My family is based in norman. Been here since late 80’s. I have moved out of state many times but always come back for family but I would never live in any other Oklahoma town or city other than Norman. I would’ve listed game day traffic as a con and road flooding as a con as opposed to no Trader Joe’s or big malls. But to each their own.

Other pros include: Distance to the airport/train. Train runs through Norman to Texas which you can catch another train in Ft. Worth and go other places in the US. Will Rogers Airport is around 20 minutes depending on traffic. Direct flights offered to many major cities. I-35 crosses completely through OK (north and south), as well as I-40 (east and west). Dallas, TX is under 3 hours and so is Wichita, KS. Both easy drives...until you get to Dallas 😉. Being a major university town, we are very diverse which makes Norman great!! Of course Oklahoma hasn't had the best rankings (economy, education, health) as far as states go but, imo, Norman is the best place in Oklahoma to live and I'm a native Texan. Btw we do have good health facilities but then again OU is a big medical school.

There are a lot of great restaurants in Norman. Of course you’re not going to have the selection like you do in a bigger city but there’s plenty of great places to eat! I don’t know what you’re talking about.

I have been in and out of Norman since 95, Biggest con (after flooding) is TRAFFIC!!!!!! And it doesn't have to be this way. There is no rime or reason to its madness, Its like there is a red light every 100 yards and each one is a island all of itself. 1/2 the lefts you dont know if you are supposed to go or not (great for locals, maddening for tourists). It is like sometime in the past, someone had a grand plan & it got 1/2 done and then became obsolete & the only solution has been "Just ad more red lights" over the years. It doesn't have to be this way, Just get the lights to work in uniform together. But remember this is the same public works that a few Summers ago (2014??) had almost all East/West traffic blocked at some point with Lindsey (being Lindsey) Main/Robinson & Hwy 9/24th AND construction i think on the rock creek bridge.....I kid, I love Norman, But for Gods sake, do something about the red lights

population now is around 200k and homes are really high now. there is more demand than homes and even junky homes go for crazy prices. any home near ou is ridiculous expensive. and the further you are from town the cheaper it is but now they are talking about running a turnpike right thru town so this will affect availability as all those people will be displaced and be looking for homes...just sayin
