Sources of nonlinearity in structural mechanics simulations:
- Material nonlinearity
- Boundary nonlinearity
- Geometric nonlinearity
Types of dynamic analysis:
- Linear: non of the sources of nonlinearity are included in the model like Frequency analysis
- Nonlinear: one or more sources of nonlinearity are included in the model like Crash, Explosion, Ultrasonic process, Machining process analyses
To compare the results of linear and nonlinear dynamic analyses, two types of problems will be solved:
1) Geometric nonlinearity is not included (Nlgeom=off)
2) Geometric nonlinearity is included (Nlgeom=on)
We will solve a problem using both procedures and compare the results. Moreover, the effect of the displacement value on the difference of the results will be investigated.
In the following tutorial, I will solve the model using the Dynamic Implicit step and compare its results with the results obtained by the Dynamic Explicit step.
Also, the necessity and the procedure of applying a filter to the obtained results (to remove the numerical noises) will be discussed in detail.

    Hello,......I am facing below mentioned error again and again during performing Dynamic Analysis in Abaqus. The error occurs as follows. The analysis may need a large number of increments (more than 20,000,000) and it may be affected by round-off errors. For accuracy, running double precision executable is required.

    Hi. At the start of the simulation, Abaqus approximates the needed number of increments by deviding the time period by the stable time increment size. If it goes beyond 20000000, we will face this error. To resolve this issue, you can go to the job settings, precision tab, and set both of the settings to their last choice. This solution will resolve this error but does not resolve the main cause of this error. For resolving the main cause, your model must be checked.

    I have seen this video many time and getting very interesting things from this. i have some question, how to plot the time-series with phase plot for frequency domain analysis under forced and unforced for geometrical nonlinear system, can you give idea how to generate periodic to chaotic plot under cont. excitation to the system.

    Hi. You are welcome. I think in the model which you need, the load must be defined as force control. You must define a concentrated force with periodic amplitude at the tip of the beam. As far as I know, phase plot has its own mathematical definition. You must get the related outputs like the displacement or speed of special points and put them in the mathematical definition in the visualization module via "operate on XY data" tool. Also you can get them by defining history output for them, So by opening the ODB file, You always have them. Also you can transfer them to the excel to put them in the mathematical definition.

    @@ahmedsharifshayborabeh369 You are welcome. To define force control loading, You must create a load from the load module. If you have beam, You must define concentrated force with appropriate amplitude. About your second question, you must explain the under period plot to me to understand it and tell you how to do it in Abaqus.

    Hi this is very interesting video. my question related to at 10:30 sec time where you had shown the displacement vs time plot. i want to know if i want to change x-axis time from particular range suppose 800-900 time range how ti do it. my second question how to define intial condition for dynamic problem. my 3rd question related to how to determine frequency response curve for model in nonlinear domain, as determine analytically.

    Hi. 1) Unfortunately, I didn't understand the first question. Please explain more about it. 2) Generally, to define initial condition in Abaqus, you must define predefined field. You can define initial velocity via it. 3) I remember that one of the steps of Abaqus can calculate the frequency response curve but it is done in the linear domain as the step is included in the linear perturbation category. If you want the frequency response curve in the nonlinear domain, you must do it via conducting a lot of simulations. Each time you must put a new frequency then rerun the model and save its result and do it again and again. Each simulation gives you one of the points of the complete curve. Unfortunately I don't have a simpler idea.

    @@FemexIran Thanks for reply. As my 1st question related to time-series analysis of nonlinear dynamics, as in Abaqus i have observe that when we get the results w.r.t time(x-Axis) the range automatically provide 0-1 sec, can adjust these time range as per our requirement.

    @@AlokKumar-vf4ku You are welcome. Actually, Abaqus plots the time series from its beginning to its end. Always the starting time is 0. The ending time depends on the time period of the step. For example if you set T = 10 sec, then the ending time is 10 sec. If you want to plot from another time to another, You can export the time series to excel and use a specific part of the curve to plot it. Also I think if you save it as a XY data, maybe you can modify it and delete the data before a specific point or after it. But I am not sure about it.

    سلام جناب مهندس امیدوارم حالتون خوب باشه بنده از مکتب خونه با شما آشنا شدم همین جا جاداره به خاطر محتوای آموزش آباکوس مقدماتی از شما تشکر کنم . اما استاد یه سوال الان بنده مقدماتی را دیدم اما هر چه جستجو جو کردم پیشرفته آن را در سایت پیدا نکردم . پیشنهاد میکنید چه طور ادامه مطالب را یاد بگیرم . در این کانال هم چون زبان بنده آن قدر خوب نیست اصلا بازده خوبی ندارم . خیلی ممنون میشوم اگر راهنمایی کنید . باتشکر
