Surtningssue is one of the peaks in the Jotunheimen Haute Route and is the 7th highest mountain in Norway at 7769 ft (2368 m). It is located next to the famous Besseggen ridge. The view from the summit is really magnificent. It is a mountain that is accessible to most people, however the hike is quite long and takes many hours including breaks. It's an advantage to be in ok shape. It can be easily reached from Gjendesheim DNT cabin, however you need to take the Gjendebåtene ferry to get to the starting point which is Memurubu cabin. Alternatively you could obviously walk along the incredibly green Gjende lake or hike Besseggen "the wrong way" to get to Memurubu. The hike from Memurubu over Raudhamran takes about 4 hours 45 minutes and is approximately 5.6 miles (9 km) long. Alternatively you can take the trail that goes through the Memurudalen valley, that's about 1.9 miles (3 km) longer.
