NOS Dyno Tune - Honda S2000

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

How much power does NOS really make? In this episode the Honda S2000 gets strapped to the dyno to see what kind of power our newly installed Nitrous kit makes! But will everything go to plan and will make enough power to beat Martys MX5?

    Power at the wheels is different to the figures that manufacturers circulate when they are trying to sell and promote their cars which is usually measured at the engine. Do a google about power at the wheels VS power at the engine - it's an interesting read and will help you understand the difference between dyno figures and manufactures spec sheets.

They didn't get into his but also couldn't peel the whole vinyl off. It's an eyesore, yeah, and should've been removed shortly after. Hopefully soon. D:

    I always thought MCM fans knew a few things about cars like the difference between hp and whp. Guess not by all of the idiots saying that the s2k makes 170kw/240whp stock. Face palm. Smh. That's to the crank, not the wheels.

  • @Primitivegarage915

    @Primitivegarage915

    9 жыл бұрын

    Lauren Olsen it makes that hp to the crank. It puts 170-180hp to the wheels not 240. Dumb bitch, who let you out of the kitchen?

  • @h-e-x

    @h-e-x

    9 жыл бұрын

    Luis Lujan is correct. If you actually watch the video, they made about 170kw/240hp AFTER they installed the nos system. So stock the S2K is not making 170kw/240hp to the wheels, which is where the power actually matters. So Lauren Olsen please get your facts straight.

    people don't know what "power to the crank" even means... So when you measure from the crank, the engine is on a stand in an emission room by itself with a dyno attached to the little rotating nub that would normally be connected to a flywheel. Without the flywheel, clutch, transmission, drive shaft, differential, half shaft (s), and wheels ALL slowing it down, the engine has a MUCH higher horsepower/kilowatt rating (since it's out of the car, it's pushing zero weight. so the part that spins is going MUCH faster). For instance, a late 350z had a window sticker saying "330 Horsepower". If you took that car to the dyno right off the showroom floor, you'd actually make 270-280 Wheel hp. which means the early 350z's were much worse, since they claimed 288hp on the window sticker, which would put them well below 240hp at the wheel. Save yourselves from looking like total fools if you decide "well ey, my SR20 has 205hp!! i could smoke all S2K's!!" and go get your car dynoed and realize you actually push maybe 170whp.

    Word man. The thing is that most people that watch youtube videos are not experts. And because we live in the age of the internet, everyone walks around thinking they are right and have the right to express whatever regardless of how accurate their info is. Thanks for standing against ignorance!

  • @aserta

    @aserta

    9 жыл бұрын

    Billy Donmecz I'll have to disagree with you on something. 1. it's not the internet that makes people "experts". There's always "that guy" hovering around you when you're working on something, telling something that makes no sense. 2. they do have the right to express their ignorance, it's free speech, you should just ignore it or fight against it with facts. 3. "regardless of how accurate their info is", what are you trying to say, that if someone has more accurate information than you but are wrong on a technicality we should "shoot" said person down? What if you're both wrong, what then? In ending, there's no right or wrong, there's people and some of them are assholes. It's your choice on what side of the barricade you choose to sit. Whether be helping by placing facts down or ignoring the matter, because regardless of what you have to say, good or bad, if it's not nice it's not worth saying.

    +Clearanceman2 Agreed, a very enjoyable show, similar to an American show (without drama, with comedy) called Roadkill. There are about 50 episodes all on motor trend channel on KZread, I'd recommend checking it out if you like this. It's like this show, but with American cars, longer episodes, more in-depth explanations, and more non-professional stuff, such as putting an Rv's drive train into a challeneger using sawzalls as a main tool.

    All these complaints about NOS is cheating and MCM is lame for using it. FFS they've made an amazing turbo conversion with the MX5 and an even more amazing conversion with gramps. This is an informative entertainment channel, it'd get old seing the same stuff over and over. They try to make their builds down to earth (yes gramps is streching it but turbo yoda explained why it's still MCM) and going advanced mode with internals etc is a bit too advanced. Stop the fucking complaining or go elsewhere, this channel is amazing and super entertaining.

    The thing is that's a DynoDynamics, which reads about 12% low, so in reality it's making 264WHP for compensated DynoJet figures, which are regarded as being a more accurate dyno, which at 18% drivetrain powerloss for RWD, translates to about 315BHP.

    DynoDynamics is widely considered as being a heart breaker dyno, it is consistantly 10-12% lower reading than a DynoJet. Personal experience even on my car.

    scootbmx01 The whole idea of branded dynos with corrected values is so you can run on two of the same branded dynos, enable the corrected values and do a run on another in a completely different location and they WILL produce the same results..............

    Just paused the video to say, I don't drive, I can't. I'm scared to even try and learn to drive.(I'm 20 years of age btw) I'm don't even watch a lot of car related videos on KZread or anything, but this channel. This channel makes me want to learn how to drive. Not so I can become a boyracer, but so I can get a new hobby of car maintenance and such. It's just so intriguing to me. Now spent about 2 hours watching this channel going "Pfft MX5 all day, sorry Moog.", but I'd prefer a Hyundai over a Mazda or Honda, this is just personal preference. Ever since NFS 2, been completely obsessed with Hyundai Coupe's. (Or however it's spelt.) Keep it up guys, I'm late to the channel, but loving it all! :D

Maybe sometime you guys could try remaking a similar model toyota tacoma while on a budget. You guys are still amazing at what you do regardless.

    +alex LAMBLEY Weight isn't everything. It only matters for people who have a boner for autocrosses and road courses. There's a reason why supercars don't weigh only like 2,000 lbs. and are closer to 4,000 lbs. Once you're up to a certain speed, drag eliminates the weight factor. This is where larger engines shine. When have you seen 4-bangers do 200 mph? On the desert, on courses that are tens of miles long, because they take so long to get up to such speeds, because they make no torque. I'd take a heavy car with a big engine that guzzles gas any day of the week. Light cars just feel so unsound when going anywhere near 100 mph.
