She fell for him because he gave her the one thing she was lacking, and that was freedom. It was foreign to her and by asking her to lay in the road with him and yes being reluctant at first but then deciding to shows this.

Wow perfectly said. I guess this is what I am missing from my life and why I resonate so much with this movie.

god, i love this film. it's like you know just thinking about the film that it makes you feel good but you can't really remember all the reasons why, then you watch it or just a small and simple part like this and you realize its those small things like when he laughs while asking her why she's laughing that make it so real and so meaningful. like there really could be a love where you can just be your honest and dorky self, comfortable with the way it should be.

@Karah Charette I mean...call me cynical or something, but I'd rather like to call myself a detractor, but...while I don't think this movie was awful like other people have said, there are a lot of really awkwardly placed scenes in this movie, and I think the moment right before it is one of them. I could only say that I'm glad that Ryan Gosling picked more creatively fruitful roles than this. I'll say that the laugh from McAdams did feel genuine in that moment, but I really don't think that many of the other emotions in this movie was that genuine. It's also not really that dorky. For one, it's not really the most realistic time period to see that many dorky people, and two...it does start to border on kinda dangerous. Had they not defined his character a little bit better or given him as good an actor as Gosling, it does kinda border on Edward from Twilight levels of red flags. Actually the strange thing was that Tom Cruise was going to be the lead, and Steven Spielberg was going to be the directors.

This movie reminds me so much of my ex and I. We met when we were 15. We just recently broke up a month ago at 24… it hurts but I’m going to leave at the hands of the universe and hope we both come out better.

I can relate to this . I married the first boy I ever snuck out to go see at 14. We ran away and got married at 19 and had a daughter. Sadly we split up but I still think of him everyday and I feel like Allie’s mom who regrets losing the love of my life
