This has been best conversation on the subject that I've listened to. I extend my compliments to Oli for being a great interviewer. Oli was efficient in that he put forth only good questions succintly, and he was very patient as he allowed Norman to discuss his views with minimal interruptions. Yeah, it just seems wrong to call such a wicked government Jewish. Especially after so many centuries of Europe's Jewish communities doing *so* much to right the wrongs of the world, to oppose imperialism and resist capitalism, and feudalism before it. Granted they participated in a lot of that stuff as well but I would say that they're a vital, dynamic and admirable part of European history and I think it's downright criminal to say they're tied to or responsible for, the crimes of the state of Israel. Their insistence of maintaining a distinct identity in the face of the most powerful empires in history is exactly the kind of stubbornness I love. They thumbed their noses at the romans, the Russians, the british, the French, and the germans, and the Spanish, and kept on being them. Imagine the temerity,the creativity, and audacity that took, generation after generation of righteously indignant folks. Zionism was a terrible idea and if Theodore Herzl was still alive I would slap him for coming up with it.

It’s a majestic and a noble country. Its people are proud, strong, resilient, inventive, humane… I don’t think less of the Jewish community. It’s not about the people and the culture. It’s about politics, radicalism and propaganda on both sides. And one of them being overwhelmingly powerful. Israel’s government is reckless, volatile. They put themselves, the Israeli people and the whole world peace in peril. They don’t care about the hostage. They want Gaza, wiped out.

"Mostly civilians" - Incorrect On the 7th, it is crucial to understand that there were no direct attacks on civilians, only collateral damage. Out of the 1148 total names on haaret dataset, 473 military and 675 were civilians. Ratio of civilians to military personnel killed on the 7th was 1 . 4 : 1 - lower than any of the iTf "mowing" operations, which has a ratio of 7 : 1 According to UN OCHA data from 2008 to 2022; The collateral damage on the 7th was significantly lower than any of the ITf "mowing" operations, which had a ratio of 7:1 with 1,023 military personnel out of 6,541 total. On the 7th, with 473 military (418 were iTf military personnel, 55 belonged to the police) out of 1148 total, the ratio of civilians to military personnel was a mere 1.4:1 When including all casualties, not just deaths, the collateral damage ratio of the "mowing" operations is a staggering 162:1 From the 161,233 accumulated civilian casualties over only 14 years of "mowing" operations. A 162 :1 ratio means that for every 162 civillians, 1 military personnel is a casualty. The 7th had a ratio of 1.4:1, more than a hundred times lower. The 473 are - 55 soldiers, 13 privates, 59 corporals, 200 sergeants (45 of whom were sergeant majors), 48 commanders, 32 lieutenants, 5 lieutenant colonels, 6 colonels, 37 officers, 10 inspectors, 6 intendents, and 2 Lance Corp. This was a military defeat, and they are taking it out on the rest. I just love the clarity and honesty of his speech. People complain that he speaks too slow, but it is because he gives value to each and every word that comes out of his mouth. And you can tell that because his words deeply resonate. He is like a writer, carefully and methodically crafting the narrative of his story so that it will reach us without any shadows or gaps. My mother was a child of WWII. She always remembered being hungry as a child and later as a college student, even after the victory of 1945. My grandfather always mentions the hunger from the work camps. Being half polish and half Palestinian has given me a quote unique outlook on how lucky I am to have all the basic necessities of life, but almost feel guilty for such at time. Super sad.

I live in Brighton Beach Brooklyn so I am a neighbor of yours Dr. Finkelstein. My parents are also survivors of the European Holocaust. Unlike you, I was born in the Soviet Union and I lived in Israel in the early 1960's as a young child. My memories of Israel are very good and I have been dealing with learning more about the more realistic history of Israel, compared with what I had learned. That history could have been very different had Israelis and Palestinian had different leadership and had created a society which incorporated the strengths of the different populations instead of exploiting their traumas and vulnerabilities. I am horrified by what is happening now and what has been happening for the last decades. I don't feel Israel represents me or the aspirations of my parents. I think there has to be a shift in consciousness on both sides and I believe there will be. Unfortunately, as is usually the case, the "gods" of violence will destroy many lives in the meanwhile. Thank you for your devotion to the true principles of Judaism and humanity. As Margaret Mead pointed out, it is always a small group which has created change in the world.

After having listened to Netanyahu's opinions and thousands of Israeli kids on different mediums, I concluded that the Israeli society should be a concern for the youth of the world. If I had to use one word to describe the collective consciousness of Israel, that would be sociopathic.

Dear Dr Finkelstein, I feel that whatever I am going to say in response to your passionate, thorough and utterly pertinent contribution, it is not going to describe the intensity of my reaction to it. I gave myself some time to organise my thoughts before commenting by doing some ordinary daily tasks. In spite of it, four hours after watching this video, I am still deeply affected by much of what you share, describe and report. I am a contemporary of yours. I recognise some of what you describe as similar to my own childhood experience, albeit very different as well. One thing that resonates is the powerful presence of a mother whose experience to an important extent determined my own political development. It is the 4th of May, the official commemoration day here in the Netherlands. Tonight we will have a two minutes national silence in memory of all those whom died in ww 2. As a young woman I used to go to a memorial site of ordinary neighbourhood lads whom had been killed as they were resisting the invaders. I remember taking lilacs. People honour in their own way for reasons of their own. Tonight will be different from any previous commemoration as many people will be thinking of the atrocities committed against the Palestinian people. Yet I do not think a mention will be made of it. We'll see. I lived in the UK under Tony Blair when Irak was invaded. I remember how I observed with growing dread and disbelief how the fable of 'weapons of mass destruction,' was rolled out. I remember Dr.David Kelly. I remember his visit to Irak to investigate and I remember his suicide. Do I need to say more? Lastly, I have only last week come upon you via you tube and am grateful for now knowing about your existence. Listening to you and some of your interviewers, I felt at times that I was back in the seventies and hearing the same political language again. A language that has been under attack and, I thought, was nowhere to be found anymore. I cannot thank you enough. Lastly, for real this time, I want to take a risk here and ask you to look after yourself. I know I am at risk of being accused of sounding condescending, motherly and or interfering, but really I am being selfish here. Actually I think there are two if you count Miko Peled, author of The General's Son, whose grandfather was top Zionist general in 1948 and father top Zionist general in 1967 war. Miko Peled was himself a Captain in the IDF, but renounced it and has participated in most Palestinian protests over the years. Has many KZread videos.

You trolls like opinions and always seem to disregard facts. It is YOUR DUTY to read up before expressing your opinions: FACT 1. The West soundly W.O.N. WW1 and WW2 by defeating evil empires (like truly evil) such as the Nazis, Japan and even the Ottoman Empire. GET OVER IT! FACT 2. The West could do what it wanted with conquered territories, such as the British Mandate of Palestine (much bigger than todays Israel!). It was given to the Jews. GET OVER IT! FACT 3. The West or Israel did not create Gaza; a so called "open air prison". It was Egypt after l.o.s.i.n.g the 1947/1948 wars it started with Jordan & Syria against Israel. GET OVER IT! FACT 4. Finkelstein is not a tenured professor. His H-index (quantity & quality of research) is lower than mine even. SEE THROUGH HIS BS! His calm tone means nothing when what he says are mere opinions and sometimes borderline alternative facts and conspiracies. One less apparent example: His analogies about slave revolts in the US, which were indeed juste causes, are misplaced, misleading and even inappropriate considering the above facts (Egypt made Gaza what it is) and spreading terror, jihad, or religion is not a juste cause in the first place!

Nope, not “bravo, Politics Joe!” The questions weren’t “challenging.” The questions were framed in a way that betrayed this guy’s uninformed and thoroughly propagandized view of the issues at hand, and frankly, are offensive in their delivery and their implied content.

Not that any of those questions are a problem for Prof. Finkelstein. He eats implications like these for breakfast. Swats them down like flies. He’s an intellectual Michael Jordan. He dominates the court without even trying.
