Great video thanks! We are located in NSW and trying to create a lizard friendly environment as there's an eastern bluey that lives in our yard. What kind of mulch (for outdoor) would you recommend?

I live in Darwin too and thinking about getting a northern blue tongue, when the dry season hits and the humidity gets lower would it be fine with the humidity difference?

Hello! I don't know if I'll get an answer but is it possible to keep two blue tongues together in the same enclosure if they are the opposite sex?

This topic is very highly debated. It is generally not recommended as it can go wrong as it can cause the lizards to be stressed and could potentially injure or cause serious harm to one another. However, I managed to successfully house a breeding bair of Northern Blue-tongue lizards for a couple years with no incident. This was due to a good pairing as well as them being in a very large breeding enclosures whereby the could easily escape one another. You have to offer multiple basking spots and digging hiding spots for this to have any chance of success. If the stop eating, and are showing signs of stress and/or injured separate immediately. But again unless you are planning on breeding, and observing them closely, I would probably advise against it. Hope this helps 🙏

@@ReptileWay Thanks for replying! I wanted to know because I've heard that these guys are solitary animals, but have seen a few people be able to house some together. Very interesting stuff!

It's not something I recommend to people if they haven't had experience keeping Blue-tongue lizards and breeding them. Firstly, this won't necessarily work for all Northern Blue-tongue lizard's. I only have one pair that are in the same enclosure, Hannibal and Lizzy. When Hannibal and Lizzy were paired, there was alot of monitoring that took place. They are also in a very large outdoor enclosure with multiple hiding and basking spots etc. This ensures they can get away from one another. They have been together for years with no incidents. All in all it, comes down to correct pairing and temperament of lizards and having large enough enclosures to do this. It's quite a common practice with quite a few breeders in Australia. Again it is a hot topic of debate, I know not everyone agrees and that's ok 😊👍
