One extra tip for gauge swatches and ensuring fit: do the measurements after you have washed and blocked your gauge swatch as you intend to wash your finished garment.

I love your introduction and now the gauge segment. Oh boy I'm really guilty not doing gauge swatches before knitting a project. I've been knitting for over 40 years and in the back of my mind its just annoys me wasting yarn. Maybe I'll it some day soon. Onto your next episode.

Some folks have great success not swatching. I am not one of those people haha. If it works for you, I would just stick with your process :)
