I have this problem and also it doesn't record audio in videos I take.

Oh, I LOVE YOU!!!! I did it by myself, just now, having started to be without sound during the 47th day of the pandemic!!! THANK YOU!!! I have no idea what triggered this and I've only had my Google Pixel 3a XL for a few months!!! What joy today!!!

Thank you! I could have never figured that out by myself. Also, the amount of settings really have grown to crazy levels. I guess credit to Google and Apple that I pretty much don't visit actual setting screen at all on iOS and Android compared to just some 4 years ago.

it feels like in everyone's rush to have unique selling points that the advantages of standardisation have been thrown out. i just spent £200 on a huawei 2021 that is nothing like the 2019 model it replaced, nothing i need works because hauwei want to be their own google. but the ppint is standardisation really helps (like with mains plugs), every video i've watched trying to troubleshoot my sound problems shows a different layout for every phone, even within the same manufacturer, very, very frustrating - i've worked with computers since 1973 so i should be capable of fixing bugs.

Great video, totally worked for me on my new phone. I was about to return the phone until I found your video.

I had this same problem on my brand new "Unidigi Power 3". No sound from the speaker and the mike not working correctly. Done all the steps on "Andriod 10" OS, and Bingo phone now works correctly. Many Thanks again.

@@mikesunboxing the problem is occurred again. Bluetooth connects to devices but does not give sound. Sometimes works, sometimes not. Might be a Bluetooth device problem in phone. Can you advice an app to check the device?

Callers cannot hear me. I am having a hard time receiving calls from interviews its making me crazy. Callers cannot hear me everytime. No matter how much they call or I shout. This also works > settings > accessibility > hearing > make sure that "turn off all sounds" is off > and do not disturb is off > then check settings > sounds and notifications to be sure that do not disturb is off > in sounds check that your sound mode is not in vibrate or silent and that volume is on. This was found in Google search.

thanks for all the helpful tips. When I'm making a phone call the person can hear me quite well however I cannot hear them it is very quiet and there is no way for me to turn the volume up so I can hear it do you know how to fix this? I think it may have occurred after I tried using headphones with my phone.

I am using Huawei Honor 8X and the calls (mobile or whatsapp) have no sound UNLESS i turn on the "loud mode"/"driving mode" whatever you call it. Then it works :))))) Also works with headphones; I tried all the solutions, but nothing works. Any ideas?

My friend was having this problem thanks to Mike was fixed in three min. We'd never have figured this out. Thanks Mike!!!

What if voice match access is already off? Restart did t help. Uninstall and reinstall phone update didn't help. Pixel 3axl

You might be best returning the device and asking for a replacement, after a factory reset it should be perfect. If not it is most likely a hardware fault rather than something that can be fixed in software

Hi Mike, Appreciate all your tips. I've tried them all - No Joy! My issue is no sound of my voice when calling the other party. Late Model UMIDIGI F1 with Android Pie. Would any of your other Subscribers have the fix for the FI? Someone suggested on a Google Pixel that Google suggested they removed the phone app and reinstall, that worked for them. Not sure I know how to do that? You are correct, this is really annoying. Thank you, David.

I do really need help about this annoying issue I'm dealing with • I have an Xperia L2 (Android 7.1.1, Nougat) • It loses its audio capacity very often. What do I mean with this? • Sometimes, I don't hear any kind of sound coming from the speakers. Even, calls are blocked • I cleaned the jack input • The receiver (Person), can't hear the WhatsApp audio on his mobile. The microphone didn't record, I guess • Even in safe mode, the issue persists If the audio is cut off randomly, probably I think, it's a software issue. The only method to temporary fix it, is to plug an earphone or alike. Please, this is driving me crazy!!!

This solution did not work for my Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, which began to have microphone issues after it updated to Android Q (10). Callers were clear as a bell but they couldn't hear me. Turns out one particular app, which had microphone access, was causing the problem. Once I denied its microphone permission, uninstalled it and restarted, everything is fine again. For some odd reason, this was the only app causing the issue. Just a heads up for folks who might not benefit from Mike's otherwise, wonderful solution....check those microphone permissions with your apps.

It didn't work, but nice that there is atleast someone providing info on how phones work. My marshmallow phone always has the phone sound off and I have never used google assistant which is off. I have missed important calls. It's stressful and there is no info.

Mike thanks for the tip. My phone would connect a call and I couldn't hear, or the other person hear me for about 2 seconds. Unfortunately the fix you gave didn't solve my issue. But after much reading and trying things I found my problem, which may be a common one and I thought I'd pass it on to you. Wifi Calling was causing the issue. If Wifi calling is on and it sees a weak phone network signal it will switch to Wifi, causing the delay. Once I shut off Wifi calling the problem went away.

Hello. I have phone on Android 5.1 as this is the only stable version and all is working well apart from the microphone. When I receive a call the ringtone occurs and i can hear the other person but they can't hear me. I also tested the mic on google but nothing happened. However, I downloaded TestYourAndroid from Play store and the mic works so I know it's got to be a firmware issue. Also I can record voice by recording app If you can help me I would be most grateful. Note. this is android 5.1 lollipop so it doesn't have full permissions mode, I can access permissions for downloaded app but not for system app such as "phone" is.

Hi Mike, I bought a Samsung galaxy 20days ago and had terrible trouble with voice dropping whilst making calls. Was about to return it but realised that when I put sim back in old phone calls clear as a bell however calls on new phone were using Volte which I understand is supposed to give better quality calls. However I turned it off in settings so calls are now made in 'traditional' mode and problem has gone. Would appear that unless one is in a very strong 4g area Volte is not efficient.

Yes very true. Disabling volte is a good way to sort out Voice problems.

I have this problem where every time someone tries to call me, I answer the call, but I cannot hear anything. I have to restart my phone, and if they call me back then it comes through properly, but it's getting very annoying. I've just done what you told me to and I hope it works.

if it works after a reboot it is a misbehaving app that is grabbing the mic or audio and not releasing it when a call comes in or is started
