Noseying around a woodland homestead!
Richard and I have been kindly invited to have a look around a woodland homestead this week. Simon, our host has built a beautiful life for himself and his family in this lovely woodland and it is all rather inspirational! Simon has his own youtube channel as linked below so please do head over there and join in his world too. Thanks for watching!
We are so grateful for all these invites to so many amazing places, we can hardly believe our good fortunes. Thank you so much you lovely, lovely gentle folk 💜💜💜

Thank you for showing the chickens, for some reason I love them. You two make a great team together.
Thank you for taking us on a tour of Simon’s woodland. We had Chickens and rabbits for years, but the neighbours objected because they brought rats. We loved them .

Worth considering love, I see more and more Normal folk doing the same, proper communities. 🏴
I think I'd be shocked to see a 3ft turkey walking through the woods, had no idea they grew so tall. Loving the flags around the chicken pens. What a great place, full of adventure and calmness.
So love you too I worked with turkeys and chickens and they are very intelligent
Julia, you are like a kid in a sweetie shop, bless ya
I enjoyed that lovely tour of Simon's beautiful woodland home. Everyone should have something similar nearby. A community garden or allotments as a minimum.
What an idyllic place! Just my cup of tea, a real sanctuary, being at one with nature. Thank you for showing us around Simon's wonderful woodland Richard and Julia 💜

So interesting to see the many varieties of chickens. My daughter used to have rescue chickens at one time. Thank you Richard and Julia lovely to see you enjoying your visit.
You are so lovely!!!!
❤ what a beautiful video just wish I could live in a place like this oh well I'll just have to carry on dreaming thanks X
This is real traditional news. Now, if this was allowed on the TV, then I'd buy one. Thank you, you two. You get on very well together, need more please guys 😊❤ foot note plus living in those woods increases oxygen levels ❤
Loved that tour!.. Thank you very much.
In Australia instead of saying have a "nosey around", we say having a "sticky beak" or a sticky! :)
You should take the boys with you ❤
thank you for taking us with you.
Magenta for that Rocky Horror vibe😃.
Thank you for this joyful video!
I grew up near Salisbury, back in fifties,Salisbury is pure magic where else has got 5 rivers,we lived close to old Sarum,we kept chickens ,light Sussex and Rhodes Island reds, and Indian runner ducks, and my dad caught wild rabbits for rabbit stew,,your video brings it all back to me ,thank you.
I've got loads of different breeds of chickens too and Muscovy Ducks which lay big tasty eggs and usually double and treble yolk eggs. I have a lot like there is there. I think my favourite chickens are called Easter eggers and they have beard's instead of a wattle (the red dangling bit under their beak). You would love it here! I have lots of videos of round here and regularly do live streams showing everything if you want a look. I've got some tiny chicks and a duckling at the moment too 👍❤️💛💚
Another cracking video you two , thank you for sharing .
Great video, it looks a very appealing lifestyle but I should imagine it's a hard life in the winter!
lol frizzle me frazzles Julia we luv ya
I'm having chicken for tea 🤤🤤
Beautifully explored and much needed information given. Thank you 👍
There is a book called "hair of the dog to paint the town red " its got all the old sayings and where they originated from and why ,great little read and you could say a few on every video ,thanks guys

It's a bit of a strange old world we live in now The nasty people are trying to control every thing but their time is short and the bible is never wrong amen to that
I like birds.
Love you two ❤️❤️
Chickens are very good for clearing weeds and pests from your vegetable beds over winter 🙂
Sailsbury Plain is used for military manovres. As a child my father chose 'tank traps' or crossings to have picnic in as a break from the long drive, in those days, to Somerset. 💖🙏💫
Interesting comment by Simon in your other vid. Regarding the 'aviator' flu, aimed at poultry etc. Seems to be going hand in hand with the increase vegetarian/veganism, presumably aimed at reducing meat and egg production. Something ain't quite right.
Looks like you might be getting offered a piece of land in Wiltshire to help fulfil your dreams of going off grid!
Keep going God's guiding you 2 x
A Neighbour from School left and did Agriculture we lived in Mid Devon, small Village, 3 farms all round and a wonderful Childhood. . Still love the countryside as you both know. He then set up a new concept? Yes he was THE HOLIDAY FARMER. Taking over a Farm so the owner could HAVE A BREAK. Me thinking that you could offer your services to SMALL HOLDINGS. And Have a Break from your other channel. Us again!!!.
Just catching up, another good vlog, thanks guys ❤
I used to love my chickies when I lived in Portugal..... They used to lay an egg everyday (brown hens) ......problem is they only lived 3-4 years !! Poor things.....miss my chickens. Your looking good honeypot x lol
Interesting place .👍
Amazing that Simon has 120 chickens and that he can barter and sell with them. I'd love to have the space for a few chickens.
Very interesting thank you for sharing that moment with us.Bless you your family and the birds and animals 🐕🐔
Hi Richard & Julia, wonderful little tour. Simon has a beautiful place. I find chickens so beautiful, it was great to see all the lovely feathered friends. Great video. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful weekend. Take really good care of yourselves, stay well! Lots of love Kathy xo 🌸🌺🌿🐤🐔🐔🦆🦃
How beautiful are the bluebells!
Lovely to see you two enjoying Simon's woodland and beautiful chickens! (& turkeys, ducks...) 🐔We're not erected the chicken pen in the wood yet, it's got to be fox & badger proof - was thinking putting that strong heras fencing round - triangles good idea 👍👍However, seen a polecat on trailcam so smaller gauge wire needed as well (and around to stop them digging!). In lockdown, we cleared a patch & planted spuds & onions (a little allotment) - the idea was to put the chooks there to clear it again. PS my silkies peck their own breast feathers out when they're broody (to warm the eggs better). The big rescue girls (warrens) will peck and eat any feather they manage to catch (extra protein) Good luck in your quest for your dream-holding, all the best from Shropshire 🌳🌳

I had no idea that there were so many different breeds of chickens! They're stunning! Julia is a natural for presenting nature programs, so knowledgeable. I hope this channel grows and grows. 😊
Great video thank you. I haven quiet figured out which one of you has Asperger’s. Not that it matters.

Thank you both for a wonderful video! It was great to see the chickens etc so close up! Julia you definitely have an affinity with animals that is or sure! Brilliant idea re the cabin too! Really enjoyed watching this one! 🙂
Nice place. Don't forget it's a 24/7/365 commitment. You can't go away for even one night without someone to look after things. And as an owner of a few chickens don't forget chickens = rats!

My sister keeps a few hens but it is a drama for her if she ever wants to go away for a few nights Eg. to visit me in Northern Ireland or our cousin in San Francisco. However she loves having them and I travel to Scotland to release her and learned how to care for them. It was a drama when she realised some of the eggs were fertilised and one of her hens had started to sit on them. She decided to let the process continue. Several cockerels were born and she kept the rejected runt warm in her cleavage, bringing them in to her spare bedroom out of the snow. She could not find homes for the cockerels. Their cock-a-doodle-doo ing reached fever pitch as the weeks went by, causing neighbours to wake earlier than they wanted and at a certain age the cockerels stopped cohabiting in a brotherly fashion and started to draw blood in fights. She was broken hearted to have to take them to a vet for a humane end.

How do I get involved in the woodlander initiative?
Nothing personal, but for nature lovers, I can't understand the highly chemical purple (unnatural) hair.

It's fun. Our family is super crunchy (we make our own laundry detergent, cleaning products, and are even hardwired *no Wi-Fi*) but we still dye our hair from time to time. The 80/20 rule works great. If you can get 80% of chemicals out of your life, you're doing pretty good imo.
