You always give us motivation. Here is a hack: If you have Cascade Complete Platinum dishwasher pods, put one in a coffee carafe when it gets stained. I run water through the machine and let it sit for a few hours as it stays hot. Then I pour the water into a big skillet, put a grimy bottom skillet in the bigger one, and turn up the heat to a boil (watching it carefully). That cleans the grimy bottom of the skillet and the inside of the bigger one (as needed.) I'd love to see how you clean a coffee carafe and the grimy bottom of a skillet (with less work than I expend.) I enjoy all of your tips and in this video using aluminum foil balls to sharpen an emersion blender was my favorite.

I learned the bamboo skewer trick from a Canadian crafting show at least fifteen years ago. I bought numerous packages at discount prices and now have three knife storage containers. The only drawback is they become dust collectors over time, and the cleaning/drying process is time consuming.

That skewer technique is brilliant. I've always used cheese cloth (because I know it works for everything, like thyme, which the skewer won't work for). Just another tool to add to my kitchen! Thanks for bringing back the old water droplet technique to figure out if your pan is hot. This has been used for at least 200 years that I know of, but folks forget over time, or never bother to watch their elders cook. It's a tried and true method that doesn't require tech to do. That you have revived this method makes my heart full. I appreciate the cleaning of the pan, but while it's hot after cooking, all you have to do is deglaze it with water. Pour water in the hot pan, wait a couple of seconds, and wipe it clean. I can see how lemon and baking soda would help had the pan come to room temp. If you don't let it come to room temp, then you don't need this step. Most of what would cause this burning will need to rest for a few minutes anyway before serving. You've got time, even to run water in the pan and then let it sit. I get the lemon/vinegar/water thing, but you showed heavy mineral build up and didn't show that it actually cleaned it. It worked pretty well where you filmed, but it's not all gone. Be honest with your viewers! When dealing with a good bit of buildup, be honest that it could take 2 or 3 applications and a few hours to get it off. I am on a well with very hard water. The best I've found to remove these hard water stains (and I've used your method) is apple cider vinegar. Spray, let it sit, and then scrub off, and what won't come off will with a window scraper (just understand that the vinegar has to be able to sit without drying, otherwise it's useless). Don't want to scrub and scrape, and repeat? Fume free oven cleaner. Yes, I know it's chemicals ... but how much of your life to you want to spend removing hard water stains? Honestly, the best remedy is to clean, wipe, and dry all of the offending spots every time you clean so you don't have to clean these stains later in the first place. It's better to spend a few seconds to clean these spots every time they're used than to spend an hour or more later trying to remove what you were too lazy to clean at the time. Once a week won't cut it. EVERY TIME. Vinegar is always a great option for cleaning as it has antibacterial properties. That tip with the wet paper towels and an iron also works for lifting dings in wood furniture. Okay, who really needs that can tab hack? I'm impressed that you show what that hole in the tab has been used for since it was invented, what, almost a hundred years ago? Now, folks will know what that hole in the tab is for. It's not a "hack", it's what was intended. A better hack is to teach folks how to remove the cap of a glass beer bottle when it's not screwable. Place the rim of the bottle top on a hard surface and then whack it with the palm of your hand. Bottle cap removed. Been doing that for 40 years. Love the potato masher hack for ground beef! Also that greater for hard butter!. I never thought of that. What I'd like to see if a future video are hacks that our elders used. They, many times, didn't have access to fancy things like measuring spoons. I learned to measure a half teaspoon, a teaspoon, a half table spoon and tablespoon, as well as a quarter cup in my hand. My great grandmother never ever measured anything with a measuring device. One day, when she was making pie crust, I challenged her. She had the measuring devices and didn't ever use them. She measured in her hand and then I checked with the cups and measuring spoons and she was spot on every time. And that's when I started paying close attention. So, do you think you can come up with old-fashioned hacks that have stood the test of time for at least 200 years? My great grandmother learned from her mom, and her mom learned from her mom, so that the skill was passed down for at lest 200 years ... all the way to me. I almost never "measure" anything. It's all by eye and smell ... what smells like it will go with what smells I've already gotten going. That's how cooking happened 200 years ago. Can you make some kind of video about that so that this generation can benefit from the old ways?

The chicken hack is cool. I will try it with a rotisserie chicken even though I know that I can peal it by putting the chicken in a plastic bag and smash it to remove the bones without dirtying my hands😊. I like that you can remove the whole skin your way. I like stainless steal pans but I fear the food will stick and will be hard to remove but now I that I have your hack, I think I will go ahead and buy one. Wow wee! I'm 71 and can't wait to cut up my first whole raw chicken and sharpen my stick blender and peelers! Just last week I noticed my favorite peeler was dulling. I figured I'd have to throw it out and get a new one. Not any more, thanks.

A good, easy "hack" to keep cooked pasta as good a freshly cooked: when you first cook the pasta and drain it put a small drop of oil or butter and stir to make sure all the pasta is coated. It will stop the pasta from drying or sticking and any leftover pasta will be good to be added to whatever you're cooking the next day.

If you mix in a couple tablespoons of pasta sauce after stirring the butter through, it makes it even better. Nonno taught me that one. 😊

By adding oil to the pasta, it prevents whatever sauce you use from sticking to the pasta so I never do this.

@@denisetarabori553 It works for me as taught by Nonno. Stir in butter, while on the hot-plate, for 45 seconds, add a wee bit of sauce - just enough to stick to the pasta - stir and it's perfect. I don't use oil tho'. I save some pasta water for the pot of sauce, too; add fresh basil to sauce and . . . ottimo!
