I'm from a small town in north Mississippi so this music is in my bones. Been listening to Luther and these true blues players since I first heard them around 2009. Can't imagine life without them now.

@justinpaloma Totally man, I play in a small little band around town, and go to as many local shows as I can, and you really can't match the raw emotion, power, and intimacy of seeing a great band in a small club/bar. I would pick a small venue over an arena any day of the week.

I am just saying I dig what these guys are doing, and wish this was the norm, not Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber. This has 42,744 views. Bieber is over 300 million. Just wish this, The Black Keys, Black Crowes, all that stuff, was appreciated more than it is. I'm not arguing with ya man, just digging the music.

I liked this era of the band too, they actually got better over timne, but they've had some membership changes and have gone from a three to a four piece some times, I'm not sure who is in the band but the brothers now. I like the side projects too such as The Word and N.M.O.

These guys are kinda like The Black Crowes.....the last of a dying breed, they play their own instruments, they have groove and soul, and they don't need auto tune or a drum track to be able to play like hell. If this came out in the 70's or early 80's it would be on top of the charts....now, it has only has 10000 views on the internet, while freaking Justin Bieber has almost 300 million....kinda messed up. Thanks music big time industry!

@wick2107 Yeah, and the black keys are also a 2 piece, and use alot of computer effect. I have also never heard the black keys play anything like this. All I was saying was that it is interesting how music has changed from talented groups that could play their asses off, to more of pretty boy/pretty girl hacking to a techno beat. The black keys may have won 3 grammys and are better than the top 40 crap out their right now, but still are an "obscure" band that most people haven't heard of.

People love to blame the artists and the industry for the music scene. Just like any other market, it's the consumer that drives the production. If uncultivated tastes settle for what is made for the lowest common denominator, then that's the individual's fault. I don't buy my clothes from Wal-Mart. I don't eat at McDonalds. I don't drink cheap beer. I don't get my music from the radio.

Does anyone else hear a little Pink Floyd influence mixed with a touch of Jimi Hendrix? Oooh, and put a spot of Steely Dan in there; mix it all up and here ya go. Edit: Oh wait......Lenny Kravitz in there....that's it. Now, mix all that up and you got it right here. Kick'n it!

You won't find many lead guitarist finger picking. But, it makes going from strumming to picking a smoother transition. Takes a lot of practice. Classical training helps.

The author Parrish Gore All true. Fingerstyle makes it a LOT easier to control the strings while playing slide. It's really hard to mute the strings you don't want to play if you play with a pick. Luther is basically a slide player.

@wick2107 I have to agree with you, Lady Gaga has a great musical talent and is an amazing concert pianist...too bad neither of those are put to good use in any of her songs. They aren't made to be good songs, they're made to make money.

Well Idk, I just think it sounds like the guitar was recorded through a cheap soundcard, with no amp, the drums also sound extremly thin. Perhaps they took so much of the sound in an attempt to make the live recording better.. dunno.. just sounds like crap really, but they play extremly awesome.

First of all, you have no idea what you are talking about. If Justin Bieber was back in the 70's, they would make sure his shit is on the radio as long as it sold and made money. The music industry was not all holy back then. If it sells it plays. Second of all, The Black Keys, The White Stripes, The Dave Mathews Band, John Butler,Tool, Ryan Adams, Sigur Ros, Laura Marling, Kings of Leon, Radiohead, Mars Volta and so on still make music and have good careers. No such thing as 'a dying breed'
