I remember watching season one at 14 and I loved and shared the show. Now I am a adult I have my own car still love and share the show with new friends. The MCM world will never die and a big THANK YOU to Marty and Moog for starting this originally obscure and small masterpiece. And a big THANK YOU to all the fans that have made this so big and MCM is now multi-national. I am so proud of you guys and amazed at your successes, it has like been watching (from what I understand) a baby grow into a successful young man/lady. Keep it up guys!!! Btw Moog just turbo that thing so you can get some real power... Hymaphroditic snail and unicorn farts ... Think about it.

Moog shouting" V-TEC" during every gearchange was classic. Most i've laughed in all the MCM vids. Good job guys!

I wanted an MX-5 since I was 15. I now have an MX-5 which I absolutely adore (and will eventually mod). I still think the S2000 is awesome, and I'd love to experience VTEC unicorn farts. Fuck brand allegiance, just enjoy nice cars.

13:37 Hate to break it to you Moog, but Honda pretty much managed to squeeze every last horse out of that little F20C engine from the factory. The only way you will make substantially more power is to boost it, whether it be supercharger or turbocharger. If you do get enough money to boost it tho, you wont just be beating MX-5s, I'll tell you that much. I'm sure everyone has seen the video of the S2k running 9's with a stock block on boost :)

MCM - the only guys who can drag out 15 seconds into 18 minutes and not bore the audience.

I love the fact that you will insult each others cars, dog on each other, and give each other crap before the race. But, you will still shake hands, congratulate each other, and work on both cars together. That shows true sportsmanship and friendship. That is also the reason I love watching your videos. Keep up the good work, and keep the awesome videos coming guys. Much love from the states.

Omar Reyes I know right? I was subbed to these guys and I always saw them as kind of "trendy" but the mx5 and gramps totally blew my mind. The boost controller for gramps was AMAZING!!

Why does the Honda get so much hate, normally I don't give a shit about Hondas, but a little 2 door stick shift with a stick shift to me is a mad car no matter what.

Everyone loves the rear wheel drive s2000. People just hate the front wheel drive hondas like the civic

Supercharge the Honda. A. You guys need to do a supercharger video. B. It will complement the VTEC whereas a turbo can quite easily ruin the drive ability. I would also like to see you guys do camshafts, headers, exhaust and other stuff.

Superchargers are awesome. They make the powerband much more linear (even on cars that suck). Also, they don't hand grenade the engine and weigh a lot less than their crappy turbo siblings. Turbos don't always ruin the driveability but it makes the powerband wonky and that problem becomes even worse with VTEC. You will have a car that makes 50hp below 4000RPM and 700hp above that and that will get annoying very quickly for everyday usage (not to mention ruin your drive train)

Jokingly fighting over hondas, nissans, subarus, competitions and what have you can be fun for a few mins, but it is oh so much better when you two get along and say things like "I'm happy for you" etc. Warms my heart right up and reminds me why I love you guys

Boltons will really do next to nothing in terms of power for the S2000. A single exhaust system will lighten it up a bit and give it some more performance but not much and honestly an intake won't do much either other than allow it to breathe a bit easier. If Moog want's more power and performance I'd get a supercharger, compliments the NA engine very well.

Yep, that's what I thought too. The Mazda has sticky tires on it and these make this little time difference. It would already be enough to put the same tires on the S2000 and Moog would win.

SlickRickOne I dunno. I think the additional torque of the turbocharged engine is what helped the Miata get out of the hole faster.. If you put stickier tires on the less torquey S2k, it would have fallen out of Vtec, bogged off the line and been even further behind.

Very true comment. Doing a burnout on road tires to heat them will actually loosen the grip on launch. Sticky tires from the get go, and no burnout definitely helped his launch.

bliglum If you look back at the second race you'll see that the MX5 had the s2000 out of the hole and thru what looked like the 60' mark. It then began to make more power as it came up on boost and slow as the clutch began slipping. the turbo had no part in the dig off the line there's no boost just off idle. in fairness the S2000 is known for it's lack of low end so it would be slow off the line the VTEC does work but only in the upper 1/3 of the rev range so likev7k thru redline at 9k. The MX5 HAS THE SMALLER 1.6l which was originally in the 323 and was not really tune all that hard . The S2000 K series engine was designed from the outset as an HP motor and is a full 2.0L IIRC. I will always favor the low buck modded car over rhe high dollar stocker .Further more I think the closeness of the times tell us that all Marty's mods really just leveled the playing field. He squeeked out the win he didn't shut the S2000 down or smoke it by a mile the vary next race could have just as easly gone the Hondas way. I don't think we have a decisive victor yet. It seemed to me that Moog let the pressure get to him a little and Marty was more relaxed and in control of himself. So in my opinion we don't have the last word yet .The King of the hill has not been crowned yet. I need at lest 2 out of three not one out of one.

Man, I was too fast, no HD yet, daaaaaaamn! I don't wanna wait, it's not what my generation do!

Love the show! I was rooting for the underdog Miata and I'm glad Marty won. I must say however that Marty won off of a great launch. The stock S2000 still had more MPH. 2.5 to be exact. Had they raced a few more times, I think the S2000 would have won the majority. Impressive for an N/A stock car.

Fun video! I used to own an MX5 and always wished for a slightly larger and more powerful version. The S2000 would have been perfect, but it didn't come out until after I bought my RX7 (new) back in 1995. For you guys overseas, that was the last year they were sold in the USA, but mine is was a brand new '94 with 9 miles on it. Anyway, sometimes I think about selling the RX7 and getting a clean S2000, but I'm having a hard time getting rid of my baby. Hell, at this point I've owned it ~20 years, so I might just keep it until I'm dead. Considering how rare clean RX7s are, I feel the market value is way too low -- especially when I get people asking me to sell it at least 3 times a month. Maybe in another 10 years it might go up, but who knows. :-) Oh... Subscribed!

Expected Result. Even though the MX is a wonderful little car, the S is just the King of all Roadsters. The Engine of the Mazda is yet another everyday engine. Add a Turbo and you can have some serious fun..! The F20C on the S though is a whole different story. That engine is made to rock and it's made to last. Racing Grade Engineering from Honda. Combined with a hell of a chassis and looks that turn Heads anywhere you can't go wrong with an S. Ultimately it will be mine some day...!

Man...there was soo much hype and build up. Awesome!!!

Moog, for the S2000 be VERY careful about naturally aspirated mods. The motor is already very very good. Only a couple of intakes actually make power over the stock airbox. 70mm single exhausts have been proven to get a few extra unicorns but 60mm aren't bad either. Getting an aftermarket ECU can help drop the VTEC engagement point to around 5000 rpm. That helps a bit in the midrange. Contact BYP Racing and Development because they've done a lot of testing recently for the F20C.

Exactly. The weight saving from a single exhaust is worth more than the power you get! Same goes for the Exhaust manifold.

Good to see. Goes to show you don't need $30,000+ for a car that can kill at the track. Just a little know-how and time. I just finished putting a turbo into my '95 240sx. Getting it tuned in 2 days, and it will give the beatdown to all these brand new camaros for 1/6th the price.

A turbo and tuned 240 killing the new camaros? The new camaros run low 11's I've seen modded ones do 10. Yes it is and no it's not 1/6 the price. A Z/28 is 60 K that must mean your whole entire 240 build is only 10 K, and the z28 is the most expensive camaro! If your talking about ZL1's which you can get used for 40 K that must mean your car is under 5 thousand dollars for the complete build! You sir are full of shit.

Your nissan has a 0-60 of 7.8 seconds brand new. With about 70,000 miles on the odometer you'd be lucky to have a 8.3s 0-60. Now even with a 6 thousand dollar brand name turbo you would never leave the sevens hahahaha good luck even beating a stock 2005 v6 Mustang

7lameboy ...you watch mightycarmods, right? He basically turbo'd his car for free if you don't include the cost of labor. You'd be surprised how cheap it is to turbo a car if you do the work yourself and shop around. And, yes, I did it for under 6,666 dollars. 3k for the car, 3k for the mods. And I'm not talking about V8s since almost no one has a v8 camaro where I live but there are countless V6s.

Seems like the Miata should pull on the S2000... I think it make 197whp and it's at least 500lbs lighter than the S2K. I guess the S makes up for it in the top end vs the small turbo on the Miata.

True for drag racing, but I think keeping the final gear higher makes for a much better highwah cruiser. I say this because my MX5 is awesome but it's really annoying to see 4k rpm at 75-80mph. Yes I know the comment I'm replying to is 8 years old

***** No, vvt and vtec are ever so slightly different. vvt changes valve timing, vtec increases valve lift and changes valve timing. Even they both have valve timing the extra lift on the vtec should allow more power because of the valve lift. So you can really say their the same.

Loads of cars have variable valve timing now. VTEC is one of the first that started using on vehicles. And Why always hating on Hondas?
