Miami may be underwater by 2100

Ғылым және технология

Miami is one of the first US cities to experience the effects of climate change. But they’re not the only one. Several locations around the world face a grim future if climate change remains unabated.

Paul Phillips Nope our biggest threat isn't from the seas, it's from the rivers. More precipitation and glaciers melting will mean more pressure on the rivers and, as the sealevel rises, it will be much harder to deposit the water as the sea would pretty much be above the river.

I stay in Mumbai very close to the coastline and I am scared. In 2006 when we had record Rainfall the entire city went submerged for days. You probably wouldnt know Mumbai is the first largescale man made city wich was landfilled in the 1800s between 7 natural islands and now its all one. U would think it's just a city but it's population is equal to all of Australia.

Compound that with the demographic bubble in many at risk countries and areas and we have political chaos in addition to the woes of the rising sea level. I fear for the next 84 years.

Marty Anderson They don't say it's man made any more, but it's undeniable that we're having a negative effect. It would have happened regardless, but it's happening at a much faster pace than it would naturally because of the crap we pump into the atmosphere. Plus, it's bad for our general health anyway so that alone is reason to find cleaner more efficient ways to do things.

I notice that with vegetation that grows around my house. Nature wants her land back and in the end,. she will win. I read where the Mississippi River wants to move Westerly and the Corp of Engineers is trying to stop it. Who do you think will win?

I won't be alive by 2100 and I have nothing to do with Miami. I live in an inner city. I don't care.

Haha how stupid. It would take all of the ice sheets to melt, and a couple hundred years for this to actually be a problem.

Oh well. We'll be dead by then. But you kids and grandkids won't. WHY the hell aren't we doing more about this? I mean, it's like we're tryna cramp it all in for the last few years. It's only bloody 80 years away. People need to be doing more, not buying bloody iPhones 6Ss. Wow, it's like they what us to die like this. Talking about it to the people expecting them to feel bad will never work. Now we need to force them to do something. Then again, maybe it's better that way.
