That pile of kits looks like it could have come out of my stash. Glad to hear that there is still a market for 1/72. I'm an old school modeler, started collecting and building in the '60s and still at it six decades later.
I'm from the UK and the matchbox kits were some of the first I ever made, I had a catalogue from back in the day and the Victor kit was one I always wanted great boxart. Matchbox really knew how to market to kids back then, the multicoloured plastic for those of us that didn't have the money or time for paints, great memories!

They always went together better than Arifx and the AFV models were outstanding. You always got great value for your money especially when the AFV kits came with a diorama base.
Love the Matchbox kits
The A 26 Invader brings back old Airfix memories, with that classic packaging that gets your attention, you pull it out and feast upon the Roy Cross box art magic!

That old box art was beautiful, fuel for the imagination!
So many kits of models I made in my teens & early 20s. Not just the F-22 but the YF-22 prototype. Rare indeed.
Match box were my favorite kits back in elementary school. Real gems. Can't wait to do another road trip to your store. Hopefully at the new location. Best of luck with the move.

Thank you George 🙂
1/72 Matchbox had the best detailed pilot figures. Even compared to today they are still right up there.

Absloutley agree...a lot of manufactures could learn a LOT on how to make pilot figures by studying the matchbox design

Monogram also had some really nice pilot figures in 1/72 and 1/48 scale. I thought they did an excellent job capturing the look of the flight helmets.
What a nostalgia-fest! Im proud to say i built every one of those matchbox kits between 1977 and 1991. And i remember the martin marlin also, a very expensive kit in the late 80s where i lived.

Really cool kits.
There are a couple there that look familiar from my youth. Built that Canberra, possibly the first time painting camo. Found one a few years ago, so is sitting in the nostalgia build pile!

Isn't it fun to revisit our modelling youth? We get to do a do-over with all the techniques and experience we gained in the interim! :)
I always had the impression that Matchbox kits were more stylised and completely machine-tooled where the Airfix kits seemed to be more manual labour. Not amazing considering the age of some Airfix kits, even in the 1970s.
The video is great! I like the ability to pause the video and see the model kits. How many KZreadrs just move the camera too fast in the hobby or music store etc video will just be a blur even when pausing it. You all did a great job, hope the move reaps in more money!

Glad you liked it! Thank you for the feedback!
I loved the matchbox kits in the 70’s and early 80’s, because they were moulded in two colours. As a kid we didn’t have enough money for paint so we just stuck the transfers on the unpainted models 😂

Been there, done that.... ;)
Yeah, that looks like my stash too. Gotta' start getting rid of them via model kit shows in the Chicago area.
How fortunate for YT to suddenly put your video into my suggestions as this is something I have been thinking about for a while. Just how easy it is it to find something you want to build, that you either missed out on or would like a second chance at, kits that were around in the 70s? I know there won't be a huge stash just waiting for people like myself to find and buy them, but there are maybe 4 or 5 kits I would love to get my hands on and apart from eBay, have no idea where to start looking to possibly find the kits I have been dreaming of. Can you offer any advice please? Cheers. Tom.

There are a number of buy/sell/trade groups on FB that are good. You can also post the kits you are seeking. A good chum of mine recently acquired his "grail" kit. We are posting frequently the collections we obtain, if you see any of the ones you're after message us : hobcen@rogers.com

@@hobcen Thank you very much for that information. I apologise for being dense here, you are referring to posting on your FB page right? Shows you how clued in to the internet I am!🥴 I am suffering from what Fine Scale Modeler calls 'analysis paralysis' at the moment having started to get back into the modeling game but stressing about every little thing, watching video after video and not progressing beyond that. Just collecting kits and having them collect dust, unable to get started.

We try and post much of the older kits we acquire on YT and link that to FB. Trying to cover all bases.... Just start building, have fun and enjoy the process. The skills will come. I have had my share of failures (and still do!) but I learned from them all and like a game of golf, you focus on the little things you get right, savour the satisfaction of those little wins and then the bigger game improves. Very few people achieve perfection without perseverance. Sorry for the rant but it is something I feel strongly about in the hobby. If you aren't enjoying it, why do it?
When I see blue Revell boxes I get suspicious, so I checked Scalemates. 5:57 The Revell Fairey Fulmar was a rather new kit in 1995, borrowed from 1994 Vista moulds. I don't know that brand. 6:21 As too often the Revell Avro Schackleton MR3 is an old Frog kit in disguise. The moulds date from 1967 and have been reused often.

You did it right. Always consult Scalemates to determine the origins of "new" kits, especially by companies that are known to rebox other manufacturers. Revell Germany is famous for this.
looks like my stash, just turned 60, so i´m a big fan of Frog, old Airfix. At the time didn´t like Matchbox because of the 2 ou 3 colur parts, but a friend told me they had good detail and great parts fix.

You turned me off right from the start with your intro demands to Like & Subscribe. I know it was meant to be humorous and I'm taking it too seriously, but I really object to the aggressive, in-your-face style (and as a US Marine, I'm no pushover either). I just don't like aggression.

I built a Fairey Swordfish as a kid and I'd like to own it again but I'm not sure what it was. I know it was not MB because it was molded in white plastic and for some reason I don't tink it was Revell either.
