Anyone else noticed that the Elite Air Force is the 137.? Just translating another comment: "The soldiers that are operating in this division has to be able to climb a 30 meter long rope, from 2 meter high waves (in the ocean naturally) - with full gear. Hardly something for the average marine."

You have to understand that a great deal of secrecy is bound to these special ops teams, and that their part in the war in the middle east was, at the time of the filming of this documentary, deniable ops, meaning that the Norwegian government could deny any relation to the actions of both MJK anf FSK. So i believe that the man being interviewed had to be very careful about his words.

The best outfits in the world exercise, exercise and exercise some more. They build muscle memory and try to emulate stressfull environments as best they can because they know it will save your life in real combat. I've also been in the military too. I find it unthinkable that someone who supposedly has served in the military is saying exercises and maneuvers aren't directly linked to capabilities. It's exactly what separates good from bad. It's too late when you're in combat.

well it makes perfect sense, Norway were under Denmark for many years and addapted theryr way of writing (it very similar even today) and after we got rid of Denmark Sweden came and ruled over us until 1905

@MrGaute96 Have you seen the size of the american forces? And the available equipment they have? Plus the experience they have, compared to norwegian military, they would have won with 1/10 of their forces against our Norwegian military. In Norway there is about 3-5000 professional soldiers, thats nothing compared to USA's forces.

Norwegian, english and german is very similar (and danish and swedish aswell, but those are only the norwegian with half or no brain, versions XD ) We have very diverce pronounciation though, only in Norway there's probably around 500 different dialects, and we have two norwegian languages, so it gets a little complicated XD (language should be easy, the dutch speak 4 languages and smoke marjiuana XD )

Oh the never ending, childish fight between kids behind computers... all special forces of any fairly developed country is pretty damn good at what they do, and if you were to talk to a special force soldier, regardless of country, they would laugh at the idea that some people actually dicuss which force is the better. They all train to reach the same standards, and once you reach them, there is no best, there is just equality towards the standards.

Ok look, im from norway, but im not gonna brag about the norwegian special forces being the worlds best... every countries special force got their very own speciality and especially their own country... In the 70's the Belgian Para-commando's where the best trained soldiers. Ever heard about a war simulation in Italy with America's army of 5000 infantry vs 300 Belgian Para-commandos. Belgium won. Also they have proven to be one of the best in tactical warfare during the war in Kongo for example. And again...it's pretty sure that each nation has their victory's where they can be proud of. The point here is that soldiers act differently in real warfare and EVERY kind of unit has that problem!

That's right! On this moment we can say that the SAS are the most advanced SF if you let me put it that way. Also America has proven MANY times during history that they made a lot of tactical and strategical mistakes. I can't stop thinking on a few situations in their Vietnam war? For real...there were situations even the youngest child could know that they made stupid mistakes which have cost many lives!

I find it quite strange that several norwegians here points out how much bether special forces the norwegians have. Americans and Norwegians are supposed to work togheter not compete. Im sure the Norwegian qualifies in several areas where the americans fail, but you should not forget there are several areas the americans qualify bether than the norwegians.

Just because you practice alot doesn't mean your army have to be any good (besides, unlike the norwegian special-forces, for example the US army don't keep the best of the best for very long, so the experience is lost before they start another war). Also Norway has the fastest warships, the best MRE's (meals ready to eat), 7,62 (G3) rifles, fighter-pilots used to cold dense air and insane flying through fjords etc. Meanwhile America lets their poor fight for the country that made them poor.

Wargames, exercises and maneuvers is what determines someone's capabilities in real combat. Every military outfit knows this and that is why they put a lot of effort into performing as best they can. Take this analogy; It's seconds (and less) that separates the best athletes in the world in many sports. Western SF use the same equipment. They do the same exercises and train together on joint ops. I believe scandinavian SF are best in artic warfare because it's what they know best.

They completed what is the hardest training for a normal conscripted soldier, that doesn't mean they are even close to be considered a real special operator. But it is true that their year in the military is tougher than the year 99.9% of all the other hundred of thousand`s young Norwegian men have experienced since 1945.
