Wes Barker is a magician and comedian doing funny tricks, and telling great stories. Watch here for hilarious magic, stunts, and pranks. I am the funniest magician that is also a stand-up comic, or maybe I'm the comic who is best at magic. Either way you get the idea. I tour all over doing colleges, comedy clubs, and corporate events. Catch the adventures and tricks right here. With this magician / comedian based out of Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. I make funny stuff. That’s my only rule. Everything has to be funny, from street magic to stage illusions, as long as there is a joke to be made. I do magic tricks, sketches, stand-up comedy, card tricks, mind reading, and tricks with naked people. I’ve been on America’s Got Talent, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, MTV Greatest Party Stories Ever, and Wizard Wars. You can find me pulling pranks on friends, gags on strangers, or just general sleight of hand, magic, illusions, and the occasional bar bet.

    I'm actually surprised you guys missed it, but at 8:10 for the Now You See Me 2 clip, you can see Woody Harrelson fake a cough, pick something up with his lip which is presumably a suction cup, magnet, or adhesive patch attached to the string, and plant it on the card. You can see the black mark appear a bit away from the index label of the card. It's the ace of spades, so you know that there should be no other marking on the card except for the spade design and the two index labels on the corners. Give it another look-see and you'll notice it now. I'm sure that the string trick probably still couldn't work, even in a straight line like the arms would present. The biggest problem, in my opinion, is whether the string would be able to remain stuck to the card under that level of pulling force. Anywayyy, great video guys. Loved it.

    In case you're curious it's magic wax. Real stuff, and pretty awesome stuff to play with a dirt cheap. It's sticky wax that leaves no residue and is typically clear or "skin tone" to blend in with stuff. It's for sticking cards together, attaching magic thread, and that kinda stuff.

  • @ForestSen

    The only other reason I would think it wouldn’t work is that he would have had to have that string set up in that way ahead of time to even use it. Maybe he did but to have string that tight in that manner just waiting to be used doesn’t seem very plausible. Not impossible I guess.

    The setup is possible, the execution is far-fetched, to say the least. The card would have to be pulled perfectly into his caff, past Woody's shoulder blades, and through both his sleeves without getting twisted or hung up on any folds of material, seams, body parts or anything else while only attached at 1 spot with an adhesive that comes off fairly easy; all the while being smooth and fast enough to whip over to Jesse's hand so it can be caught between his fingers... It's a mouthful I know... sorry

    What I personally really like about the Now You See Me 2 one is the way the woman (can’t remember the name) uses social norms and social rules. The way she reacts to the guard trying to check her bra is a really good way of getting the guards to back off a bit and the way she passes the card to the guard is easily brushed off as “she’s still mad about the bra thing”. It’s really well done; enforce a boundary, thus making the guard awkward, then doing the “eyes up here” to follow up with that, implying her anger and also making her behaviour here have a clear pattern, and ending with the “how do you like it” which is, as I mentioned, easily brushed off and a continuation of the eyes part. It’s an amazing use of gender norms and femininity.

  • @Khrn-lk4mf

    @Khrn-lk4mf

    And its even more well done as the guards are of different culture, so they wouldnt know wether she's acting suspicious, or if she's gender roling from her own culture

    6:42 "This throw is horseshit" - I knew it! I don't know anything about how sleight of hand works, and I was convinced that throw was impossible when I saw it! The rest of the scene I could pretty much buy, and it's fun seeing these guys break it down for how much is real and how much is Hollywood.

    Neil has explained that he actually learned a specific "crap magic" for Barney Stinson on HIMYM, so he looks very amateurish and kinda bad at magic. It's a running joke on the show that he's constantly starting fires, hiding magic doodads, having accidental mis-fires with actual fire... etc. He got into magic because a guy who owned a magic shop was totally not banging his mom. They were just practicing magic in her bedroom, the amazing "Dissapearing Salami" trick of fable. So yeah... he's supposed to be bad at magic. That's the joke. You see it from a mile away and he always does that silly stance and the others always know the fire is coming and often flinch first or try to stop him. They even have an intervention for his fire magic because he burned the apartment.

    Great guy! Army buddy of mine was going through a tough time and on his flight back from home to base, he met this guy sitting next to him. He did his best to cheer him up and he managed to do so.. Wes later asked him to hang out after their flight to make sure he was good afterwards. He invited me and couple other friends to join them in Fredericton, N.B right before his show. We hung out at the snooty fox restaurant and he was just a great guy. Hilarious dude. Very kind man.

    @@Reeveyz07 the characters were passing the card back and forth unnecessarily, the guards were oblivious in an unbelievable way, but the worst part was how the card was flying around the room in a way that was obviously fake, it was moving around under clothes and sticking to the bottom of shoes. There are plenty of legit ways to hide a playing card but they chose to go with this over the top special effect stuff that only helped to ruin the scene
