Look.... These girls have only passed the first year, as conscripts, and can only be considered conscripts at this point, albeit in the Ranger-squad, which is a tougher program than most conscripts experience. This is a year which is voluntary, but it doesn't make you deployable, in a conflict-zone at all. Also, 3 of the girls completing the ranger-conscript program chose to end their careers here, to do other things (most likely to apply for police-school or other civilian activities). They are not finished with any education, this was a conscript/selection-year, 8 out of the 11 girls chose to actually enlist in the army for further training and specialization and respective programs. Most go on to officer-school, medic and intelligence. Only after completing those (and the grueling slated selection process for these programs) can they be considered for actual deployment. This series makes it seem like they are ready to go on actual ops as special forces, they are not. There are still no women in FSK/MJK/HJK, those are the actual operators/special forces that are deployed on operations. Thumbs up to the girls, they are tough as nails, but I doubt any of them will be special ops per-se. As tough as they are, it is evident that they are no match for a man, they were tossed around like dummies every time they had to fight a man...they are simply too light and weak for close-combat. Most likely they will operate under a similar model as the British SRR ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Reconnaissance_Regiment ), who work closely with the SAS on operations or, HumINT or other intelligence services.

@Thor Goumundsen Whats your problem? I said the girls are not sent into a war-zone after the "selection" you see in the show. (that would be both irresponsible and insane). Combat != physical fight. She might be a good shot, but any man (average man that is) could easily knock her on her ass, that's just reality and physics. Give her a knife and a gun and training and I am sure she is just as good as any man or woman. I seriously doubt they use her for front-line operations and high risk combat, rather than humint and intelligence gathering.(they are just as, if not more, important) Then again, that would be classified.

When they board the ship, their weapons are at port arms? Hard to kill the enemy if your weapon isn't pointing down range.

you guys do realise that the fact that they are women are why the physical standards are absolute between the genders, and the reason for it being all women is because male soldiers arent allowed to be near women in say for example afghanistan, and would therefore lack a lot of trust and information, whilst these women would be respected and accepted by civilians.

G-Me They're special forces among women, and can occupy certain positions which men can't. They're not meant for search and rescue nor high priority extractions. If you were to hold them to the same standards as men, maybe only one in a thousand candidates would remain in the end. What Norway is doing here is acknowledging that special forces have different meaning between genders.

No they don't. Some women have the ranger tab. But there are no women on the ranger regiment. Ranger school is about leadership. The regiment is a whole different animal.

Norwegian woman from the special forces has already participated in hot firefights in Afghanistan. At least one of them, a operator of a tower machine-gun on top of a vhiecle in a convoy killed dozens and dozens of enemy fighters closing in on the convoy to attack it with RPGs. She yes - these women when gradutated and prepared, in conjunction with seasoned male veterans, are able to accomplish military tasks that would scare the daylight out of most civilian people, men and women. Have som respect!
