Nortje three wickets in both innings

That spell from Nortje is worthy of a spot in the archives of genuine fast bowling. The last time SA saw a spell of that quality and pace was from Rabada in 2018 vs Aus when he took an 11 wicket haul. Rabada has since lost some pace. Really excited to see some hostility real pace and passion from a bowler...mAkes the game of Test cricket watchable.

Exactly. I always say people who find tests boring don't understand bowling. They only understand when the ball is hit hard. So much suspense and beauty in a bowler pushing his body to the limits for that consistent scorching pace on a good line and length (or ripping turn pitching on just the right spot).

And you have players like Malan, Stubbs, Brevis, Rickleton, Coetzee and the other Jansen as younger players coming through including Jansen, Ngidi, Verreynne, Andile and Mulder all 26 and under. The current coaching staff and provincial setups is doing great. Strangely optimistic. Next 5 to 10 years is setup incredibly well.

I hope he tries to hang in there and play the long game. He has shown that he can take on fast bowling. I have/had similar hopes for Jamieson as well. They should look to score 100s soon, like Ashwin/Jadeja. All the more important if SA don't play Mulder.

I think Jansen can average under 20 with the ball in SENA potentially. SA had a fast medium big guy in the 70s Vince van der Bijl who ended up with a first class average of 16.5. Batting ,he could average high 20s id say.

This South Africa bowling line up is shaping up well. Got Pace,Seam,Swing,bounce and Maharaj who also picking crucial wickets.

Rabada's strike rate and average is better than Steyns and he is just ahead of Steyn with wickets at the same spot in his career. In 2018 to 2020 All well players took retirement In 2018 abd and morkel In 2019 amla, duminy In 2020 philander, Steyn ( idk about Steyn but i think 2020) And in 2021 : Faf In 2022 decock So aprox 8 players took retirement from test cricket And will 6 players took retirement from all formats ( decock and faf are still playing white ball But Faf in remove from international that's why he is not playing) So it was very difficult for any team to regain its position But now prime South Africa is back

Hard to say if it is good as the Oz bowling lineup that has been performing well throughout the years with the likes of Hazelwood, Starc, Cummins and Lyon. This SA lineup looks the closest to be on par with them though.

Maharajs performance is also providing the required boost in spin department. Their batting is a bit fargile...which depends on the start they provide...

Back on track for number 1 test team as SA used to be in Steyn Morkel Philander era. First Saw elgar on series vs India back in 2012 when he use to be the only standout SA spinner damaging Indian batsman,then realised he will go long.

What a victory by SA! Complete credit to their bowling group. wreaked havoc. Absolute class and clinical performances put in by all of them.

What a performance by SA....made BAZ-Ball, look like SA-BALL. Well done boys, pace attack of highest quality and Nortje's spell, was spit with VENOM.

This was a treat to watch. SA bowlers were on fire! I really like Ngidi and hope he gets some more wickets in the next one! I hope they continue this form and play as well in the second test! It's all about consistency!

Ngidi bowled far better than his figures; Nortje & Jansen want to ensure that Rabada does not have to shoulder the attack. Erwee was impressive, Petersen was suspect in foreign conditions; He and Pope will be greatly admired in several years. England were not bad, just outclassed. Well done SA. Bring on Manchester, batsmen from each side improve your technique.

The way England batted in the second innings I thought it was a one day match. They did not play the game for a test match - that was the difference between South Africa and England. Also you can see the last four SA wickets costed more than 100 runs for England which also questions the shrewdness of Stokes captaincy. Definitely it is a wake up call to England. Without doubt SA bowlers performed exceedingly well and they are worthy of 20 England wickets.

@@keshavtiwari6179 there is a huge difference in short format and tests. In test you can't do aggressive batting all the time. Test cricket will always be game of patience not this bazball garbage. Can they play bazball cricket in spinning tracks in India or bouncy pitches with long boundaries in Australia?? Lets see...

i was being flippant, I imagine the WI had some great bowlers during the 60s and early 70s. Perhaps it was batting that let 'em down 🙂

Or just how awful England are at bowling to the tail… no matter who we seem to play we let them get another 50/60 more than they should do. Wouldn’t have made a difference today but we need to get back to bowling a good line and length to them…

That was a magnificient performance from the proteas, after so many years, SA is getting back into the form which they lost sheen many years ago. The SA lineup with Rabada, Notje, Jansen, Ngidi & Keshav are match winning on anyday with the ball. SA need a good batting linr which will makeup the best team at the moment. 🇿🇦

Ngidi doesn't do much honestly. Not hating on him, but I am sure there are 3 or 4 players in domestic cricket that could contribute as much or more than him. But they are the wrong skin color...

@@023achilles stop it dude. Should've listened to how Graeme Smith was talking how key he is to the attack, keeps pressure and mostly finishes with the economy amongst our seamers, today was no different as well. Batsmen aren't scoring as easy from him.

@@sudipmukherjee2906 Most of those wickets against India were when the game was already gone (not game over but India has 300 on the board, very different than striking when the batting team is on 60 or 70 runs). I don't hate him, I just worry about his fitness, and think selectors should make him work on improvement, by dropping him for a small time. A few months.
