OMG. I so felt that autistic meltdown coming on with that first one. Amazing that she got her piece back and she did not go into meltdown. I know how hard it is for me as “high functioning” (gawd I hate that term because it is so misleading as so disrespectful to others on the spectrum) to contain things once the meltdown trigger happens. I just felt it in my chest at that moment and was so grateful you were so quick to return her brownie to her. I know it isn’t anything about her not wanting to share, about her not having empathy for you or others. If she is anything like me and other verbal autistics she may just be feeling a lack of agency and struggling with having to make decisions too quickly. Heart warming to hear her say & put more words together
the way she first put it and then took it back immediately😁❤
Awe mom! That was so wonderful how you stuck with it. With autistic kids, it takes many times just for them to actually understand what you want. Ad you know! I love your patients! And your daughter is reaping great rewards for it!
