judging by the way the price of the revell has appreciated over the past decade or so since it's been out, i am guessing by 2030 these norev s-classes will each be worth about as much as new autoart signature releases are today, especially cause they are high quality diecast which becomes more sought after over time.

The clear winner here is the Norev model. Even though the Revell one outshines it in a few areas like stickers, a more detailed grille, and more detailed cowl, the rest of the glaring errors and the questionable build quality make it a worse model. Did you see the rear headrests on the Revell model? Way too big! Nowadays, you can buy the Norev one for under $100 USD. Revell ones are more expensive, ranging from a few hundred dollars to a few _thousand_ dollars (for several years before Norev released their version, Revell ones were only available for thousands of dollars, which is a joke for any model, especially this one). Great review.

Your saying the undercarriage is very similar?? In what sense!! The norev is a single piece of plastic with no detail at all! The Revell is so realistic with a proper engine block, gearbox, Pro shaft, etc and so much more! And ofcourse unlike the norev the Revell doesn't have screw holes spoiling the look of the exhaust pipes.

I have both Gold & Brown (Still Boxed Revell) Plus the Green Norev version. Personally, I feel like Revell is just a better model overall. Working at Mercedes Design in the past as well as a family member having a new 1/1 450SEL 6.9 way back in 1979. Personally, I really feel like Revell is the overall winner here shape wise, but I like Norev's "bundt" style wheels better. Also, the Revell's rear lower body tucks under like the 1/1 and Norev's just drops like a hanging sheet. Marek, please check out lighter colored interiors of the 450SEL by Revell, they do impress a wee bit more. Cheers!

finally i ´m now able to see a comparison between the Norev and REVELL , since i only have the Revell (in black / bright interior just like your Norev BTW , but i need to repair/restore it) ! your video is a proof that the Revell is actually better, which is hilarious since the Revell is at least 10 years older than the norev ! just looking at the detailed Engine (and the right radiator on the Revell) , those thinner "doglegs" for the Hood/trunk , and I can declare Revell the clear winner here . of course the Norev is very close behind, plus it does have some advantages on the Revell ( the headrests on the Revell are too big ) , but like i said , there is a 10 year gap between them , and we´re not talking about AutoArt vs. Norev here , we´re talking about 2 comparable Modelcar makers . No wonder that those Revell 450 SELs still cost so much on Ebay (for old Modelcars of course) .

our 450 did have beige leather interior and quad round headlights (mandatory in USA) and featured automatic air conditioning, transmision was 3 speed auto, as most Mercedes V8 then

I have gold 450sel of Norev. I like dark colors of luxury cars, but this is an exception for me due to Turkish movie Mercedes Mon Amour. I watched it 6-7 times! 😆😆

Nice video, thank you. I would say overall I prefer the Revell model. The wheels looks a lot more realistic, so does the engine bay. I agree with you that the window frames are too big. But overall I feel it looks more like the real car... I have the W123 (230E) from Revell, which I believe is also a nice model. Even though the rear doors do not open.

we did owned a metallic light blue 1980 US Spec 450SEL with very big bumpers (the 5mph ones) and guess some 230hp, it consumed a lot of gasoline and burned rubber while starting but being still very quiet inside

Display quality of Norev is better I think. Swapping the engines and printing some decals might be good.

Nice review Marek! I have a Revell 450SEL in brown that I was going to sell but now I think I will hold on to it. I also have the Norev version in black and I did my own comparison to see the differences in both. The one thing that stood out was the oversized rear seat headrests on the Revell and It seemed as though Norev corrected it, otherwise Revell did win with some minor details over Norev.

Really nice marek. I got the norev w116 and what i found a bit dissapointing about it is the inaccurate scale of it. When i got it i parked it next to my otto w126 560 SEL and i was noticing that the norev seems to be too short. I measured the model and multiply 18 and got a car around 4,8 Meter long. In original its 5,06 meters. Norev made the model in a scale about 1:20

I just got the Norev W116 exactly like Marek's, and your measurements are wrong. It's 279mm exactly, x18 = 5022mm. That's too short by only 0.75%. The model is only 2.1mm shorter than it should be, which is barely noticeable. Norev did reasonably well on the scaling. The W126 is a bigger car at 5160mm for LWB and 1/18 scale should be 287mm.

Fun fact -> Revell did 450SEL with velour interior while Norev 450SEL 6.9 with leather one (if you compare them with real W116s).

The Revell bottom is much better than Norev, it looks like it has an actual engine there. The Norev is just a stamped plate. Although I seldom look at the bottom of my models. Even though the interior is black, it looks like the Revell seats have more detail. I prefer black interior overall, especially on real cars.

It is normal for both models to be different because the Revell version was made in 1972 while Norev represents the 1976 year, and get rid of that annoying metal tool that you use and find a plastic one! =)

I have maybe 20 plastic ones from different models, but only have one metallic - this is why I use it :)

Hi , goodmorning, I think The repvell' s shape in better than norev, If you compare The bach window, is more real, só all The body 's design is more real, The Door painels, but norev is also Very ditailed, both are Very Nice!!! У Revell есть несколько больших недостатков, которые перекрывают все его достоинства: Эта кривой не ровный, и не пропорциональный кузов. Выглядит кургузо. Арки колёс не верные. Колёса тоже не пропорциональные. А так же плохая краска кузова. Norev в целом выглядит красивее и точнее. Недостатки Revell не исправимы. А деталировку Norev вполне можно легко дополнить. Тогда Revell будет совсем в ауте.
