Personally i like defense grid 1 and 2 it has a good difficulty level some maps are just open area where the path the enemies take is decided by where you place your towers

PixelJunk Monsters is my favorite tower defense of all time and this one looks pretty dang good in comparison so might have to give it a try.

It is very rare to see grand strategy game with multi-layered gameplay mechanic nowadays. Combining procedurally generated terrain, tower defense, with gamification elements, nice and simple graphics focusing on the gameplay possibilities instead of high end graphic, really brings back what a game supposed to be, just like in the old days, and to some extent, the grand game of all called real life.
