This episode is based on a true incident that happened with Great White. They were playing in a small club in Warick Rhode Island and the fire Marshall told them no pyrotechnics. The tour manager set up the pyrotechnics any ways. 100 dead 230 injured. The club was way over capacity and when the fire started everyone made a rush for the only exit the front door.

So for anyone who wants to know how this case shook out... Spoilers: Teddy didn't do it. His illegitimate daughter did it in a well-intentioned but misguided attempt to win her father's acknowledgment. The episode ends with Teddy being acquitted of all wrongdoing, still refusing to acknowledge his daughter as his child, and the daughter is working out a plea deal for a reduced sentence.

Ok, I looked up this Great white concert someone mentioned in the comments and it fits what happened in this clip. Some jackass thought it would be a good idea to have pyrotechnics in a nightclub and 100 people died including one of the band members. There's a reason pyrotechnics are only done in open arenas.

Seems to be based off of The Station Nightclub fire. In real life both the band and the club owners blamed each other for the fire, the band because the club approved the pyrotechnics and the club because they claim they weren’t told how big the flames would actually get. Only the club owners served any jail time for not having proper fire safety features in the club and the band got off with only paying out in a civil suit. Though, the band manager did plead guilty to criminal charges against his lawyer’s advice (he probably would have got off with only the civil suit like the rest of the band) out of a sense of guilt unlike some of the other members of the band who to this day don’t admit any responsibility.

The owner of the club knew that the sound insulation that he installed was highly flammable. He ordered one product, but they delivered the wrong one. The owner didn't want to wait, so he decided to have the flammable insulation installed instead. He knew his insulation was dangerous, and the proof is that he was also a TV reporter, and he had done an expose' on this very same sound insulating material where he referred to it as "a solid form of gasoline". Then he installed it in his own club.

It was the daughter behind the flames to make them bigger than normal. She admits to adding more powder to the flame throwers. 🔥😉

The best part of it being true is Ozzy didn't know it was a real bat until he bit the bead off although it was dead, that's why he didn't think it was real since it wasn't moving. But he did bite the head off other animals.

L&Os magic is it transforms front page crime stuff to drama. In literature Updike watched TV and it went straight into the Rabbit Novels. Howard Johnson's Sniper Essex goes in the book. OPEC-Toyota-Odometer Fraud in the book. Black Militants staying with Rabbit Angstrom straight from the TV or glancing at the cover of Tom Wolfe's Mau Mau and The Flak Catchers. Wife Swapping. All the rage. All set in Pennsylvania. Adapt what you see and write what you know.

Man, they killed 23 people just to make this show. Television sure is brutal.
