When Thrall needed airbending the most, it vanished

every shaman knows you get your wind totem last back in the day.

Thrall, maybe the problem is that you are using a tauren shaman totem and not an orc one.

One thing I've realised with the thrall section is that it almost mirrors Gul'dan's harbringer cinematic. Just think that's neat :)

The visualization of Thrall and the elements look a lot like how the Elements treated Gul'dan (and retreated from him) in his Harbinger animation for Legion. With Gul'dan the elements approached but seemed to quickly recoil as the tried to approach them. With Thrall the elements instead just dissipated into the surrounding ether. Will THrall struggle with a Gul'dan arc where he must decide to stay strong?

The Void (Alleria), the Light (Anduin) the Arcane (Jaina), the Elements (Thrall) and even Azeroth (Magni) itself won't withstand Xal'atath is what I took from this cinematic. As for the elemental representation, if you look closer at the Earth, the wind is blowing the rocks across the screen. Yellow is often the associated symbol to air, alongside the strands of a wind current that's being animated to show movement. I think this is clever because Earth & Wind are the only two that can come together in an animation and make senses, whereas Fire & Water counter the other.

I believe it was left out on purpose. Guldans harbinger cinematic displays earth the same as thralls. There is visible air in guldans but not in thralls

Man, comparing the quality of this cinematic to, for example the MoP intro one since Remix is going on, it's such a crazy leap. Really cool to see and gives me hope for more in-game storytelling. Or if not in-game, at least more story videos on KZread.

I think a hint in this trailer about what the Dark Heart does is it allows the wielder to view whatever they want or whoever they want based off the initial view to see Alleria through the dark heart

Jaina may be lined up to be the next guardian of Azeroth. She’s looking like Medivh in that shot.

you can't see the wind, but right when Thrall rage-fists the ground, you can definitely hear it...

Xal'atath giving that smirk smile has got to be the best highlights of this trailer.

Regarding the Thrall and elements thing.....I had some thoughts. Since it seems likely and implied that Yogg-Saron corrupted Loken who in turn made it possible to corrupt some dragon eggs under Uldorus which in turn got mutated into the primal incarnate elemental dragons...... who ironically chose visage forms as Klaaxi and Qiraji and Nerubian....... then they could be deceived and tricked by Yogg-Saron into being angry at the Titans for false reasons. And they could be used as a way of disabling Alexstrasza with doubt and regret and inaction. Same as N'Zoth figured out a way to disable Neltharion from fulfilling his job. And same as C'thun figured out a way to disable Nozdormu from fulfilling his job. And same that an unspecified Old God figured out a way to disable Malygos from fulfilling his job. Just showing up as an old god army always seemed to fail, so they just figured out the emotional and mental weaknesses of all the Dragon Aspects meant to stop the hour of twilight. Yogg-Saron was big on elemental cults and that shows through with the primal incarnates; so if Iridikron is still out there and Vyranoth was empowered by cosmic team Life.... then that is two different ways that the elements could be unstable or unresponsive or otherwise refusing to respond to Thrall as an Orc. Orcs, we should remind ourselves, which are the result of a Titan Aggramar turning Draenor rocks and earth into ordered Breakers that were instinctually designed to be aggressive and furious because they were supposed to be a counterbalance to the evil Plant Borg Collective monsters otherwise known as the Primals. And while continuing their eternal struggle, getting corrupted by cosmic team Life magic to divide the Breakers into Gronn, and then into Ogron, and then into Ogres, and then into Orcs. So Iridikron could be interfering in the Earth responding to Thrall because Iridikron knows Thrall is titan ordered. Or, the cosmic team Life which tricked us in Amirdrassil could be using those world trees to interfere with the elements responding to Thrall because they recognize him as what prevented their dominance on Draenor. Maybe, if Thrall is going to have any major part in this War Within story, he needs to go down below and discover those evil cosmic team Life plant roots burrowing themselves deeper into Azeroth with Life spies trying to hide them..... and then fight to stop them just like the ancient Orcs stopped the Primals on Draenor. And then Thrall could regain his connection to the Elements here on Azeroth.

the jaina bit is exsplained in the void quest line the dark hart can convert magic into void hence using magic againt it might be like using fuel to put out a fire. . . thinking about it that might be how she destroys dalaran since it floats using magic convert that to void and ... bye bye dalaran ?

the wind representation is the flow of the elements if you listen you can hear it

There's scene in Harbingers - Gul'dan where he's at the throne of the elements in alternate Draenor and it looks identical to this minus the air element. Hmm... (Correction, Guldan had the air element Thrall doesn't.)

Anduin becoming more and more like his father, Warrior with so many scars, just if he stop waining like a baby it would be great

Why is it that all these characters are so co-dependent. I find it hard to believe that any if them can go on a journey of self discovery because they're characters are so intertwined at this point where one thing can't happen to another character without the others reacting in some way shape or form. What reason does thrall really have to play dad #3 to anduin? Because they happen to meet a couple of times? They don't know each other like that and we are seeing thrall walk through portals halfway across the world just for the sake of pep talks with anduin.

They've met more than a few times lol. Anduin was head of the Alliance even if it was just in name while Thrall was Warchief and both would meet to keep the peace. It's not like they just met each other two expansions ago.

I heard that the ritual Magni used had nothing to do with his ability to communicate with Azeroth. The ritual Magni used was what the Earthen used to beat the curse of flesh. He used a ritual he wasn't supposed to use.

i mean the Shamans/Thralls warcry is "Storm, Earth and Fire heed my call!" so you just need those 3, those that Water looked pretty calm i think thats what it represents.

I would say alleria is pulling a tyranda, not necessarily in a magic ritual way, but after the destruction of Dalaran and the "death" of khadgar, this is her throwing everything away to chase after the harbinger, like tyranda did with sylvanis.

Hey Nobbel not sure if you'll see this but wanted to see if you had an opinion on what if Void Lords are just World Souls being infused with Void energy. Naaru being world souls full of light. Etc.

The visuals of the elements with Thrall is extremely similar to the visuals used in the Gul’dan animated short. That has to be intentional, right?

Could Xalatath be a herald for the Void Lord's? Kind of like how Duran/Narud was for Amon in Starcraft.

Perhaps Alleria goes though some transformation event similar to how Tyrande transformed into the Night Warrior.

I hope we get a short story of Thrall, before War Within. It'd be interesting as a horde player to read into his approach to the Radiant Song, his motivations, and learn a bit more of what he's been up to. Maybe he can get DOOMHAMMER back?! It is a weapon that was prophecied to HIM alone. He's the iconic LEADER of the Horde, (standalone Council is not working out at all), its very soul and ambition of unity. Even Gazlowe's short story mentions what a great leader he was during his time and how compassionate he is.

Here it is, the old gods aren't really dead or gone, Xal will release them all, and BOOM, midnight. It's flawless right! ... maybe i'm insane.

I thought the Jaina one was pretty obvious? They are referring to her having immense power, but at the same time always feeling powerless. No matter how much power she obtains, she pretty frequently fails in protecting those she care about still. It's not meant literally in the cinematic, all of the characters that Xalatath talks about she says something about their inner struggles. Quite literally "the war within"

Thrall seemed kinda enthusiastic about the storm rooks in the alpha, maybe its because the element of air was the first to "abandon" him, and he is trying to reconnect?

I don’t know if it’s just me, but the animation feels.. weird?? Im assuming it’s because it’s not the fully polished cinematic look and more of the in-game style, but it just feels strange. I’m an artist so I may just notice it more.

Start of the year, but departure wasn't till like March, if I recall. She made a tweet about it when it first happened, as her nephew had died of cancer that same month and she was handling things pretty rough. It wasn't a problem with her in particular, but rather them firing the entire old lore department supposedly.

my interpretation of what happened to thrall (although probably not canon) is that he forced the elements to kill garrosh aka he performed dark shamanism and thats why the elements dont hear him anymore. Also he not being able to use Doomhammer is an alegory of mjolnir.

Hiya Nobbel, this might have been already seen and discussed but when it comes to Thrall, if you watch the cinematic where he finishes Garrosh in WoD, right before he uses the elements there is a shot where his eyes glow red, very similar to the description of the text when you talk to young Saurfang back in TBC in Nagrand where he talks about how he fought off the invaders, a little text at the bottom state that a faint red glow appeared in his eyes. I have always wondered if Thrall's loss of control of the element came from the fact that he got into a "bloodlust" and forced the elements to do his bidding to kill Garrosh or not

Oh, it's nice to know what happens with Magni. Whether I agree with that choice or not. ;)

Three things, first off I honestly thought that was Vereesa as her hair is exactly how Valeera always keeps hers and the armor is 100% Vereesa's, like she's looking for Aleeria. Second, as for "you revel in power yada yada" the whole quest line of Illidan in the past in Legion shows that arcane and regular magic in general, has a VERY finite amount of power. There is a power cap where you can't breach the ceiling without sacrificing mages to fuel the spells. Even someone that was born with special gifts that was considered to be one of the strongest magi ever sacrificed everyone under him to gain enough power to fight the fel.. Jaina with her magic has fallen time and time again to stronger powers, fel, death magic in the shadowlands etc.. Magic in Warcraft is weak and limited with a hard end point to the amount of damage you can do unless you change what powers it which steps out of being a mage an into the shoes of a warlock or shaman.. the fel, the elements, and the dark powers of death/pestulence are FAR stronger than magic. Thirdly.. anyone else notice the fel color in the Earth element line while Thrall is trying to commune with the elements? Like the fel that's a part of him may be interfering somehow?

Thralls elements are almost exactly like guldan's in his harbringer cinematic. Guldan's does show the element of air, thralls does not
