Everybody has his/her own problem. Not everybody can afford leisure. I buy books but can hardly afford a proper accommodation (my place is always noisy) that would allow me to read the books I buy. Also, I am surrounded by people who NEVER read. I don't like that. Internet is the only place I can go to and talk about books

Chomsky's answer is perfectly in sync with anarchist thinking. Who is he to tell you what to read? Anarchism is ultimately about enlightenment.

Read history books. The only way to understand humans is by reading about what they did, not about what they should do.

My question would be: Who decides what humans did? Reading Howard Zinn's People's History will offer very different answers than those offered by orthodox historians using the top-down hero model.

He’s right, it depends on our own interests, genres and passion. Some people like literature while others likes history etc. it really depends on what we like to know and what captivates us want to read.
