I bought the XR20 last December of 2021. Fast forward today, and it's still my reliable daily driver. For me, it's true to its ruggedness. I had a particularly nasty crash in a mountain biking trail, and the phone flew off my phone holder and slammed against a rock. As bad as the crash was for me, I just picked up the phone and it was still working as fine as before. Aside from the nicks and scratches from its frame, the only major damage was to its tempered glass; screen and camera were both fine. I have no issues using this phone for my day to day usage. Software is light and responsive, and it's still getting updates. IPS LCD isn't a dealbreaker, and I've used AMOLED before on my now dead Note 9. As for games, I leave the more demanding one to my PC. Although I do play some games on here, but they're not that demanding. The Nokia XR20 had the honor of replacing my Galaxy Note 9, which was laid to rest last 2021, as my daily driver.

Please bring back lumia phones❤️😭

X20 has been great. FM radio, headphone socket, 1tb SD of media, no fear of running out of battery.

Nokia is showing us a truly unique user experience. It makes no sense to increase computing power already. Convenience, reliability in everyday use, price and support - this is all that is required for comfortable use. Pure android is excellent. There is absolutely no point in ultra-expensive mobile devices.

I picked one up on sale direct from Nokia in the UK. I'd been using the G50 for work but some lovely person decided they liked it more then I did. I was already happy with the G50 so I knew they performance would be good as I got the 6GB model. The phone hasn't disappointed at all. Everything you've credited it for is absolutely true. I only have one issue with it and its that dam sleep/wake button. I wish they done it like on the G50. On the XR20 the cutout for the button isn't defined enough and it's flush with the frame. Also the sensitivity isn't great. I bet any money you also have experienced launching the camera an untold amount of times when turning the screen off. Apart from that I truly think it's totally worthy of the Nokia brand. It's a fantastic work phone. Great video as always👍

Yup, totally agree on the sleep/wake button. I think they should implement a software fix to disable the fp reader if the phone display is off which would kind of fix this. I believe I mentioned this issue in my review. Btw the newer G21's fp reader is much better to live with so hopefully if we see an XR21, this would be addressed. Thank you :D

Thank you for the review. My dad has always had bad luck with phones breaking, even with cases on them. This phone may not solve his problem of treating them roughly, but it might mitigate his issue of breaking the phone before only two years owning it. I'm still gonna make him get a case.

Aaaarh! 🙆 Abdul! This review is lovely. Great video. Now I'm hung on the XR20. That simple statement, "I don't have the heart to use an X20 without a cover", it just won me over on the XR20. Now to find one 🤦

I really like this device. I think this is my only regret. I love the Nokia 8.3 5G, it is an excellent device in every way. But I wish I'd have waited a bit more and gotten the XR20. It is just a great phone all around! Probably the best realized Nokia device since the elegant 7.1. If there are any follow up models over the next few years, it would definitely be my top candidate for an upgrade. As always this review was a useful update. Great to see how these models function months later. PS I hope you do a similar video for the Nokia T20 tablet when the time comes. Also, my phone doesn't even go out of the box without a case and screen protector...LOL

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your experience with this phone. I have been looking for rugged phones and the only phone I find that is very decent is still Nokia XR20. Your review has somewhat cemented my opinion, in due because you said you drive a lot and seems to put into test the XR20. I'm new to your channel and I'll be checking out your full review of XR20 before really putting my order to the phone.

Nokia will always have a special place in my heart. Since the Philippines has no way of locally getting a pixel phone, Nokia has been my savior. The only Nokia phone I have is the 7 plus but it proved to me that Nokia is my best choice for a low priced stock android phone.

Thanks for the good video. I already noticed a better battery life and i like so much the XR20. The laynrad is a also big advantage : easiest to handle with one hand, using it and doing many thinks or carryings bags... help doing stabilized video and travelling effect... well it's a peace of mind phone and very usefull with a good user experiance

The design of the Nokia XR20 exudes the beauty of simplicity but durability, Nokia should follow this design, looking at the edge of the device can be related to the design on Nokia's Symbian device. Camera is simple but quality, very similar to Camera of Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia should also follow this direction of Camera rather than many Cameras whose resolution is only 2~5mpx for Macro. Nokia needs to develop in the direction of simplicity, good performance, quality Camera and full, timely updates and limited errors on updates.

Abdullah are you going to try and get your hands on the C2 2nd Edition? It's a straight up throwback to the phones of better days, its only weakness being only 2gigs of ram(dont care what OS you use these days anything short of 4 is like having a PC without the minimum 8 needed for windows) and it's screen not being 720p

Hi! There is no official usb port cover for it, but the dimensions of the part are standard so theoretically any you find should work.

Have to agree on bringing back Lumia devices or at least bring back the design language with an updated aspect ratio and refresh rate. Lumias may be plastic but Nokia somehow made it look and feel more premium yet durable.

Unfortunately android isn't nearly as secure as the 1520 was and the only os that could do this is perhaps swordfish. None of them have the off grid GPS mapping like those had ( until ms updated win phone and ruined it)

Hello and thank you very much for the video! I find it extremely useful and was one of the reasons I got the Nokia XR20. :) In additon to the aspects you point out in the video I have the following issue: When I'm on a website and I want to take a picture to upload, a super-cropped version of Google Camera launches. Almost all the controls on the phone's camera, which are otherwise available in the Google Camera app, are missing. There is no zoom or the ability to switch from standard to wide angle lens! I installed BSG: MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV2b and it unlocked all sorts of new options, but the problem with shooting through a website remains the same - the super-cut app opens. At first I thought that the problem was in the way the website was made, but it turned out not to be the case. On other phone models, even those made long before Nokia XR20, almost all the controls from the Camera app are also available in the shooting app that the website opens. Does anyone have any idea where the problem might be and whether it can be solved in some relatively accessible way? Thanks in advance. :)

Had XR20 for 14 months and intend to keep for 2 years and then give it my daughter as a mini tablet. It's not a good phone but it's not bad. It does what I want it to do. Wouldn't recommend but it's ok.

It's good to see a phone that will survive daily usage (is that a lanyard loop I see in the corner?) I agree the fragile designs we see nowadays is stupid. What's the point with a great looking design that feels good in the hand if you have to slap a massive case on it? That just means you failed in one of the most important elements of your design requirements. The fastest processor and most glorious screen in the world is pretty useless if the display or case is cracked, isn't it? A cracked back or front glass isn't gonna do wonders for the water and dust resistance either.

Pretty much this. Its one of the reasons transitioning away from Lumia has been so difficult. Now you have to worry about babying your phone on top of other things. Using the XR20 is liberating in that sense. Yes, that is a lanyard loop, and I've used it when I went to a waterpark. Super useful

I bought my XR20 about a month ago and so far I'm very happy with it. I have only two or three minor complaints. First I wish it had eSIM capability. SIM cards are obsolete in my opinion. Second I think it should have included a charger. The sustainability aspect of not including a charger is a poor excuse to reduce costs in my opinion. Third the google assistent button on the left side is a little anoying. Sometimes I'm activating google assistent by accident. Otherwise it's an awesome phone. The casing and the touchscreen are the best I ever put my hands on. The rest of the hardware is pretty good too in relation to the price. I also love how the XR20 can so easily be cleaned under running water.

eSim don't come handy during emergencies if ur phone isn't working or if the battery is dead during a trek in the wild ect you don't have the option to remove the eSim and put it into another working phone...

I see your XR20 cant take long screenshots as well. Mine also gets stuck with the darkened screen and thats it. Hopefully they will fix it in the next update.

Hello, ypu did not mention anything about photo quality. Please describe in short photo and video quality in comparison to iPhone or Galaxy top models. Is it good enough for travel photography? Currently I use S20 and Xiaomi mi8 (not very happy with xiaomi photo quality).

In good light it can match any phone. And using nightmode can also result in nice images. But in less than ideal conditions the pictures are a bit soft. Anyway, you can also download gcam for it which fixes any problems you might have with the camera

Ha I'm using both these phones deciding between each, if the xr20 was the same size as my pixel 5 it would be an easy choice... Xr20 only issue is the size, is slightly too big.

dude my XR20 felt down like 100-200 times haha in different country and is still fine, but the last time it fell something on the side broke :( and now it doesnt feel nice to hold it but it is still good

I don't believe so

I've dropped my xr20 like probably 10 times off my loft bed, it's perfectly fine. No cases, no screen protectors. I'm completely averse to taking any electronics under water unless they really look waterproof.

My Nokia 4.2 just got it's last security update(my 4.2 was a good phone, even with the Android 11 update glitches) and i am looking at the XR20. But in Germany it's still hard to get one, i'm gonna try again.. :)

I need your help! I'm using the front camera to make videos to test quality. When I am making the video, the camera mirrors which is what I want, however, when I stop the video, it saves and flips the opposite side! :( When I take pictures using the front camera (portrait mode), it's perfect! Why does this happen to my videos? The Snapchat videos are perfectly fine but the Nokia front camera videos flip when I save them.... :(

What about camera?

How would you say the camera performs? I have a Galaxy A52 but I'm expecting this to be not on par but I'm okay with that. (I'm fine with something on par with Motorola, never needed high end features like 4k) And is GPS performance good? My A52 running Google Maps in the first few minutes never gets the positioning right.

I would stay it's a step below the A52 in imaging, but not too far behind. You can always use gcam which improves sharpness dramatically so you can work around some of its limitations. GPS performance is excellent. Quick to find you, rock solid throughout

I just bought the Xr20 in Amazon UK on a Amazon warehouse deal for £140 ,it's like new !!! Bargain or what !!!! It retails for £399 and now down to £319 , I got the 64GB/4GB ram , however I won't install too many apps , but will put a 256GB MICRO SD card in it so I can keep that for ALL MY DATA, only negative is that you cannot install APPs on the microsd

I bought a new XR 20 (128GB) last week and when video calls using WhatsApp, MS teams or Duo is made the using the front camera, some bad processing happens and a low quality video is produced during the call. The issue is only for the front camera. I did all the steps suggested by he technical support from HMD global and did factory reset twice. But the situation is the same. Any one facing the same issue?
