    Ive seen a lot of haters of Butterbean saying he was a joke fighter. I decided to come back and watch myself after not seeing him fight in a long time and people are tripping. He was very legit.

    You'd be surprised how quick fat people can move. I've seen a 21 stone guy outrun a 13 stone me. They can shift.

    The first time I saw him walk into the ring, I yelled at my wife to 'come watch this guy". She and I had watched boxing together for several years and I knew something special was in the works. Always enjoyed watching him fight.

    He was loved all over the world. He finally retired in his home town of Jasper, Alabama and owns a BBQ restaurant. If you go there he and his wife will spend time talking to any and all. He never ran from any fight. Glad he lived to retire with some of his health, as the fight game is deadly. Butterbean was fun to watch and a nice guy too!

    Butterbean, what a great Boxer!!!! I remember getting together at a friend, Carter, with a bunch of guys for boxing night in the early 90's and seeing a number of these fights and a number of others. The stamina and constant pressure and output from Butterbean was incredible. Truly a great boxer. I wonder what he's up to now?

    LOL "top boxers in history" I almost spat my coffee out. He was never even close to being ranked in the top 10 by any governing body , his highest rank was 33 and most of time he was ranked outside of the top 100. He only fought 4-6 rounds vs tomato cans and lost vs a 52 year old Larry Holmes. He could throw a punch and that was about it

    @@NoChance-oz4dda majority of those “governing bodies” have been both criticized and scrutinized for rigging matches over the decades. I’m sure Butterbean in his prime could’ve not only contended with, but dominated most matches against these said “pro boxers”.

    Tyson would murder him not even close. He hits just as hard and is about 10x the skilled boxer. Butterbean was never more than a spectacle. A greasy spectacle and worthy of respect but its like saying 80s Lakers v Harlem Globetrotters would be a dream series.

    I love the Bean. Hes the big middle finger to the establishment. He was never supposed to succeed, i mean look at him! He faced some pretty jacked up dudes and dispatched them one after another. Never judge a book by its cover.

    This guy was scary: he didn’t look like much in interviews, but damnit, when he got into the ring, you could really feel the sheer anger and power. When he won, it was worth every dollar.

    Eric Esch! He WAS a beast killer, and a beast himself. I wish he would have fought the giant Marcus Royster’s little brother the k-1 Beast Carter Williams in a kickboxing match or boxing Carter Williams was a boxer as well. CDub is the Mike Tyson of kickboxing. Perhaps Butterbean should have fought Carter Williams, and Mike Tyson or just Iron Mike himself.
