You should mention that the horrible game day traffic only happens 6 Saturdays a year every fall. Also if you don't care about football and want to get around town just wait until the game starts and you can go anywhere you want and just about have the roads to yourself. Just be sure to be back home before the game ends. You also didn't mention Norman's live music scene. Between Campus Corner and Downtown there is almost always somewhere to listen to live music. Surprised me considering the Marshall in the background.

Another thing to add is if you need your DFW fix I-35 is a straight shot.

Great point! Very quick access to DFW by road, probably quicker than flying out of OKC all said and done 😎

Does it snow in Norman? I think theres really 1 con in my opinion the Tornados Coming from a Californian everything else sounds tolerable we are use to Traffic over here on a Daily basis. What is the best side of Norman, more trees middle class to high middle class type areas, im tired of the ghetto in California i would like to find somewhere more peaceful good schools, nice calm parks nice quite neighborhoods a little bigger than average properties 10,000sq ft

It snows in the okc area once or twice a year, maybe 4-6 total inches are normal. Usually melts quickly. Tornados are possible anywhere in the OKC metro, not necessarily any data to indicate higher probability in any particular area/suburb. Not to downplay them, because they do occur - but I've lived in Oklahoma my entire life (44), and I've never personally been in a Tornado. Watches and warnings? Yes, but never first hand experienced a Tornado. And given the frequency with which I get this question/concern, I'm convinced most people think they are much more of a commonality than they are here.

@@livinginoklahomacityofficial Thank You For Your Reply I feel a Bit more confident in possibly making a move. Is there a Ghetto area in Norman? Or what is the best side to want to live in somewhere quite but also have a spacious lot to build a home to my liking I have 4 kids and plan on having more I think I'll need a big enough property.

Saw some new builds in Norman for 700k recently, only 3 bed 2 bath but it's a gated hoa playground made for rich transplants from expensive states like California to bilk them out of their cash. No employer in Norman Oklahoma can sustain a full neighborhood of 700k homes.

Norman is being ruined by too many people coming here. I was born here 63 years ago and I am so unhappy about what has been happening here with all the excess building, tearing down many Norman icons and landmarks to make way for chicken restaurants, discount retail shops and micro-mini apartments/dorms . Gobs of strip malls everywhere with FOR RENT signs. All this has brought exorbitant homeless people from other places and I don't even need to talk about the ridiculous traffic. Sitting through every stop light at least 3 times! I say, don't move to NORMAN! There is NO MORE ROOM FOR CARS!

@valerienewton908 Actually, yes, they can be the same. You do not own Norman, nor Oklahoma, or anywhere. Some folks or families could bring good things with them when moving. Maybe they are leaving where they were because that place had changed extremely, also. Things change. Ebbs & flows. Also, attitude is everything, btw.
