As someone who helped develop the Mass Effect games at Bioware I was both surprised and happy to see you tackle the Normandy! Great build; you did her justice!

I always find that the inside of the SR-2 is messed up, especially in ME3. (I counted my steps, forwards and side-wards) But with the Tempest her inside, from MEA, that could easily be countered, in style. (more deck space, especially on deck one via T's deck one round chamber, bigger cockpit, three bigger cabins, Admiral, Captain, XO, yeah; deck one as a admirals deck with warroom, ect, SR-1 staircase access from deck two) Would also require some choice elements of the SR-1, though. Canon SR-2 her inside & outside, don't really match up, especially not in ME3, just follow the cockpit lower line backwards, where is the room for the belly gun that's below the CIC? A beautiful design, that's hindered by the internal details. But yeah, for a details by hand, painted, he really did it great, especially for a 3D print. Of the print file itself, why did it not include a docking tube??? Would have nicely fitted with that cradle. It's the only thing throwing me off. Now, would this actually be how the SR-2 model would be displayed in the game, by change? Because if so...

Thank you for the creation, and for the Normandy. It sits up there as "iconic space ships in popular culture" like a number of famous peers. N7.

Plasmo: Ok, I'm going to do some modification on Normandy SR-2. Shepard: Want to join my squad Plasmo?
The artefacts on the prints are the rasterization of the screen showing up on shallow angles. That's why you should always orient your prints at roughly 45° to the screen axis system. Beautiful result, by the way. :)
@escapo6895

These artifacts will diminish as screen resolutions get higher, but they would need to double or more before they disappear entirely.
@ADRIAAN1007

I tend to rotate my parts 45 degrees to the screen and 45 degrees on the z axis gets rid of almost all artefacts except those on spherical surfaces.

Adding contrast blur helps as well as the orientaion you are referring to!
@livelyjay

You are correct, but a 45 degree angle will not necessarily remove the rasterization. There's an online calculator that takes into account screen size, layer thickness, and screen resolution to give you the best angle. My Anycubic Photon M3 has an angle of 36ish degrees to prevent the rasterization.

@@livelyjay thanks for the correction, I have never used a resin machine and was going off just general knowledge about the technology, happy to learn something new :)
13:28 the moment SR2 on the nose emerged from the shadow is SOOOO REWARDING! 200% worth the effort!
I have not played Mass Effect in almost 10 years. I bought the remastered version a few months ago, but didn't get to it. Awesome work !
Obligatory comment: 'This is my favourite model on the Citadel.' 😋
3 plasmo uploads in a month? A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
Your lines can be a number of things from Z Screw needing greasing, or build plate loose, to print speed Vs resin viscosity or FEP set up. If you were using clear resin for the first time then I would look at calibration of the machine for that resin (Print speed) and check the temp was within tolerance. On that note, Clear resin will go cloudy if you alcohol wash it, especially if the IPA isn't fresh. You also need to under cure it to stop it yellowing. Opacity will come back if you gloss coat it, or in the case of lenses or canopies, sand it with fine paper. With regards to paint creep under masking tape, if you spray a layer of the paint you are covering (white in this case) over the tape, or clear varnish before spraying the darker coat then you won't get creep. - just a bigger lip to sand back.
Whaaaaaaaaat! Ooooooooooo exciting!
David, I really appreciate that you are taking more time to explain your techniques and tips. In general, your videos are masterful demonstrations, but I can see that you're becoming a better educator in this craft.
There will always be layer lines. However, you can mitigate the issue to some degree by changing the orientation of the print. Making good use of the preview feature in the slicer can help you figure out the best orientation to minimize the layer lines. Balancing orientation with support location to help preserve details can be very challenging, so bring a big bottle of patience when you do this.

That……is stunning.

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous 😮
The Normady. Besides his many talents Plasmo is also a savvy man of culture and good taste.
I would love to see you build the USCSS Nostromo from Alien, or the USS Sulaco, or the UD-4L Cheyenne from Aliens. Those were my favorite movies growing up.
great work. Love this ship and I really like how you showed all your process of getting the resin ready. Thanks for presenting this one.
Outstanding!
I can't believe you would work for Cerberus Plasmo! ;)
i looooove sci-fi models! so excited to see more!
Very well done - always nice to see Mass Effect getting some love.
Excellent work! I love seeing you build sci-fi models.
This is hilarious! I’m in the middle of replaying the Mass Effect series right now. Fantastic build
Phenomenal! Easily one of the coolest ships in sci-fi, and you definitely did it justice.
Wow, amazing work, a real work of art!!
My favorite ship design, beautiful thing. Literally playing Mass Effect this year for the first time I fell love with it.
Beautiful creation!
Amazing ship for an amazing game!
wow I love it. Great work as always
That turned out great David, nice work.
Projects like this are exactly why I'm getting a 3D printer ASAP. The possibilities for random scifi ships is amazing.
Another top shelf product, continue your fantastic work.
I usually remove the supports before curing the parts. I put the printed parts in hot water and the supports basically come off on their own.
Well this was unexpected. Great work as always, the Normandy came out looking incredible.
Amazing model from an amazing series!
Amazing job as always
YES! I *LOVE* the design of the Normandy SR-1 and SR-2!
Beautiful.
Wow! So well done. Love it!!!!!
Very cool. Excellent result as always.
Incredible work as always :)
Beautiful work!
Looks great.
Can't remember when was the last time that I get stunned by a video thumbnail...... Mega job.
Thats the PURE EPICNESS! More Stuff from Mass Effect. Oh WOW great Job. Fantastic!
this is the most beautiful model i have ever seen. I've been looking and looking to buy an sr2 normandy model but they all look very low quality. this right here is a master piece, I applaud you my good sir.
this is my favorit vidoe from PLASMO
Love the switchup in subject matter!👍 I'll occassionally do something outside military subjects, as a way to keep things interesting. Great work, turned out amazing! 😳
I am Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite model on the channel.
Such a cool ship, good job!
great as always!
This is awesome!
Very cool model. Excellent work, as well.
This is one of my preferred video games, and you give justice of the Shepard commandant’s spaceship ! Awesome !! Look forward to seeing your next video🤝
fantastic work. ❤❤
I love it. Please make more 3D printed models! There are so many great models out there and its time to boost Resinprinting even more for builders like us to get even more creators for more awesome models.
Great build 👏👍👍
Professional as always. 👍
Wonderful model. Great work. As for the clear resin, I always sand it down to grid size of 1000, and then cover it with close varnish. That is absolute enough for led lights. Keep up your wonderful work!
Dude you’re amazing.
wow very cool! thanks for sharing👍
Hey man, first time here but I have to say what amazing job you did!!! Love the details you imprint on that model keep it up!
i literally just shouted 'WHAT' when i saw this in my feed. what an absolute treat.
INSANE WORK!!! (as always...)
Amazing! One of the best ships. Triple A work!
One of the greatest ships from one of the greatest game trilogies, and you took good care of the old gal
Awesome model and a nice ship, love the game as well, and keep those scifi models coming! :)
FAAAAANTASTIC JOB PAL !!! LOVE YOUR MODELS !!!! ❤❤❤
Great to see you doing some sci-fi. Star Wars or Star Trek models done by you would be a treat.
One of the big name companies needs to start producing models of Mass Effect ships (in addition to other iconic game ships). There has been no real love for them, other than those who have 3d printers (which I have neither the extra money or room for, to my sadness). My wife even said she would back up my modelling hobby as long as it involved ME, as she LOVES the series.

Wow that was so cool outstanding build enjoyed
Amazing choice for sci-fi model, way better than usual star wars/trek, thank you David! ❤👍🖖
Very well done. Love the model!
Espectacular 👌 👌 👌 👌
Amazing!!!!!
Thank you , David . 🐺 Loupis Canis .
I've started only printing in clear resin because of painting and lighting versatility. To get it to clear up, add a couple layers of clear varnish. Worked great with some DnD elementals I printed and used clear reds, oranges, yellows, etc. to create a nice fire effect. It doesn't make it clear as glass, but definitely gets rid of some of the fogginess to the print.
Awesome
When you are painting with masking tape, try making the first layer of pain same as the paint that was already on the model, then paint the color that you need. That way the first layer will seep under the masking tape but it won't be visible because it's the same color as base, and that will make a tight seal for the second paint that you don't want to seep and bleed.

You can also cut a new sharper edge into the tape, the edges of the tape are usually a bit ragged but if you cut them off they are much cleaner and form a better edge.
@antonio_fosnjar

@xTheZapper I mainly use painters tape meant for walls ... because it's cheaper and easier toget here where I'm from so this doesn't always work, depends on bas color and geometry of the spot
Never played Mass Effect, but it matters not. I *always* enjoy watching your builds. This is simply stunning.
This spaceship is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen, I played for a long time at ME game, such a cool thing. !!!
Very nice You do really awesome job building
Clear resin will always yellowed under UV, the trick is to add a touch of translucent blue resin in the VAT, cure it just enough and spray the thing with really shinny varnish after cure.
🔥🔥🔥🔥 Beautiful!!!)))
Even the "sprue' support structure looks good. Looks like zero gee strong backs and scaffolding for orbital shipyard assembly.
As always another Great video
So next one is hopefully Firefly-class transport ship Serenity!!!! That is a great Normandy though!
It is so beautiful
holy shit this was an awesome job well done thumbs up👍
Really cool! I'm not a gamer, but I am a long time sci-fi reader, and lover of all things space-related.
Wou, jako vždy mazec :)
That is awesome
wow amazing!!
I'm also working on the SR2 Normandy right now! I just finished printing mine and working on the sanding and cleanup stage. Great work as always with yours, I hope mine turns out as good as yours did!

It's a big ask since you need the right camera too but Plasmo video uploads in 4K where you can really see every detail would be killer. Great build as always.
Such an amazing job! Where did you get the model file?
