire your Rifled-musket with different loads of powder to determine how many grains are most accurate. Get with an experienced N-SSA team and they can help with the mechanics of it all. That Remington Zouave should become one of the most accurate firearms in your house then. That is me in the blue-grey Kepi shooting the Smith carbine.

Contact them and form a team in your area, despite the map there are members all over the world . I shot next to a Confederate from Japan one year. Excellent guy. Met a Union female Korean too. One of my favorite people in the U.S.A. Is a female, Jewish confederate from New York City who is a yoga teacher. Don’t be fooled by the regional shoots, the N-SSA is a big blue & Grey rainbow of people from all walks of life only connected by their extremely good manners, love of civil war weapons and family like love of each other. Great people, very accepting.

@@erasgonehistoricalmolds2400 MArk....with the demonization of guns by democrats, anti gun people, anti-gun indoctrination in schools, the denial of civil war history, much less the arms....and even though percussion firearms are not considered firearms.....how do we introduce kids and young people to this historic, interesting, enjoyable activity? Oh....and California wants to BAN all lead and lead based ammo. If we allow the anti-gunner to continue to get their way, pretty soon well lose all of our gun rights or all guns will fall under the NFA 1934.

Eras Gone Bullet Molds I am 26 and into historical stuff(since I was a little kid) like this and shoot lots of cap n ball. Just no one else my age in my area is it seems(super anti gun NJ). I haven’t found anything like this in my area it gets pretty lonely sometimes reading through historical things and shooting these guns no one seems to care about. My two closest friends are into history but not as much And in depth as guys like you, Mike beliveau or I.
