jp.vice.com/topics/compton
**********

“Started from the bottom” always triggered me. Drake was living the exact life that most teens in the middle and lower class dreamed of. “Nuhh I had to borrow my uncles Acura and he wouldn’t let me keep it out late”. Meanwhile a man from an area riddled with gang violence, where most people will had personally known victims of gun violence, still maintains a more positive message. Generally, except for when it comes to dismantling the biggest crybaby in music.

yeah, if anyone started from the bottom it was Kendrick. He got out of there against all odds, and this video is just a snapshot of the conditions he had to grow up in. Aubrey has no respect for what people actually go through at the bottom, he's blinded by his own ego and only sees what's around him. There are so many people who would love to see what Aubrey had at his lowest.

Bruh this is silly. It's all about perspective. You can be born in the hills and still have obstacles and hurdles because of your perspective. Drake may have not been born in Compton but his perspective from where he was as a child to a single-mom and as an actor scouting for work to where he is now; he sees it as coming from the bottom to the top. It's ALL PERSPECTIVE. We outchea playing oppression Olympics and wearing our poor/humble backgrounds as a badge of honour when in truth no one cares. No one asked our parents to have sex and make babies while living in a shit hole. I was born in the hood too, just letting yall know. This isn't coming from a privileged perspective

Yes but this is different. Depending on the state a hood could be lower income housing, some people doing hard drugs, and the local drug dealer but going from that to multiple killings, drive bys, and a plug on basically every corner is completely different. On one end the people living there know what happens but it's very dl, on the other hand it's brazen and violent. Those are enormous differences.

They his family
I know the secrets, every other rapper sexually abused I see 'em daily buryin' they pain in chains and tattoos So listen close before you start to pass judgement on how we move Learn how we cope, whenever his uncle had to walk him from school His anger grows deep in misogyny

Eye opening fr, Drake chose the wrong one
What I love most about Kdot is his story, his influence, and his humbleness. Like he has almost 100 mil and lives in a normal Cali Suburban house and doesn’t weigh his neck down with chains and doesn’t wear expensive cloths. He’s literally wearing slides joggers and a white tee.

I can’t wait to see what the new album sounds like
Ahhh it’s been years since I’ve been on this video, it’s good to be back 💯
Wtf lmao now that kendrick dropped the album im getting all kinds of vids of him lol. Got heart pt 1 for old time sakes, then the video about kendrick's "ass song" which is basically from his C4 mixtape, then this...so many XD. love to see more of kendrick,no matter the era. what a time to be alive. edit : oh wtf they removed the original video lol

Who here after Meet the Grahams is the real question!!! 😱
Kendrick writes the stories of his people from the streets and the oppression pushed upon them. He’s a poet from the streets striving to ignite the spark for this generation and the next. Drake could never understand this life. Only through the pictures painted by Kendrick’s pen like the rest of us.
here after “meet the grahams”🫤
Even KZread's algorithm thought Kendrick won.
Alright
I remember first seeing jay worthy when this first came out great to see him goin up 🤟🏾
my thing is y’all are judging these gang members and not realizing that some people did not choose this but was raised into this. children can be raised into gang violence, gang mentality, poverty. a “gang” could be one’s normal, “the hood” can be all someone knows. for some it’s a choice for some they born into it you can’t call Kendrick a hypocrite he reps where he’s from he can preach positivity around these thugs and gang members because that’s what they need personally in THERE life. it don’t matter if they working or not so it’s weird to see y’all calling him a hypocrite and talking shit about his friends. it don’t matter what life they lead and how they leaving they deserve better and great things and please refer to these men as people and not “gangsters” they may look like em but these are young men. human beings. Kendrick friends. have some respect
Love the documentary. Fair.
