I really must join Satsang Fred 😅 I've been listening to you Fred for a few years on KZread and bought your books which have been just soo helpful and insightful. I notice myself always being pulled back into this teaching whenever my attention wanders somewhere else for a while. Whether it's just dealing with my life situations or other self help work. If even one tiny part of my vastness is awake, then all of me is awake. I only need one eye open to be awake - not two, not seven billion. Just One.

There is no "self" to surrender. All of that is a misunderstanding. All characters are imaginary. In the end, Awakeness has to surrender to Relativity, meaning, What Is As It Is. Even Awakeness has no power over it, although it's not other than Awakeness. Welcome to the land of paradox! Hang tough.

Hey, Fred! Glimpse of awakening just happened whilst listening to you. It happened very suddenly. Thanks for switching on the webcam and speaking from a place of conscious unit to "yourself" that is in unconscious forms! No wonder that you are having so much fun when doing it with full conscious awareness. That's like sane insanity or insane sanity, right? But it works! Oneness witnesses a lot of conceptual fun :D

I love the profound inherent pointing, then the quick discussion about Portland's public transport system. which also is a beautiful display of oneness's diversity. Not the transport system. but the shift from encapsulating everything to it being unfolded and inspecting a system within the system. fk I can't find the words. Thank you for being as honest as seems possible at that moment. which at any moment like you say, couldnt describe complete truth.

Since there is intense seeking energy present, does that mean that seeking energy must vibrate to its highest for seeking to stop itself? Because there is no choice about whether I continue to seek?. Sorry, Alex. I knew what you were asking, Alex, and I was sort of being cute while pointing, but I blew it so that both 'cuteness' and pointer were lost. I'm afraid that there's a glaring TYPO in my first reply to you. I meant to say, "I don't know WHO you're talking about." My meaning was that there is no fred, and no path, thus there is no position for a fred that doesn't exist on a path that doesn't exist. The ox-herding pictures were very skillfully crafted by brightly 'awakened minds' (which is an oxymoron). I've often found them very helpful through the years, and I've referred to them numerous times in my teaching. Awaken Now has those drawings at the beginning of every chapter. One of my books has them, I know that, and I'm thinking it's Awaken Now. You check! But as skillful as they are, the drawings are still concepts pointing toward That which is beyond conceptualization, experience, or imagination, and prior to thought and its languaging. There no fred, ox, or man and no path to awakening, and in the end, there's not even an awakening. There is Recognition of True Nature, which takes place outside of space and time. Perception would tell us it's instantaneous, which is a useful and skillful description, but not actually true. In the end, nothing ever wakes up, but when Awakeness recognizes itself in consciously, that seeing-being marks the (probably temporary) closing of a divine trance state. The new state of knowing can be bright and clear at first, or not, but if it is bright and clear, that will almost certainly fade over a sense of time. You are correct in assuming that an awakening experience, even many of them, are not necessarily indicators of the successful completion of the ox herder's task. What I refer to as "clearing" is the always AVAILABLE, but typically untrodden path of post-awakening. Initial awakening is an INVITATION to the Divine Dance, but it's not the dance itself. Many seekers want to crash the party, but few of them want to stay once the lights come on and the liquor is gone. Here's a link to the ox-herding drawings, and I'll briefly comment on the sequence and its significance. kottke.org/17/11/jonathan-harris-ten-favorite-non-fiction-works Drawings one, two and three represent apparent stages of active seeking, up to and including one or more of what the Zen folks call a 'kensho' experience. Most nondualists refer to these apparently graduated 'pops' apparently occurring within perceived linear time as 'glimpses.' Regardless of the nomenclature, it's a good start and a big move in the right direction. Drawings 4 through 6 represent apparent stages of spiritual maturation, the apparently steady progression to that greatly misunderstood misnomer: 'abidance.' There will be bright consciousness happenings that are experienced as being more 'durable' than the glimpses They are not flashes in the pan, but neither are they 'permanent,' whatever in the world that word even means. Welcome to the sense of oscillation. It lasts as long as it does. It's different for everyone. Note, however, that these states cannot be permanent, because they remain as STATES. There are no handles to "get it and hold it." In the example here, there is background alertness to which this current arising is presenting itself. I know precisely WHO I am right now, although I don't know WHAT I am! There is no locatable 'I' entity here. Drawings 7 through 9 represent apparent states that are unrelatable to anyone who's not experiencing them. Drawing 10 is where the Masters abandon their capital M and become humble servants of Awakeness, which will very often play out as being a servant of mankind. I went a little overboard here tonight, so I'm going to publish this reply as a short post on AwakeningClarityNow.com.
