As long as it worked it was very nice. But after about a year some functions started to fail. After 2y, right about the time when the warranty was gone, the hdd died. Tbh, a spinning hdd was already obsolet in 2009/10. That sensitive HDD was it's achilles heel. In my case, at least. But in 2010 SSD was cheap enough to make that hdd oldish anyway. But it was a quality device. Those sliding keyboards and all that worked beautiful. You really felt that you had something of value in your hand (more so then today where a 150usd phone more or less looks like a 1500usd phone. Sure, the specs are totally different, but at the first glance they seem pretty similar and even feel similar).

@@NBOnijmegen yep the N95 uses a memory chip with 8GB and I used it fine upto 2014 with 0 problems and the battery was still holding OK cause I only charged it almost weekly since I wouldn't use it much cause it would be too slow for web browsing... But so many hours of enjoyment I had with it playing music in it's nice speakers, specially when I went as road commissioner for the rally here all day long I mostly spent hearing music with it to burn time.

But nowdays N95 and N96 are almost worthless. The operators are taking down the networks for 2G and 3G. So you have to rely on Wifi and what can you do with that now? You can use the web browser but the web has moved on with so much HTTPS and stuff so you cannot browse the web. If you're lucky you can load some web pages if the server allows the web browser. I got both N95 and N96, now in 2024, and you cannot even install apps. You get certificate errors. Maybe if you're a huge tech nerd you can solve that but I cannot do that. So you can still use some games that are local single player, and some apps. Plus the camera and the music player. Still really good as a camera! The phone is very limited now compared to back in 2007-2009! 2G and 3G still works but the operators are taking these networks down. Different phasing out in all countries but probably pretty similar. Starting at Jan 1st, 2026, only a few countries will still have 2G and 3G. Today's N95/N96 are probably iPhone 15 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S24 (the better models).

I really love this series. I'm a big fan of nokia until the very end of the old nokia. I'd love to see more and probably have a sub playlist based on the type of phone (s40 feature phones, symbian 60, asha, etc.)

Nokia was the best in its original days for almost a decade. Cellphone manufacturers will never be as innovative as Nokia; let alone the whole N Series lineup, which was consistently innovative.

Omg this video was like a time machine, this was my first phone ever and i used to watch movies on it in 3gp formats. It was truly my most prised possession and being able to slide the screen both ways was mind blowing to me at that time

Hi Abdulla! I had lots of Nokia in my life and I think that they were the best phones in that era. I have a Nokia N95-1 and It still working, but unfotunately some keys stopped to work. It is very sad. Thanks for share your videos to us, It is a very jump in the past. I'd like to live forever in this era again in a loop. I am very nostalgic for these things. It was my best life time. Ps. Sorry for my bad English, it is not my primary language. Bye!

It's hard to believe we will see something from HMD as feature packed or remarkable as the N95 8GB. HMD don't have the resources and the landscape has changed so dramatically now. It's a fact the slab is nearing its peak. Foldable phones from Samsung and such are probably the next big leap but HMD would never be able to add to that landscape. The best they will probably muster is the X60/70. It's safe to say that Nokia of yesterday is certainly gone for the foreseeable future. The phone sales are just not there to warrant the R&D needed to produce something that had the impact of the the N95 and more specifically the N95 8 GB. I've been saying for ages now the just need 3 phones. Budget like the 1.4. Higher budget like the 5.3 or 5.4. And a true feature packed midrange. All they need is a good SOC. A good quality screen. Descent cameras and an updated build of the Lumia 920, 1020 or N9 with true minimalist design in the retro colours maybe. Maybe I'm just wrong but if your gonna do budget, use your strengths and do it right. Great vid as always.

3:33 Great camera for the period and 480p @30fps is DVD quality with a better frame rate. Not bad for 2007 either. At least by the numbers alone.
