I watched this movie so many times and only now realize that Dave Franco got the Death card and he “dies” during the movie… great easter egg/detail

It's not often you come across a movie written so well about a magic act that even watching the movie made us as the audience of the magic act woven into the story. It was excellently done. Well done, ladies. You just made my day with your delight.

The opening trick is one of the simplest in “magic”, the magician already knows which card he wants you to see, so when shuffling through the deck he slows down on the 7 of diamonds so thats the one you remember most clearly

The trick to it is that there's a half of a card (a card that's been cut in half) that's been placed in front of the target card. It's positioned specifically on the bottom area so that the spectators won't see it of course. The reason for that is so that when a magician shuffles through the deck in that way, the target card (in that case, 7 of diamonds) would be shown just a millisecond longer than the rest of the cards. Reason why anyone who had seen him shuffle would surely think of 7. It's also the reason why magicians never offer to let any spectators touch nor shuffle the deck before they do that trick, coz the deck that they're using for that trick has been cheated lol

The most common method I've seen is to literally just have multiple 7 of diamonds. That is the easiest way to force the card in that scenario in my experience because its the only card the spectator even has a chance of seeing.

@@terrorazeing This effect can be done with an ordinary deck of cards - no cards need to be gimmicked. In fact, a spectator could shuffle the deck, and it wouldn't take the magician too long to set up the card they wish to have shown...

Isla Fisher almost drowned during escape from the water filled box, and if you look closely, you can actually see the fear on her face.

Apparently that's one of the reasons she declined to do the sequel a shame because that was one of several reasons the film didn't quite live up to this one. Not that it's a bad movie but like the later terminator sequel's the plot had to be twisted like a pretzel to justify making it.

This movie is a little gem many people still haven't discovered. So much fun, so well thought, so well made, so well presented. In a way it reminds me of the Ocean's trilogy, pure genius in service of screwing with as many (bad) people's minds (and bank accounts) as possible. Very smart people using their brains to play other smart people like fools, for some reason that concept releases a lot of good chemicals in my little brain 😄 The second one is good too in its own way, but it received the "Fast and Furious treatment", the main theme (magic) goes a bit in the background in favor of more straight forward action.

"Now you see me 2" is as good! Ilsa is replaced by Lizzy Caplan, but she really brings some Sass to it! Melanie Laurent is in an other action movie along the Same Genre, with Ryan Reynolds "Underground 6"... ... And then there's Danny OCEAN!

The sequel not only builds on this movie but fill out some of the things that are alluded to or introduced in this movie. The interpersonal relationships in the second movie add another dimension to the things in this movie.

I had a crush on Dave Franco after watching this movie.. 😍

The movie literally starts with a visual trick on the audience with the 7 of diamonds. That moment on, I was hooked! One of my biggest inspirations as a Magician

I found myself saying three words constantly at this movie "Those. MAGNIFICENT. *BASTARDS!"*

Now you see me part 1 is still one of my favorite movies of all time. It's just that awesome right from the beginning till the end

These movies are so great. I love how intricate the tricks are. Amazing cast too. Also was a great reaction and you 2 will love the second movie!!

@@charlienerd They decided against it as it would have limited them to two films... only for them to abandon making a third for about 8 years as apparently the third is in the works at the moment.

That fish tank scene during filming in 1 take she got trapped inside it and the ppl recording thought she was just acting untill 1 of the stunt/safety cordinators noticed that it took longer then intended and they activated an emergency release for the stunt.

Isla Fisher almost died making this movie. The stunt that she did at 2:55 looked like she was really drowning because she was. There was a malfunction with a release and she was actually drowning. They managed to get her out in time (obviously) but used the take.

That trick in the beginning only let's you see the 7 card.

Such a great movie. One of those ones that you want to immediately re-watch to try and pick up all the clues.

"Cheap and meaningless but not time consuming." Self deprecation really is the key to charm.

I lately learned Isla Fisher was really starting to drown in that water tank scene after her chain got stuck. They kept rolling and used that take in the movie.

Describing it like that makes it sound like they all knew she was trapped which is absolutly not the case. She was supposed to act like she panicked and most of the production crew just thought she was acting untill 1 of the stunt/safety cordinators noticed that it took abit longer then intended and activated an emergancy release. They may have used part of that take as she legit was panicking. But no chans they would have kept the stunt going if they knew she wasent acting.

The trick is, you put two of the card you want people to see (7 in this case) in the deck right next to each other. That way it shows slightly longer than the other cards when you quickly flip through them.

A very clever, twisty movie. Definitely rewatchable. Great cast.

All I left out was that not every law enforcement agency submits their information to Interpol and none of the agencies have to help other law enforcement agencies if they don’t have a need to. I literally just watched the movie for the first time at the beginning of the year. Also watched lord of the rings and Harry Potter for the first time last year. Not everyone one grew up with cable TV or had access to the cinema growing up. Somethings you think are popular are totally alien to others.

So it's hard to believe that they didn't watch such famous Hollywood movies. Also, theatres were always there even if some people didn't have cable at home.

The overarching twist of this movie is it's actually really good! It was for me anyway. And the sequel is good too.

LOOOVE this movie, definitely one of my comfort movies! I think one of my fave scenes is the one on the plane cause it took me at least 2-times watching the movie to catch that it's all an act. Like, the jealousy is in part at least real I think, but they all play of of it, the whole we have show to prepare for and everything is all scripted, but it fits so well into their personalities that it's hart to catch the first time around

This first movie was AMAZING. However, the sequel sadly had a significant number of continuity problems from the first one. WITH THAT SAID. Enjoy the second one solely for Daniel Radcliffe's absolutely UNHINGED acting lmao.

Honestly, idk why, but the sequel kinda lost the magic of the first one. And the biggest atrocity of the sequel was that it wasn't named "Now You Don't"

Great reactions to this awesome film. However, in my opinion, while Now You See Me is a superb movie, the sequel has to be one of the worst movies ever made and actually ruins everything about the original. So my advice would be to avoid Now You See Me 2, or best yet, imagine it has just disappeared, in a puff of smoke. :)

As much as I dislike Isla Fisher in real life, she was great in this.
