Steve B here. I introduced myself to you all just as you got on the ship. Great to meet you both. We enjoyed the cruise and thought it was as close to a pre Covid sailing as anyone can get right now. We did have a few suggestions to NCL for the future but the crew was fantastic and they made the trip great. The only big complaint we heard is that some of the folks waited almost three hours to get through Covid testing and embarkation processing. Thankfully early arrival helped us all avoid that. Hope to see you again on another cruise. Keep up the super work. By the way we wanted to say hi to you guys when we saw you a few times but we decided not to bug you. Safe Travels.

The Escape was our first NCL ship and we had such a great time. The ship is beautiful and the food was excellent.

I worked at the bar that was connected to Moderno (the Brazilian restaurant) for MANY weeks. The cheesy bread is gluten-free. The grilled pineapple is amazing, and sliced parm and manchego is heavenly. This is usually voted as the best restaurant on the entire fleet, even getting higher scores than Cagney's and Ocean Blue. The O'Sheehan's pub is 24-hours, and it is better on some ships than others... On the Breakaway, for example, it is near the casino... so cigarette smoke travels into the dining area. :-( On the Pride of America (Hawaii) it is styled as a 1950's diner instead of an Irish pub, so shakes, malts, and floats are popular.

Cheesy buns. That is all! You guys really captured the day perfectly 👌 seriously so glad we got to hang out, the waterfront is the best!

Doing an NCL "Escape" , balcony cabin cruise at Christmas... Very excited...

Getting hard to keep up with you two! This cruise ship is much different than others. But that spread for dinner was WOW! Nice cactus socks Jay! Dee love your excitement!

Sad for the ending but otherwise seems it will be a great new adventure for you and me! Escape is one of top choices for me (bucket list). It seems beautiful still. I remember the first time Jay went out of Carnival, he did not "love exploring different things" and not all ships were "cool", LOL. It is so nice to see Laura & Ricky with you again. Great last minute choice!

O'Sheehans is a favorite

Moderno is a must whether you have the dinner package or not! We sailed in a suite and breakfast and lunch was served there daily for suite guests only.

We were on that sailing with you guys!! Such an amazing week and super happy to return to sailing. I miss it already

I'll be with my brother on the Breakaway 27Nov22 and this ship in February 2023! Can't wait to get back to O'Sheehan's for more of all those excellent quick foods although this made me want to go back to Moderno's we are anticipating doing Cagney's Steakhouse twice on the Breakaway as it is consistently great for us! We have 3 specialty dinners on the Escape 18FEB23 so we can do a couple nights of Cagney's Steakhouse and maybe Moderno's or another like Ocean Blue or Teppanyaki! It's just so difficult to decide sometimes! I shared this with my brother and we will be viewing the Escape series!

My husband is currently working here. Wishing i could see him 😁 have a nice cruise

I would try NCL again. Our one and only experience was on the Bliss Seattle Inaugural so we probably didn't get the full experience.

How fun to watch you experience NCL for the first time! We just got to experience that same type of feeling on the NCL Breakaway!! Even though we had terrible weather, we had a great time on NCL (other than one of our group being locked in quarantine unfairly for the whole cruise...but that's a whole different issue.) O'Sheeans was a wonderful place for food anytime we wanted, and we loved our selections of meats at Moderno (Oooo that roasted palate-cleanser pineapple was AMAZING!!) Poor Dee; sorry she had a rough evening. God bless you both!

I love how down your earth your videos are and not over the top. It’s nice to see the different types of cabins you stay in. You’re both just so relatable! I hope Dee got better she still sounded like she was iffy about how she was feeling. I’m so terrified of getting sick on the ship.. my first cruise is in 155 days and all the information is so helpful.

I went back and watched these vlogs because we are booked on the Escape and I wanted to get re-familiarized from your vlogs prior to our trip and I just realized that I believe we are staying the same cabin as you did - 5133!! I wanted to ask if there was any issue with noise? It looks like from the deck plans the Supper Club is located directly above this area of cabins.

I've been on many NCL ships but not the Escape yet (Booked Nov 2022). I'm glad you gave a tour even if you didn't think it was to great, it was still nice to see around the ship. That line for testing has me concerned, how did you not end up in that? I am Platinum and I wonder if I would be in that line or maybe another ??

Get tested before you go to the ship and you won't need to be in that line!

No I was not feeling great before dinner either. So not to sure what caused it but I felt great the next day so all is well.

When I was on the Escape I was first struck by how dark it was in certain areas and, as a claustrophobe I really hated the elevators. It was like a disco sarcophagus. Scary!

How did y’all enjoy the inside cabin on the Escape? Would you stay in this exact room again?

Escape is my favorite NCL ship. Do they not use the app to book things anymore?

They do! You could book most things on the app, on your cabin TV, or on the screens in the hallways!! :D

how were you able to avoid the long test line on the first day? Do they give a check in time? if so do they enforce it?

Yes, we had an early check-in slot and they were sticking to the scheduled times pretty well.

Not from what we saw, no. Looks like that concept might have started with Bliss, Joy, Encore and continued with Prima, Viva, etc.

Yes, my hardside suitcase fit fine under the bed, but we just left Dee’s in the closet, hah. She didn’t even bother unpacking because we didn’t like the way the storage was set up in the room. She lived out of her suitcase for the week!! :P ~Jay

Moderno's is an all you can eat and if they bring you something you would like different JUST ASK! I don't like rice pudding with mango and our waiter Rick the Marine on the Getaway made it without mango! Wonderful Specialty Dining restaurant!

where would you plug a CPAP machine into at the head of the bed?

On most ships, you don't plug it in by the bed. You would request an extension cord from the cruise line and plug it in at the desk/vanity area.

I think that may be a mistake --- We chose NCL to Alaska because of their testing protocol, I know other folks did, too. Maybe they thought the "crisis" would be done by 2022?

I must be honest, personally, I think i'll wear my mask as per our home guidelines for sailings in Europe when I cruise next year in the US with Norwegian (masks indoors). The 10/14 day quarantine if I do get covid is not worth the inconvenience at all... especially half way across the world in the USA when home is Europe. I'd rather prevent it as best I can to avoid that situation, regardless of being vaccinated & boosted. The quarantine inconvenience is becoming a bigger issue for most now who are vax/boosted, provided you avoid severe disease. Anyway. I love NCL, hope you enjoyed as much as I always do, except for the persistent upselling...

Awesome... I'm so excited for this series. When returning from a cruise in Port Canaveral, but not with Norwegian, where can you go to have a covid test done? Are you guys cruising during Christmas? Have a wonderful cruise :)

After a cruise? We haven’t had to test unless we were moving on to another ship, and we use the at-home tests. We won’t be cruising over Christmas, as we always reserve that time for being home with family!! :D

If you have internet access maybe check for a CVS minute clinic rapid Antigen test in the Port Canaveral FL area when nearing there! Up to 14 days before an appointment can be scheduled! You might have to call to see about cost! I use Medicare and Florida Blue insurance in the US! The test results took only 20 minutes and NCL accepted the test and I'm sure other travel should!

Escape actually wasn't too much of a massive beast, relative to most newer ships afloat these days. We enjoyed the size overall!! :D

How does pricing compare to Carnival

Quite a bit more, but they specialize in these "all inclusive" style packages where they work in specialty dining, drink packages, etc. They do have a basic rate called the "sail away" rate on some sailings though.

Cant even begin to say how disappointed I am that NCL decided to have Starbucks as their only coffee.
