Spent a bit of time in Norway, had a girlfriend from there who had a lovely farm just south of Oslo. I'm not that short, but felt like a midget there. If I remember right, they are the biggest coffee drinking in the world.... always a table flask of brewed coffee on the coffee table. Nice people, mostly. I got the impression the difference between them and the Swedish is very much like the difference between the Welsh and the English.... the Swedish being a bit more aloof and snooty, the people from Norway being a bit more friendly and up for a laugh. Enjoyed my time there, absolutely stunning country.

Thanks Ash. Fun to watch. I'm in Canada so a Canadian Armed Forces pack would be interesting to see, for me at least. All the best.

Nice video Ash, it looks really nice - totally different from the stuff we were given when I was in the British army. I might well buy some to eat at home !!

I second that. In the barracks I served in there were also Canadian soldiers, so we got CANADIAN MREs as well. They combine the best of both worlds, the French and the English cuisine, this is particulary noticeable at breakfast. And the variety of food is amazing! There are three packages: breakfast, lunch and supper. And poutine is a speciality - I enjoyed it, but it wasn't that popular with British soldiers as they did not know it.

Mountain House used to have entrees like that. The typical MH was a "2 person" entree in a loose bag; but for a while they came out with their Pro-Paks which were in a smaller bag but included more like 1 1/2 entree to provide more calories and protein, and that bag was vacuumed hard just like your entree. I got tired of the Canadian IMPs but still have two from 2019 sitting on a shelf.

Earlier types of Norwgian RSPs (Field Meals) with canned meat had the nickname "Dead Man on Box", very likely named so because of how it looked. They lasted for decades, and have been both tested and eaten with dates back to atleast the 90s... Coffee is of course standard in any Norwegian meals with some self respect. Instead of beef jerkey, dried and salted sausages is pretty common to eat in Norway. I don't know about other countries, but this type of field ration or similar civilian rations are common in Norway for hiking and camping.

Due to several bad investments on the stock market Ash lost everything. Therefore Ash is now reduced to second hand clothing, homeless road-side dossing and war-time food rations.
