Noah Cyrus ON: FOCUS ON YOURSELF, NOT OTHERS - Stop Negative Thoughts & Build SELF LOVE

Today I sit down with the very amazing Noah Cyrus. Noah is a Grammy award-nominee, multi platinum, Nashville-born and Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter. Emerging in 2016 at the age of 16, she immediately captivated audiences with platinum singles "Make Me (Cry)" and Again. Noah teamed up with PJ Harding for the People Don't Change EP in 2021. Along the way, she performed at Coachella twice, while Billboard named her among its "21 Under 21" for three straight years. She also shined on The Late Late Show with James Corden, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Ellen, and The Today Show. Now, she introduces the next chapter with the "I Burned LA Down".
Noah shares to us a vulnerable side of her and how music has helped her heal from her past. Growing up she mentioned that self-love and self-acceptance was something that she never really practiced and is still a difficult thing to do at the present but she is a work in progress and even though life is full of ups and downs, she is moving forward. We also exchanged our thoughts on why change is inevitable for people and how we can be comfortable with it. Noah herself experienced a life changing experience and I am so honored to hear her story.
What We Discuss:
00:00:00 Intro
00:03:53 “I just wish the days are longer”
00:07:02 Healing our inner child
00:10:23 Self-acceptance and self-love
00:13:57 Healing through music
00:19:03 Falling out of love
00:23:27 Do people change?
00:28:23 Life changing experience
00:34:11 Worshiping other people
00:38:53 “I can” mentality

I totally feel her!! She got used to people telling her what to think, do or feel at such a young age because of her fame and career, like her team and even the public/social media, that after a long time, she almost forgot how to ask for what she truly needs. I feel so much for her, as an only child I can relate to this. Becoming self sustaining can be a learning curve, but she will get there little by little.

Wow. When he says-confident people rarely feel confident. Thats a game changer right there... Cause every time you want to do something completely new, you are scared sh*tless, but people stand on the outside and see the bravery. You cant sit around waiting to feel confident enough, it will never happen. If you want to extend your comfort zone, you have to accept that there is fear involved!

I've never looked into Noah or her music but hearing her talk as I'm doing laundry I think, "theres another human being going through the same thoughts and emotions I experience on a daily basis" which is so comforting and empowering. Thank you for this platform, Jay, and thank you, Noah, for sharing your vulnerability. ❤

I love how open she was I related so hard with the struggle on doubting myself heavily and not believing in myself and I love how she described progess as in a circle it can go up and down and that really helped me see that it’s okay to have my moments of feeling down and not beat up on myself about it that it’s valid for me to feel down thank you Noah for sharing your story and for being so open I really loved this episode it was so helpful for me rn at a time where I’m going through growth and change and just needed to hear that there’s others out there Ofcourse who experience feeling doubt towards themselves too and that I’m not alone in this ❤

Being a fan of Noah since 5/6 years ago - now that listening herself to reveal about what was happening for the past years, it really connected the dots in my mind and makes me be able to relate to her even more I personaly experienced some very very dark and down moments in the last few years and I was very close to the edge of making some bad decisions - I’ve been openly sharing my experience with people right now because I hope that my sharing could make people understand that whatever is happening to them, they are definately not alone, and there will always be a turning point

I have been listening to Jay's podcasts with celebrities.. but this one hits differently. I can feel her genuinity and her experience that she went through... but some other interview with other celebrities somehow hit differently, feels like they talked about the topic of self love or spirituality as like a trend or something like that, and doesn't feel so genuine.. this one is good. I don't know about Noah very much, but I can feel her energy is sincere 🥰

I find the point about not considering yourself to be a God really interesting. I think we should work toward the idea of being 'Godly' by embodying the messages and sentiments of the various sacred texts, and adopting principles that have remained true throughout millennia. We should absolutely avoid considering ourselves to be actual Gods, however, for that idea can quickly spiral into full blown egotism, narcissism, and arrogance. Very interesting discourse - mad respect to Noah for her honesty and authenticity.

I'd like to think that I have a similar mindset to that and you mentioned a bit on how you unlearned that and not worship others... I'd love some clarity on that as I feel it would be of great help to me! I'm pretty sure you might have discussed it before so from my side, I'll search for it. I'd appreciate a referral to it😊

People really don’t know or probably know but don’t really care. For people to sit down and talk about these issues and bleeding blessings torn effects from feelings and emotions we are going through with someone. Besides our therapist, doctor, mom, dad or someone we are comfortable with trust about these personal things.
