Now Westlin Winds - Burns
Музыка
Burns wrote this in his early teens, Describing the happy times he had after bringing in the harvest and enjoying the autumn weather.
Written in 1783, the first version I heard was by the great Dick Gaughan. I particularly love singing this song after the Edinburgh fringe festival.
Enjoy.

Beautiful! One to add to the collection. Still getting my fingers and head around it.
Really enjoy the way your style and voice gives gravity and respect to the tune. Cheers
Beautifully done!👏
Superbly played Ciaran, this is as good as the original by Dick Gaughan, very well played.
I think this is now the definitive version.
Beautiful 👌
A beautiful song beautifully done
Brilliant
Great job!
Beautifully sung, Ciaran.
Really well done, Ciaran!
Cannot deal with the fact I've been living without this cover in my life. your voice is gorgeous!
Well performed Ciaran. No doubt by now someone will have told you that Burns was 24, when he wrote it.

I've been told everything from 14 to 29. He was young. Thats what I'm sticking with

@@ciaran_mcghee_music No problem with that but I have read the definitive date in his early papers (I had access to those in many years ago when they were kept in the cottage museum). At least being general about it means that you don't have to remember a load of dates so that is not a bad idea.
Ciaran - Wonderful rendition of a great song. What chords are you using?

Joe Storrie I am in a tuning called DADGAD, outside all of the flashy stuff I'm playing basically 4 chords and only hinting at others. Head over to my Facebook and drop my page a like. Il be happy to do a step by step guide to the first verse.
Love it Ciaran, anyone know the DADGAD tab for this?

Here is my attempt at the intro and a few bars into the verse. Sadly I'm stumped at sussing out the rest of the chords. u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZ1CW8XZ3cfDUhR4NALUgANUUwFClp1CumgV
