NOBO Appalachian Trail Maine - The Finale Part 6 of 9

It's my last section hike on the Appalachian Trail! Hike number 26. Join me as I backpack through the 100 Mile Wilderness, into Baxter State Park, and summit Katahdin. In this episode, which covers day 6, I enjoy one of the most beautiful days on trail, even though I encounter some rain. I pass Nahmakanta Lake, climb Nesuntabunt Mountain, see Crescent Pond, Pollywog Gorge, and Rainbow Stream before taking a short side trail to camp at Rainbow Lake Dam.

Flower, around the 3:30 mark, you exemplified why all of us who follow you are such fans. Your comment about the weather, something along the lines of, "we have no reception so we have no idea what it's going to be like so we just keep on going." Kudos, my friend. Why sweat what you can't do a thing about. Just keep on doing what you're doing. And God bless. You be proud of yourself; we're proud of you, and happy for you. Be safe and God bless.

Thank you! It makes me think about the times before we had long range and minute by minute forecasts at our fingertips on our phones. People for thousands of years maybe tried to read the sky a little bit and then just rolled with whatever weather came their way.

The mirror reflection in the ponds was beautiful. Always a challenge to keep your feet from getting muddy/wet before camp. You've earned the right to proclaim your self pride after a journey like this.

About 3 years ago I read grandma gatewood bio and was hooked on the A. T. (I'm 67) Your channel was one of the first I found and then I was really hooked. You have shown the beauty of the nature of the trail. I wish you could write a book of all the wild flowers and creatures of the trail. Also, thank you for your service.

Certainly a beautiful section of trail and challenging. You should be proud of doing what very few will ever accomplish and completely be able to appreciate. And that campsite at the end of your day was truly beautiful!!!

No worries about the camera fogging. Views are superb. “The credit belongs to person who is actually in the arena who strives valiantly with great enthusiasm and great devotion who at best knows the triumph of achievement” and the glory of victory. Bravo to you and your successful arduous, incredibly challenging endeavor. Cheers to your strong willed determination and your unyielding spirit to keep moving forward despite formidable hardships. I think the Brothers Grimm coined the phrase “something out of a fairy tale”. Nature’s reward was worth the brutal extras miles. Accolades to your great planned campsite. Be well. Wishing you peace, safe passage and good fortune ahead. Happy Trails!

You should be very proud… that trail is beautiful and rewarding, but taxing physically and mentally. I’m weird.. as I’d rather descend… I’m with you on not liking the ascent. I make it so hard on myself with the dread… lol Beautiful hike. Thank you so much for allowing us along. It’s truly a gift!! You are almost done and I’m sure that you have much reflection with every step..✌️❤️

Maine sure is beautiful with all those refreshing streams and beautiful lakes but those rock and muddy trails would be dangerous and hard on the body and feet. It would be very easy to get discouraged. Great video and thanks for sharing! Be careful have fun and enjoy your hike😎 🙏

I am so surprised to hear you say that you hate climbing up mountains!😮 But have been for years, climbing the Appalachian range through and through. It is a major accomplishment! And you should be proud of yourself. Also, it totally makes sense. You went to extra mileage to park your tent by the lake. Beautiful! Sure hope you heard some loons. 🌸🧡
