NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic & Meteorological Laboratory conducts hurricane research in order to better understand tropical cyclones, improve forecasts, and protect lives and property. The hurricane hunters fly into storms to gather critical data. The Altius 600 by Anduril is one of the uncrewed aircraft systems that NOAA is experimenting with to measure areas of the storm too dangerous for humans.
