In this video: A pair of Red Shafted Northern Flickers (a type of woodpecker) built a nest in my parents’ front yard. In this video you will hear Northern Flicker call sounds (adults and chicks). You will see close-up footage of the nest being prepared, chicks being fed, chicks growing up (and becoming quite entertaining), and finally, chicks fledging the nest. It was amazing watching the parents prepare the nest and raise their five chicks! I’m so grateful to have been able to observe and document this Northern Flicker family!
