Novigrad - Music & Ambience - Witcher 3

Ойындар

No one can claim to have traveled the Northern Realms who has not been to Novigrad. If I were forced to list what during my many meanderings has made the greatest impression on me, it would be precisely this great, and yet at the same time free, city.
A metropolis worthy of the Empire, its only flaw is that the civilization Nilfgaard carries within her has not yet enlightened it. That is why hordes of reactionary cultists of the Eternal Fire dwell in the midst of its excellent buildings and superb commercial infrastructure. One feels as though superstition is how the local Hierarch and his temple guard cement their power over the city dwellers. And many they are to control, for the city counts no less than thirty thousands of inhabitants.
While strolling through its fabulous port, surrounded by marvels of architecture, it is hard to imagine that centuries ago Novigrad was a mere minor elven townstead. When the city fell into the hands of the Nordlings, its problems grew exponentially, for as is well known the people of the North can do a great many things, but peaceful and orderly cohabitation is not one of them. And so Novigrad first belonged to Redania, and then fell under Temerian rule, until finally, after endless compromises and bargains, it at last became a Free City.
But is the city truly free? I dare to doubt it. Redanian influence makes itself felt too strongly on every street corner, and the fact that the city is located within Radovid's territory speaks for itself...
While wandering the city's streets I came across four water mills, eight banks and nearly nineteen pawn shops. There are also a great many houses of simple pleasures such as taverns and brothels, and Novigrad's commitment to matters of faith is borne witness to by the fact that the city contains no less than - I kid you not - nineteen temples to the Eternal Fire!
What more can be said... I think Novigrad has all the makings of the capital of the world, and perhaps that is what it will one day become. First, however, someone needs to bring order to within her walls.
- Excerpt from the book "Pearls of the North - Novigrad"
Music for The Witcher 3 video game and its DLCs, “Hearts of Stone” and “Blood and Wine,” was composed by Marcin Przybyłowicz, Mikolai Stroinski, Percival (band), Percival Schuttenbach, and Piotr Musiał.
A number of shots were achieved using Absolute Camera mod by pMarK.

    What I loved most about Novigrad was how the atmosphere would change throughout the day and into the night. A street corner that once had a preacher giving a sermon in the afternoon, come nightfall would have drunks and whores revelling in the street. It all just gave it this life like feeling that no other fantasy game has ever managed to do.(I'm talking to you Skyrim)

  • @shrekwazowski8199

    @shrekwazowski8199

    Nickolas Kupper in Skyrim it’s much more boring than Witcher 3. There is never a change in atmosphere, so it gets quite boring at times. And don’t even get me started in Skyrim’s regular battle music. It’s just a few empty notes. And Skyrim is too bland. The cities don’t even feel alive. Everyone feels like NPCs, as they are. But in Witcher 3 they feel real. In Skyrim they just keep saying “Need something?” and a few other quotes. It’s annoying. And the cities don’t even feel like cities in Skyrim. They’re too small. Even Riften, the biggest city, is small. In Witcher, they’re larger and feel like cities. Witcher 3 feels way more alive than Skyrim ever could.

I can and will never get tired of this game and I’m still to this day finding little secrets or quests that spawn randomly etc. It will forever be a part of me and the music definitely has a very special place in my heart. This game is the best game to ever exist and I’ve played many incredibly games in my life…. But this, this is art. Everything is perfect, even the little glitches like our little teleporting roach 🐴❤️ ( love her hahah ) Thank you for this beautiful, beautiful Game. Thank you for this huge part of my life. I'm 31 and I've been a gamer since Half-Life 1 came out which was before you were born... And still I'd say The Witcher-3 is one #1 on my list of most immersive games. It's not perfect esp. in the combat and character levelling part - the levelling doesn't mesh with the lore at all. There are mods which fix that though. I've finished W-3 in 2016 and should probably start another playthrough soon...

    Ah... So many memories. I love this game. Sadly I can't find my Witcher 3 copy (which came with both expansions.). I don't know what happened to it, whether I simply misplaced it or if it was somehow chewed by my dogs or if it was stolen by one of my siblings and given to someone else. It saddens me cause I have so many memories with that game, it's impacted me a lot. You know, sentimental value and whatnot. If I'm not able to find it I suppose I'll have to buy another one when I'm able to. Aggravates me that I didn't take care of what I was blessed with.

    bro, sometimes the only reason i play games like (for instance WoW) is music and ambience of locations. Composers making music for game industry are geniuses!

    Novigrad must be among the cities in all video games with the best athmosphere. First time entering through the city walls, through the narrow streets and over to the Hierarch square, and continuing the main quest you just hope it never ends. So much fun, and all in such a small area. Must say my best memories of the game are from Novigrad

    I played only main game, havent start a DLC. Was thinking few times about starting from the begining again and do everything with expansions but always think I don't have enought time. You wanna sink in that game for hours daily not only once or twice in weekend :/ Towns and vilagges are the most alive from all games I ever played. You can simply walk, stand around as a Geralt and watching people walking by, day waking up and turning into evening then night. Everything in that game is soo alive and natural. sunrise and sundowns are magical
