It really blows my mind the effect hikaru has on these players. I know they'd all crush me but he makes it look so easy to just roll over them, yet a 3000 is never going to blunder a one-move or two-move tactic to me. I guess that's bullet though, he just throws pressure at people while having unbreakable defenses and they falter at some point.

they should just put a piece of tape over the opponents name or something But its probably also a case of top players noticing and capitalising on blunders more.

​@@dessertstorm7476 it's both I guess. In classical and rapid chess it's Magnus, in bullet it's Hikaru. Besides the effect their names carry, they can instantly sense blunders and even slight mistakes from their opponents 95% of the time.

I really don't get people playing for cheap tricks 🤷‍♂I mean are you expecting to win the event like that? Would you even be satisfied? I've seen a couple 2800+ players doing that stuff too... I'm glad Hikaru's not falling for that, and can't deny that I feel a little better when he proceeds to demolish their souls afterwards (they don't have the common sense to resign either)

I’m only a lowly 1400 in bullet but I take great pleasure in beating people that do stuff like that while down a queen or two pieces or whatever. They are usually not very good players who play for cheap tricks.

@@TheCheckmater64 I don't think we should pick a 'half time score' of a tournament. Hikaru was dominating in every format, it's just that magnus got the better of him in the last matches. Anyone can judge that. Let's not forget, Hikaru lost by a single point in this SCC (2023) And he won against magnus in SCC 2022, by two points. They are very close too each other in terms of speed chess. Imo, Hikaru has a psychological problem against magnus, and magnus has a psychological problem in speed chess against MVL.
