I work in a bakery. Recently I wrote "happy birthday" on a cake in blue. The customer had told me it was for a woman, which is fine. Blue is unisex. She wanted me to re-write it because blue wasn't a woman's color.... I also had a coworker who would flip our boxes inside out (pink outside and brown inside, so now the brown is outside) if she could tell the order was for a man, so a man didn't have a pink box. It's a damn box.

Ya know what I realized was pointlessly gendered today? Bathrooms. Yeah I know we all already know this but it hit me today because usually if you tell a kid they can’t go somewhere they will do everything in their power to go there, but gendered bathrooms are so ingrained into us that as a kid when I walked just past the doorway of the boys bathroom for a dare in school, all the kids yelled like “wow I can’t believe she went into the boys bathroom!!! That’s so BAD!!!” Like it wasn’t a big deal to me. It’s just a place. I walked in and out two steps. I’m now realizing it might be because I’m agender and gender just doesn’t really matter to me - but still.

Girls used to wear blue, because it was seen as fragile and modest, and boys used to wear pink, because it's a watered-down version of red, the color of war and blood, and therefore stronger and more masculine. But then the American fashion industry came to the market in the 1950s and decided to throw those meanings out the window by reversing the color roles in a gendered society. We're still paying the price 70 years later.

Also I have eczema and react badly to soap but the reation is always much worse if I use floral soaps. So guess what, I use men's deoderant because I don't react to it and men's soap because the reaction is much less of a problem. I really feel for the poor, most likely underpaid retail worker who had to deal with the "I'm not a unisex" guy. I used to work at a store where we had done away with gendering the bathrooms years ago. It's known to be a pretty socially progressive store, but it really wasn't even any kind of a statement. It just made sense because the room marked "women" always had a longer line. They weren't stalls -- just fully closed, lockable rooms with a toilet and a sink inside. They were always cleaned and fully sanitized every evening, and usually throughout the day (because, as anyone who has ever had to clean a public bathroom can attest... people are animals). But sure enough as I was waiting for the restroom after my shift one day, some woman joined me and promptly started complaining that neither was the "women"s room. I tried to get out of the conversation by saying it had been like this a long time and we never had any issues. But she persisted on about how she'd now have to use the bathroom after a man, and gestured wildly at my male coworker leaving one of the bathrooms as if his maleness proved some kind of point. I kept trying to brush her off until she finally said "Well, I don't think I can keep shopping here if it's going to be like this." To which I just said "Okay", and went on to use the bathroom like a normal person. This was at the height of media attention on transgender bathroom issues so to this day I think she was just looking for an excuse to be a TERF, and we denied her that with our gender neutral bathrooms. That thought always makes me happy.

Guy asks which one is the men's room. I tell him they're unisex. He replies "But I'm not a unisex, I'm a guy." (Side note: this was when a bathroom bill in another state had been in the news a lot recently.) I thought he was messing with me until I heard him mutter something about "didn't want to get into some political debate." I was too stunned by the realization that he was serious that I didn't tell him what "unisex" means (and let's be honest, would he have listened? Doubtful). And no, men do not have just one pair of shoes for everything. I have seven pairs of footwear in my bedroom at this present moment. And only one does any kind of double duty.

Hi Jamie....I found you through your interview with Mama Dr Jones from the other day and I want to say thank you for being so open and honest about your life...I have been binge watching some of your videos and I reallly love the way you share yourself with us... I like to think of myself as being and ally to the community. My 16 year old daughter came out to me a year or so ago that she is a lesbian....I have absolutley no problem with that....One of her best friends at school is a trans female and another is gay.....We are very lucky in that the school they go to is very inclusive, and they dont care what gender a person is or what sexuality they are, as long as they are there to learn, they will be taught.... Just as a side note. I make jewellery in my spare time and have made beaded bracelets for them all and I call them my pride bracelets....They have a black, white or clear base and all of the colours of the rainbow included...I personally wear these bracelets in support of my daughter and her friends.... I would really love to send you and Shaaba one each but don't know how to....Plus, I would have to custom make them for you.....

But men's dress-pants are losing their pockets. They're either getting shallower, or the opening is getting so large that everything's constantly falling out. Been driving me crazy the past 15 years! As for jeans: Some of us guys need relaxed-fit that's even more-relaxed that what they sell. If you exercise your lower body or just naturally have muscular calves, _you can't even get most jeans past your knee._ I absolutely _hated_ blue-jeans until a friend who worked out took a look at my legs and went, "No, you need to look for Levi's. Trust me on this." Jeans finally fit! [I'm also naturally thicc, so I couldn't button shut regular jeans because my butt's so big.]

As a transguy that needed to wear women jeans for a long time and now finally men's jeans, there actually are differences thou. Especially the hip, butt (and obviously crotch area) is cut very differently, since men's jeans aren't designed for wide hips. Finding jeans that fit my hips but didn't have too long legs or made my butt look weird was actually very difficult.

2:25 Uhh … You know what you get if you scale up a housecat to the size of a German-Shepherd or Golden Retriever? _A puma._ Seriously, pumas, a.k.a. mountain lions, are more closely-related to housecats than they are to lions, jaguars, or other felids their size. Also, there's a saying: 2 dogs vs. a cat, bet on the dogs. 1 dog vs. a cat, _bet on the cat._ The muscular-power-per-mass ratio on a cat, any cat, is the largest of any mammal. A housecat can rip out throats and sever veins and arteries. And they have knives for claws.
