You've never experienced building on this scale. With deep simulation and a living economy, Cities: Skylines II delivers world-building without limits.
Lay the foundations for your city to begin. Create the roads, infrastructure, and systems that make life possible day to day. It's up to you - all of it.
How your city grows is your call too, but plan strategically. Every decision has an impact. Can you energize local industries while also using trade to boost the economy? What will make residential districts flourish without killing the buzz downtown? How will you meet the needs and desires of citizens while balancing the city's budget?

    Yeah, everyone loves these Cities Skylines games, but imo both the gameplay and the simulation itself are not very good. We need a modern SimCity in the same style as SC4 and SC3k

    @@UncleUncleRj The question I've asked myself repeatedly, is if there's enough people like you and me to justify making a decent game. And by 'modern' does that mean it needs photo-realistic graphics?

  • @UncleUncleRj

    @UncleUncleRj

    6 ай бұрын

    @@tristanridley1601 SimCity does not need photo-realism, better graphics are just the cherry on top- modern just means two things - it has to work on a modern PC (SC4 cannot without work well without hacks) and since modern PCs can handle WAY more than a 90's or early 00's PC, the game can be updated to do so much more, like have an improved simulation engine. SC was just plain fun. However, they kinda ruined the series with SimCity 2013 because they strayed so much from the formula.

    @@tristanridley1601 The only chance it has, I think, is a niche game with mediocre graphics. But that's ok; the people who just "play" cities skylines like it's a really bad version of blender for making pictures wouldn't be interested in the more complex model anyway. So basic stylized graphics would be completely fine.(TBH, I'd probably be fine with just isometric pixel art, but these days basic 3D is probably cheaper.)

    The slight bump on the hill awakens me from my slumber. I blink my eyes in disbelief as tears begin to well up. We've crossed the last cut-back before the final station. Only mere hours to go! I begin to comb my impressive beard and spit-clean my glasses. I pull my fingers through my grease-knotted hair in preparation for my first day of work. Soon. So soon. I hope my wife and children are well. The horrid smell of the cramped tram, devoid of privacy or restrooms, has seeped into my jacket, stained through from my sweat and other bodily fluids. The other patrons of the public transportation system in the city all waver, bobbing slightly to the motion of the tram, corpse-like as we slide along the track. Soon.

    In Germany, Switzerland and The Netherlands the integrated timed-transfer or pulse timetable is used to coordinate transfers from one line to another. The concept is that vehicles should arrive simultaneously at certain pulse points acting as transfer hubs. A clockface timetable has vehicles arriving/departing at consistent intervals often at frequency of an integer per hour.

    This reminds me of a time when I was a kid, and I used to play a game called Stronghold Crusaders, and in it I would decrease the tax to 0%, and it was even possible to pay them to live there, then I'd add a bunch of "nice things" as the game called it, which simply boosted morale of all the citizens, and soldier units. They would then proceed to be "happy" and not require other things such as "food", which I could tell you became outrageously annoying to upkeep. So then you could just forever last in a siege from inside the castle, without worrying about food shortages, and simple sell things. There was also a glitch in the game where you could build walls around production areas, so the units would be stuck inside working, and place the ox tethers (the transfer of good produced to warehouses) inside your castle, meaning nobody got hurt, so long as you kept the production building closed by walls.

    Capitalism as a term was actually invented by early socialists so just using that term concedes a major point to socialists. The term implies that the system is somehow focused on capital and therefore unequal wealth distribution and exploitation when in reality what they called capitalism is really just economic individualism meaning nothing more than respecting private property. In short, 19th century socialists gave a biased name to their previously unnamed enemy.@@quincykunz3481

    Once again, in an attempt to create a dystopia, Spiff has accidentally created the perfect society. If it takes most of a single day just to get to work, and you have to go back home after every day of work, the highest number of days you can actually hypothetically work is 3, 2 if you still get weekends. No wonder everyone is happy, you've given everyone 4-5 days off a week! And they still have to be paid well enough to keep coming to work. Perfectly balanced!

    I'm not sure how it would work, but I'd love to see a city-planning collab between LGIO, Spiff, RealCivilEngineer, and maybe RTGame and/or CallMeKevin. Maybe they each spend like 45mins-an hour starting a city and then hand it off to the next person until everyone has had played with each city and seeing the results. Bonus points if they delete as little as possible so they can all recognize the parts they "contributed" (good or bad). I remember Spiff doing something kind of like that as a promotion for (I think?) Two-Point Campus? It was a lot of fun seeing everyone's take on stuff.
