I will say that Xalatath saying 'the world soul so long denied me' doesn't necessarily mean Azeroth was denying her, or didn't want to be claimed. That is one way of interpreting it, but given that we have multiple instances of images suggesting that Azeroth is somehow imprisoned (or kept sleeping) by the Titans, another, possibly more likely, interpretation is that the Titans' prisons and machines are keeping the world soul from Xalatath.

I like the fact that she speaks highly of the mortals of Azeroth, almost respectfully. Understanding our resolve and hardships, knowing not to take us lightly.

Crazy speculation time. The Titans prevented Azeroth from awakening as she was nearly corrupted by the Old God infection, and their machinery has been both cleansing her of Void energy as well as pumping her full of Order in an attempt to turn her into one of them. That machinery was damaged or broken by the climaxes of Legion and Shadowlands, and Azeroth is breaking free but might now be vulnerable to Xal'atath claiming her, as she might have been about to do before the Titans arrived on the scene...

I loved the callbacks to the original 2004 trailer. Honestly her voice even sounds fairly similar to the original voiceover and I wonder whether that's intended, alluding that perhaps she was the voice of the narrator ever watching us.

11:45 No. "The world soul, so long denied me" Is ambiguous, it can mean "has so long denied me" but it can also mean "that was so long denied me" as in from a third entity/party.

let's just wait until the german version comes out, we have at least clear grammar and morphosyntax. just that the voice acting always sucks ass, cuz they let every character talk in such a cringy way like kalec did during his family and love rant. just that we had to endure such dialogues for an eternity 🙈 EDIT: ok, this time, it is 1:1 the same as in english, which is a but weird cuz u have to wait long for the right images to finish the sentences (that have a different word order than english) -- but EXACTLY at that part, they use a different verb / construction that ALSO could mean both ways -.- " ..well done blizz

I really love that they honored WoW's past with the flashbacks from previous cinematics. It felt like a respectful nod to the earlier games (and the OG players' experiences) while also leading us into the next phase. I'm so pumped. Also the voice acting is SO GOOD.

@@AvelineMelena I mean, in some respects sure, I can see your point. But you try to make a game with 20+ years of lore without any retconning. Good luck lol Personally, I'd rather take a thought out retcon over a janky-ass story any day. Blizzard has a history of not respecting their playerbase and I understand that a lot of people need to "see it to believe it" but I think they've made a concerted effort the last year to fix that, and I don't see how holding grudges and shitting on everything they do is going to help make the game better.

Xal symbols are Void language you can see at Ny'alotha, the ones around the ring are a mix of titan runes (found on any titan facility, like the rings that imprisoned Rasageth) and some other more complex runes. Also the light of the worldsoul when it shines through the shadows looks like the orange of N'zoth.

@@raydafuq3570 The funny thing is, some of the ''domination'' runes on the jailer face are just normal titan runes you can see at the seat of the pantheon, we only know like 7 domination runes and there's none of that on titan facilities or rasageth's prison afaik. The only domination rune seen on anything related to the titans is the one resembling a ''3'' on old Sargeras art (on his gloves and his old sword)

@@Kross415 it's on Frostmourne as I said in my comment before. If you check Titan Prison, Seat of the Pantheon, Frostmourne and Runecarver Platform the runes aren't that different and there are multiple that look nearly identical. It's not distinct enough to definitely say it isn't there.

This is a spoiler I got from a reputable source who was right about the ending of Legion as well as Dragonflight, but take it with a grain of salt though. Xal'atath is actually a world soul herself, similar to Argus. She's the world soul of K'aresh, who was consumed by the Void Lord Dimensious, and then turned into a slave of the Void Lords. Her free will was stripped from her, and she was forced to track down other world souls for the Void Lord's to consume. During the Black Empire, she was in charge of finding Azeroth's soul, and when she found the soul, Azeroth somehow gave her back her free will, which led her to want to protect Azeroth by fighting the old gods currently on Azeroth. Since the void lord stripped her of most of her power, she was too weak to win, and was then imprisoned in the blade. It seems like her mission is to earn the favor of the Void Lord's, while in secret conspiring against them so she can save azeroth. I was also told that she teamed up with Iridicon so they could summon the Titan's to azeroth, so they would fight the Void Lords for her. If her plans succeeds, she'll have both the titans and void lords dead, as well as freed azeroth from slavery. Also Azeroth is her sister

11:00 When TWW was announced, there were a bunch of posts of Reddit talking about how the various logos of the Worldsoul Saga expansions (specifically TWW and The Final Titan) looked a LOT like the Titan prisons used to imprison the Primal Aspects. When we see them breaking free in the Vault of the Incarnates finale, people have pointed out that several of those frames look a lot like what we see in the reveal cinematic for TWW: some sort of glowing ball (what we presume is Azeroth's soul) surrounded by spinning Titan rings. These are the kind of hints we were looking for back in WoD/Legion, and quite often they ended up going nowhere, but I hope that with success stories like FNAF, devs have realized that there's engagement in speculation, and dropping actual hints gives people stuff to talk about. So I hope they're actually leaning into the ARG-esque elements and it isn't just all presentation.

I don’t know who came up with her eyes but they are stunning.

The runes on Xalatath look like the Runes from Ny'alotha. The runes at "darkness calls" are the same style as in Torghast/Zovaal and The Lich King i think. And the Runes around the planet are probably the "prison" that was made by the Titans. (titan runes).

The opening monologue reminds me of Galadriel in the beginning of Fellowship of the ring.

Look at the dark cloud around the world soul. That's the shape of the Dark Heart. Those tentacles are reaching out from it.

I would like to believe that Xal'atath is actually a being, fused from the four essences of the Old Gods. Y'shaarj, had a great plan for his eventual defeat and collected the essence of his brothers, enchanting it in his own claw.

I like the idea that when Azeroth awakens it becomes the Titan and the crust of the world shatters similar how Draenor did. Which old Titans know but won't tell us as we would try preventing that. But when she awakens, the Titans worked so far to get her to her side and control her as its told she is the most powerful out of them. Yet something similar knows Xalatath (maybe being from one of the old world) trying to prevent the control from Titans but when she is at it she tries to get the control.

I wonder if the world breaking apart in the title card isn’t just symbolic. Midnight and The Last Titan will be taking us back to the old world, so maybe The War Within will have a huge impact on the old world and we’ll see a Cataclysm-style rework for the Worldsoul saga to go back to.

Regardless of all its other flaws, the Shadowlands cinematic still hits me with a bit of awe when the sky shatters.

It’s so weird doing speculation for War Within because for the first time ever we know what we’re getting after it, as well as the one after that. We know where we’re going in the future just not how we get there so seeing how the story plays out is going to be much different than every other previous expansion

I honestly think THIS should've been the trailer we saw at BlizzCon, and then we could have the "That sword was aimed at someone" trailer now, here. I think that would've worked loads better for hype and for comprehension of what the hell the expansion's about and who the antagonist is

I like the idea that you Said about the world being ”contained” with the outer shield, when you look from the outside pov there are dmg on the outer sides meaning maybe the forces that has tried to break the world free but hasnt been able to yet

The glyphs on Xal's face are the same ones you see on lots of the obelisks and banners of the Black Empire in BfA when you do the whole N'zoth thing. I assume that is Shath'Yar. It would be really cool if we could figure out what is actually inscribed on her body, but since there's no official alphabet for Shath'Yar, that seems an impossibility.

You can also see the titan rings around the world soul, they appear blurry. But they look like the ones that were around the primal incarnates.

What if the world soul inside Azeroth was the equivalent of a Light Lord but was halfway through the process of being stolen by void back when the black empire was a thing...... and the Titans arriving were the only ones able to stop that process. And then maybe it was going to take titan machinery and time to reverse that void theft...... and that is why so many Titans and titan keepers and titan maidens were so fine and dandy with using Light and Holy magic and even instructing the mortals on Azeroth with how to use it? If the old gods and void forces consider the Titans to be an "enemy of all" then Titans making a bargain with the Light to cleanse the world soul of shadow corruption could very well fit the old god whisper of "the Light has made a bargain with the enemy of all"

I hope they do a endwalker thing,instead xal being the final boss of the war within,she uses the darkheart to summon the true final boss (like gul dan in hellfire citadel),that being dimensius (wich sure is a treat but not a compeling character,just an all devouring thing),then will kill him and by doing that he becomes a voidgate,that opens the way to midnight

Nah, Endwalker was a fine expansion but the 11th hour villain in Meteion was incredibly weak - it gave the impression they didn't fully know where they were going with it or the writing for the character just wasn't great. Please no unknown villain popping up at the last minute - anything but an unknown.

I take the whole tentacle thing and xalatath saying she was denied as the 4 old gods (4 tentacles shown) that have been trying to claim azeroth while she was locked away. Also her eyes actually reflecting the world soul as it was going around her that's why the glow isn't consistent. At first i thought it was reflection of the moon but it's the soul.

I wonder if the re-use of dialogue from the original Vanilla cinematic isn't just a call back for hypes sake, but a hint that Xal was the character actually narrating that cinematic!

@@siddhianishkala4543 But Maiev was in Illidan's prison cell in Outland when Classic takes place, so she couldn't be a narrator as she hasnt been on Azeroth for those entire four years and not again for another 2-3 years.

I think you might be on to something with the logo. IF you look at the logo for the next expansion, Midnight, The logo is more destroyed and falling apart. Then for the expansion, The Last Titan, the logo is then imprisoned in one of the floating titan orb prisons.

Speculation: Xalatath is a void-titan pilot, the person who becomes a titan. She was "so long denied" by the Titans destroying the Black Empire.

The voice actress is so well casted for her role.

Placing my bet now that Xalatath is the Void side of Elune's Light/Void cycle that she had purged to become a "Goddess" and is now her own entity.

I had the exact same thought that the rings are keeping Azeroth (the planet) from blowing up and keepig the titan inside.

I think "so long denied me" is just her fancy way of saying that all her attempts to claim the world soul have been denied or have failed, and now it will finally be hers, not that azeroth has been actively and consciously denying her

She doesnt seek to bring freakin dimensius she seeks to take azeroths place. She seeks power.

Whatever the story is, I feel like it's inevitable that the foundational lore we were told between Sargeras and the Titans was not the way things actually went down. Separately, it feels heavily implied that this story is all about the coming together of the Void and the Light. Could Xal and Azeroth be two sides of the same coin? Complete speculation.

The symbols on the circle around Azeroth in the logo look very much like the symbols used on the Titan prisons (especially if you compare the images we have for Vault of the Incarnates knowing Tyr helped imprison the Incarnates) so that makes me think they imprisoned Azeroth for a reason (whether good or otherwise) and with them not being on Azeroth for some time the prison is weakening or Xalatath has been weakening it with her pawns over time.

This is getting me hyped way too much 🤪 About those final seconds…what if, while playing WW, we end up realizing that Azeroth awakening means the end of the planet ergo us. So we, the players end up activating that titan cord to keep the planet from becoming Outland 2.0? That would be a plot twist 😂 can’t wait to see where it goes

Regarding the ring in the logo, it's interesting that whilst in ther first two logos (TWW and Midnight) the ring is breaking and then broken, however, in The Last Titan a second ring is added and the first is repaired. If I were to speculate judging by that theme, we're being lead to believe that this saga is a fight for the worldsoul and against the void, and I think it is in the beginning. However, I think we get our ass kicked by the void, we lose in TWW and I wouldn't be surprised if we make very little progress in Midnight too. Only to be saved by the Titans at the end of Midnight. Though, we're not saved, we find out the Titans are just as bad, sure they beat back the void but now we have a whole new problem (hence the repaired ring and new ring added in the TLT logo) and TLT will be about fighting back against the Titans and breaking free from their order to forge our own path. This also leaves the void still on the table and not truly defeated for later down the line.

How long have those rings been a thing in a WoW expansion logo though? cause Nobbel bringing them up just made me realize there's symbols on Cataclysm's as well. unfortunately the ones on cata are too small to see if they're at all similar.

My guess is that this saga will be about us losing in some form and WoW 2 will probably come after with possibly Azeroth being a threat and mortals scattered across different worlds

Are those symbols not to do with the void? Considering the Ner'zhul had them in his dungeon and then the lich king around the circle which in past before jailer was linked to Ner'zhul.

Can you do a catchup lore video, to people coming back to wow? Like what happened to the characters in the last expansions, what is their status.

So by cinematic I would say this is last expansion of wow we know so far. Looking change of Aleria for example and Anduin , some characters added with huge similarity as Diablo characters would say next expansion can be in that direction with futuristic touch.

DAMN, the voice acting on the italian version is SUBERB, so much emotion and character in the voice of Xal'atath -- u dont even need to understand the language to really feel that, check it out u'll thank me about the line "so long denied me" -- this is rendered there as "che mi è stata negata per troppo tempo" = which has been negated~denied to me for far too long", hence unambigeously denied by an external actor.

For me the most intriguing part of this trailer is she saying "denied ME" and "shall be MINE" instead of "denied US" and "shall be OURS".

When we gonna get a nice friendly no fighting, farming and harvesting expansion. :)

I don't think the titans want Azeroth to be "free" hence the titan ring around the cracking planet. Maybe they know something we don't. Maybe she won't be so down to comply with the whole titan regime, or any regime for that matter. The very definition of "free spirit", hence why all these forces (void, fel, titan etc.) want to get to her first. To manipulate her on their side.

Maybe Xalathat is a part of Azeroth? A aspect of her? And so is Elune?

100% - there's no way we get through a final saga without all of the key foundational lore characters in there somehow.

I really want Xal to win, like maybe we defeat her but she wins in that she is able to set into motion the events of Midnight and/or The Last TItan.

to me, it looks like the world soul is reaching out towards xal when the purple swirls start coming in. as if shes been waiting for her all along

I've thoguht for a while that the planet would crack like a hatching egg if Azeroth ever woke up. The ring containing it is an interesting thought. The ring is basically the titan prisons from DF. Perhaps all the titan installations were intended to keep Azeroth from awakening? And Xal'atath intends to make it happen? Ok super crazy thought. What if nothing is real? I mean, all the cosmic stuff. It's all just parts of Azeroth's mind, dreams, made manifest by her immense power. She wakes up, it all ends. This is like, a third layer to the "war within"

Meybe the old gods aren't really trully void beings but a way for titans to trap the true void entity that is trying to take controll of azeroth as in: A void entity is send to Azeroth, the titans discover them, they trap it into smaller fragments aka the old gods, stunning them as they are no longer one being, Y'Shaarj was the only part being the closest to getting back to this being's true power, and a "claw of Y'Shaarj", a tiny framgent of the true void being gets trapped inside a blade as to not be detected, the old gods are inprisoned to further controll them, and Xal is the void entity that was shattered to the old gods we know today, that's why she says that azeroth tried to deny her for so long.

After watching this, here's my far-out theory: Over the course of the Black Empire, the Old Gods had spent a lot of time corrupting Azeroth. When the Titans arrived, that void corruption was purged and Xal IS that corruption- a physical embodiment of a corrupted Azeroth, much like how the Sunwell was given a physical body way back when. Now she's trying to finish the job, to merge with Azeroth to become the being she almost was before being purged. Almost like a dark mirror to Azeroth.

She said "denied", not "denying". So it could be that it's *her* soul, in some way. Maybe the world soul was taken from her by someone. Possibly the titans. Also, the ring is fractured in 3 places, and as it slides into place, those 3 places align with the fissures on the planet, which might mean that, instead of it being a barrier enclosed on it, it's a metaphor for the shell cracking. They just slid it into place because it looked cool. A ring with 3 cracks in it isn't going to contain anything. All that aside, the fact that they say the "final battle" makes me believe that there's actually some kind of *end* coming. I want it to be the end of WoW, i.e. the last (set of) expansion(s), so that WoW 2 (or whatever) can take center stage.

what if the old gods in azeroth went rogue, and xalatath was a shard from a void lord (dimensius etc). That's why they sealed her in the blade, so that she wont be able on snitch them to the void lords. That's why she says "the world soul so long denied me"
