I have a 5150 III and I still want one of these. I like how they gave the clean channel its own gain, volume and EQ. It allows you to dial in a really clean clean that sounds completely different from your dirty channels. The two assignable effects loops also bring a myriad of possibilities to the table.

That gate was a good move. Well done peavey!
I laughed myself stupid when you said "It has two boost controls..." And then I realized... that's brilliant!
Peavey needs to get a little more love in general from the music community. Their amps are unique, and every one I had was extra durable.

I second this for all the bass players. I mean, for the real ones, not the useless cunts. My students get to play over a old TMax head with a TVX 410 cab, and I am rocking a Vb3 with a Tecamp L 810. Great amps, both of 'em. The old stuff is reliable a.f., talking old bass- and guitar amps.

I think the reason Peavey doesn't get much love these days is because they moved the manufacturing to China, but kept the Made in USA price tag on the products. If people want amps made in China there's a lot of good alternatives that are much cheaper.

I had a little Peavey Decade that I found in a burned down garage. Used it for years, it fell off cabinets, fell out of my window to the sidewalk once, and only finally died when I drunkenly ninja kicked it down a hill. Peavey has always been, at the least, the most durable stuff, and sounds great.

Only when they improve their QC. I’ve had two 6505+ amps that have been nothing but trouble, and I’d never try to tour with one.
I actually didn’t knew that Peavey still makes stuff... neat! Remember they were the biggest brand mid 80s to mid 90s. 😃
Woaw, that gate is so smooth

I might be in the minority here, but I greatly prefer the 5150. I think the gate and the 1/2 power on the Invective are great, but to me it always sounds like an amp sim. If you're into the whole djent thing, it's killer, but alas I'm not. To me the 5150 seems a bit more organic I suppose. Just MY opinion.
My boi trey just came from the left field in a glenn video never expected that

Great demo!
Always liked Peavey. They have always had great gain channels comparative to the times and tech.

I agree on all points. Especially that it sounds best with post gains turned up. Would you be willing to compare it side by side with a 5150? With the Invective’s master boost on and its post gains at/above 3:00 I thought they sounded nearly identical at similar gain settings, though I had to tame the high end on the Invective a bit.
Sounds pretty darn good.
As a Peavey endorses artist that heavily relies on my 6505, I can say the invective destroys the 6505/5150

Man that mix was insane
Hey Glenn, I have an amp-related question. I see a lot of videos out there talking about what to look for when buying an expensive tube head, and even more videos covering what to look for in small combo amps for beginners, but comparatively little advice in between those two extremes. What advice would you give to someone shopping around in the $500-$1000 price range? Are cheaper tube heads worth considering, or are higher end solid state amps the way to go? Or is it better to just save up some more and go for a more expensive tube head (also factoring in the cost of a cabinet)? Sorry if you've gone over this before, I only recently discovered your channel and have been binging your videos the last week or two. Keep up the good work!

Unpopular opinion, the clean sounded the best solo but in a mix the amp sounded great
The staging reminds me of the Randy Rhodes Marshal head he modified and they did a tribute in white.
Do you think this is the future of amps? Having effects like a noise gate and overdrive built in, I mean. It'd be pretty crazy to start seeing people ditch their pedal boards because amps just start having the effects built into them.

You should defo do more comedy skits like the first time in a holly wood studio, and maybe a guide on what to do your first time in a studio
Was that Dimebag playing on the full mix example? It sounded enough like him.
I would love to see you check out the cab and ab it with your coffee cab
Love the amp tone, hated that snare! Can you re-amp the snare? Hahahaaaaa I enjoyed every thing else!
Hey Glenn! The Invective MH just got launched and i am very interested if i could use it as a direct to FOH solution without a cab. As far as is understand it has a dummy box integrated. Since you already have the big one in your studio a comparison would kick ass! Thanks for your teachibgs Glenn Meister :D \m/
did you ever tested the first version of the peavey triple xxx? to me seems a underrated amp and i am not understanding what's wrong on it. i have and i love that amp
Why not make the noise gate and overdrive parts modular? In my opinion it would've been cooler to have two 1/4 in jacks at different points in the amp for noise gates and ODs. That way you could throw in a nice noise gate and OD that you've already spent an arm and a leg for without having to worry about one more part of the amp failing later on down the line and would keep the price of the amp itself down. At least it would bring a different meaning to the term 'pedal platform'
Southern California guy: "So cold, gotta layer up." Canadian guy: "So warm, shorts and t-shirt for me". Gotta add I'm a Texas coast wimp here. I get cold in November and don't warm until it gets above 90, which should be any day now.
Hammet vibes from that guitarist. good shit, dude

I love those Kiesel guitars. Not only do they sound awesome and look cool, but they look like 'play easy'...You guys know what I mean. I have never had the chance to really play one, do to being cursed with being left handed. I have played since I was 12..and I am now 38, so after 26 years of playing, I figure that it is too late to force myself to learn to play right handed. Although I really wish that I had. I forced myself to play drums right handed and it wasn't much of an issue. Although I am stronger with my left foot kicks. But I play drums fully right handed...no open handed playing.I really wish I had learned to play guitar right handed. I am reminded of this every time I visit a music store or play with new guys and they ask if I'd like to try their guitar. :-( Sorry guys, I had to vent.

My father refered to metal (and rock music in general) as "Jungle Music". He never owned a guitar, neither an amp. But he was so greatfull to give me a part of the money I needed to buy me my first bass Amp. Or what ever they called this piece of crap back in the days. It was a F.A.L. Kestrel Bass Combo. Lets say, it was at least an improvement in Volume, compared to the old tube radio l used before. Tonewise.... not so much....

@@AD1978leo they are trimming manufacturing cost. Same with the other brands... my take is always this... a rock n roll amp should be made and roll out from the land of rock n roll. Foreign manufacturers are not fluent in rock or metal so how can a foreign manufactured amp be righteous in the tonality and vibe of rock and metal? It may sound good for the first couple of weeks but that good shit from the amp has to hold up and not wear off. It's like I can't wait to fire up the Boogie after getting the thing all warm up and shit before flicking off the stand by switch and just hear it with a guitar strapped on. So I feel a used 5150 combo may command that anticipation. I don't wanna buy something that I won't crave for in a couple of weeks when the honeymoon period is over....
Your making feel old with that not your fathers 5150 bit 😆

I don't know, I have one now from a trade and I can't justify it being at the price it is. Build quality is shoddy and doesn't feel robust like my old JSX, the cleans are still not Fender Reverb good, and the gain structure doesn't have the growl like a 5150/6505+ and sounds kinda artificial.
