A buddy of mine was roommates with Rick yrs ago in Montreal as he started his journey. To this day he says he was one of the best ppl he ever met. Sleep well brother

He's such an inspiration to me. He wasn't seen as "normal" by most people, and yet he was okay with standing out. He showed us that we are not our bodies, that we shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Rick, we miss you, forever and always

That was really amazing. It not only taught something amazing, but Rick has something that none of the other people on Ted Talk are: Relatability to the audience. What some people might have thought was unprofessional (the papers, joke pictures, etc.), a lot of people connect with. Almost all of us can relate to not being a good public speaker or standing out and not fitting in but this tells us that we're not alone, which is a great thing.

He fell off his balcony that had a low railing and wasn’t secure when he went out to smoke. His manager and friends were worried about it but he had said it was secure enough. RIP🙏🏻

Viankers Sad but truth. His look is the one side, his soul the other. Not all the "punkrocker" or the guys that looks "strange or weird" are in to drugs. He is a beautiful soul and I dont believe that he has his life ending. It was an accident... 💔

Viankers but the fact is it’s speculation. nobody actually knows if it was accidental or intentional or even if somebody pushed him because there were literally no eye witnesses or cctv footage of the incident, just him found on the floor below the balcony. all speculation, it will now and forever be a mystery. his family and friends will obviously fight for the accidental route for the fact he left no suicide note or goodbye, i think them thinking it was an accident gives them more peace of mind over knowing he killed himself without even a few words goodbye. who really knows...

Too beautiful a Soul lost a battle with themselves yesterday. I always think of this interview and this was the first thing that came to my mind after hearing of Rick's passing. May he rest easy. 💀🖤🕯 (8/7/1985 - 8/2/2018)

If people listened to him speak just once they would realize he is a very genuine and kind hearted person. Plus he’s damn fine 😝

I only just found this TEDx Talk, and while I admit I hadn't learned about him until the past year (I don't really follow celebrity life), I did get a little excited by the fact that he had done a public speech, and a very good one at that. Such a tragedy to have died so young though, I was in the Montreal area just a few weeks prior to his death, would have been awesome to have randomly run into him. It's always better to stand out, as hard as it is, and you definitely did man, you became art itself. Chaos and dystopia in the waking light, peace and amenity in the darkness. May death embrace you and be your guide through the eternal void.

I’m honestly so devestated he’s gone, I’ve followed his career through the years :( I’m glad he got a he chance to share his thoughts and parts of his life story in this presentation. To me we truly an fascinating person and a unique individual like no other, I’ll always remember him.

The term "normal" is a construct defined by society. This world would be such a better place if people would stop judging, who are we to determine what another human does, as long as that person doesn’t create an unsafe environment for others, leave them be.

I think he was original and had a cool shtik. Maybe his cancer came back, or just maybe something else affected him. He did live life his own way, and that makes him special. RIP Rick, you will be missed. At some point I will get a remembrance piece, just for memories....

Good message, can't say I was much of a fan, I knew about him though. Its still sad to see someone like him no longer part of the world. He does say he is bad at public speaking so that could be part of the problem. I know people who are great one on one in conversation but put them infront of a group, let alone a crowd, and they seem boring.

I hope that in his honour if not for ourselves, we can begin to understand and accept the "abnormalities" of life. We're all strange to each other and so long as no one is being hurt we should respect it in every regard and try our best to be understanding. This is something I feel I need to better about myself too, I'm not free from judging others on appearance but from now on I want to see kindness and empathy above all.

I have to thank him for boosting my confidence. Not because he became the face of the bizarre but that he didn't care one way or he other in such interviews and performances. All the vids I watched gave me the confidence not to do so either. I do not have a single tat as I have a preternatural fear of needles. I would have sold my soul to the red one just to look like him growing up. As being chubby was a cardinal sin back then let alone leaving body hair were it grew, man or woman. Even now after him helping me I could not do what he is doing in this video.
