fun fact about the cat one; male cats- adult or otherwise- typically have a higher-pitched meow than females do, and yes, often sound more like kittens. that male cat doesn't sound like a 'female kitten', he sounds like an adult male cat.

  • @chestersnap

@@chestersnap Yeah, I think it's due to an increase in testosterone. But as far as cartoons go, mane = male lion and no mane = female lion. Weirdly this isn't the first time I've seen a Noah's Ark story illustrated with two maned lions. I guess the artists are more focused on the "two of each animal" aspect and forget about sexual dimorphism. Kind of like when male "cows" are drawn with udders.

Speaking of gendered products, I want to share a small life hack that I found. Now, I'm agender, but I'm also AFAB so I look like a normal woman. And if you have female body too - use men's shaving razors I explain why: 1st: they are sharper which means that they will shave better 2nd: since they are sharper that means they will also last longer. And since they last for longer time that means you don't have to buy them so often which will save you money 3rd: in addition, they are also usually cheaper than women's shaving razors I rest my case.

"Bible Stories for Girls" fills me with a certain dread. On one hand, yeah sure Mary is holy and whatever, Ruth and Naomi have a sweet story, Rebekah is a crafty sort, and there are several other women of high valor within the central narrative. On the other hand, do the people behind that book have any idea how many Biblical girls and women are "violently dishonored", prostitutes, sacrifices, or some combination of the three? It's not all sunshine and rainbows!

Wtf Idk if this matters, but I'm a Christian and I just wanna say I'm so sorry. Those books using spiritual things to manipulate and shame you over things not even true to the bible is called spiritual abuse, and it's not okay. In fact, Jesus was known to empower women in a time and place where they culturally didn't have much worth, so it's so wrong for those gendered bibles to be that way. Sending love, Ava! -Ashley ❤

Fun stoey, because my non-christian friend and I had found that same book in the library before that, thinking it was like a fun fictional diary kind of book, we found out it wasn't and thought it was pretty shit, and then they gave me the very same one at church 🙈 literally why 😂😂

The microwave is for men! I as a woman have never reheated leftover macaroni and cheese in the microwave. I must first dish out the appropriate amount of Mac and cheese, then I need a man to place my bowl in the microwave while he types in the correct time. He must then wait around until it finishes, then I give it a little taste to see if the Mac and cheese is properly reheated. That is the way nature intended microwaves to be used! You know, when I was younger and forced into believing cis female was my only choice, I drew to absolutely hate things labeled "for girls" or stereotyped towards girls because I hated the idea that someone was telling me how to live my life and I purposely pursued gender neutral and boys options as a form of rebellion because I didn't like people telling me what to do. Since I've realized I am definitely not cis, I feel a little more comfortable entertaining things stereotyped at women because I no longer personally consider anything to be gendered, though a tiny part of me hates that people will see me as a cis female doing girly things.

It's the visual shorthand that we've collectively agreed upon for the last hundred years of heavily stylized cartoons. This guide is to show baby artists how to emphasize those traits in a manga style that will be easily understood by viewers. The eastern style has much more subtle gender differences than western media, where superman's entire head is a square. The shorthand indicates a particular character role the same way western media likes to make the heros dorito shaped and the villans slinky and smart characters have glasses and nice characters are kind of rounded, but the more nuanced techniques can't be learned until the artist understands the basics, like how to indicate age and sex. For extreme gender dimorphism look at Illumination studio's animals. The males have giant noses and chins and the females have tiny pointy noses and big eyes. It's good for a laugh.

At my work place, we have signs up that say "your mother doesn't work here" too. At this point it's just the catch phrase. Your "parents" don't work here would be better but 'your mom' is a lot more common to hear despite it being a pointless gendering.

  • @AryaPDipa

Okay, the art one, isn't pointless. I mean sure, there are men with soft contour (like me) and women who has sharp contour. However the sharp angular look somehow just looks more masculine. This is coming from a hobbyist artist.

My mom then 'whispered' to him to cut off only a little bit of hair. My hair length is still below my shoulders. help what do Big dysphoria

When I was 17, I was on the way home from the movies with my friend. Got off the bus a couple stops early and popped into a barber shop. That was my first short hair cut and the first time I really liked my hair. 'Course, I tried to hide it with a hat (I used to live in my favorite ball cap) but 2 weeks later I accidentally knocked it off when taking off my sweatshirt. Dead silence behind me before my mum flew off the handle. 😂 But there wasn't a damn thing she could do about it.
