Why do passports only come in four colours? Why are there Only Four Passport Colors in the World? What's the Meaning Behind Passport Colors? Why Is Your Passport The Color It Is?
Once in a while, you will run into one of those articles or videos that tells you that Passports only come in four colours, red, green, blue and black. As someone who collects passports, I can tell you that this is not true. I have seen passport covers that are in white, grey, yellow, and even pink. No kidding. These are legitimate passports issued by serious countries. Don’t believe me? I’m going to show every single one of them in this video.

Great video. The Vanuatu one was due to the law introducing the honororary citizenship. Eventually investors pushed back and the citizenship is now a normal one so the yellow passport is getting phased out.

What a shame, it would be so interesting to have a yellow passport

Interesting is the fact that in the EU is not mandatory to have a burgundy red passport. For that reason Croatia decided to stay with dark blue instead of changing it to the red. They simply added European Union on the cover and of course some pages internally to match the EU standard.

Indeed, as I mentioned, the colour was recommended by the European Parliament in multiple resolutions, and most countries followed the decision. The binding regulations are those governing the security features, proving yet again security comes before looks in passport design.

@@PassportPlanet To give some perspective, Malaysian International Passport (regular, official and diplomatic) is red in colour, all with the same hue. The dark blue one is called a Restricted Passport, used as an alternative to an International Passport for the purpose of travelling to an adjacent country. Currently, the Restricted Passport is only issued to citizens residing in East Malaysia (i.e. Sabah, Sarawak and FT Labuan) for the purpose of travelling to Brunei. It's a cheaper option for those who travels only to the adjacent country and not to other countries as a Restricted Passport costs only 1/4 of the cost for an International Passport. Previously, citizens residing in West Malaysia could apply for a Restricted Passport as an alternative to an International Passport for the purpose of travelling to Singapore but this arrangement had been discontinued 15 years ago. Citizens residing in specific districts close to the land border crossings with Thailand or Indonesia may apply for a blue-coloured Border Pass (lighter hue than a dark blue Restricted Passport) as an alternative to an International Passport for the purpose of travelling the specified adjacent country. Again, it's a much cheaper alternative for those who travels only to the adjacent country as a Border Pass costs only RM10-RM20 with a validity period of 1 year. The current green-coloured travel document is called a "Collective Travel Document In Lieu of Passport". It's an alternative to an International Passport for one time travel to Brunei, Thailand or Singapore only in a group of between 5 and 20 persons. It's again a cheaper alternative for those who does not travel frequently but are required to make a one-off travel to one of the neighbouring countries as a group (e.g. students on an exchange programme). Until about a decade ago, there was also a green-coloured Hajj Passport that was used solely for the purpose of travelling to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage. The issuance of Hajj Passport had been discontinued and pilgrims now travel to Saudi Arabia using International Passport.

I wouldn't call Kosovo pink, it seems like a lighter red caused by the material.

This has to be the dumbest video I have seen in some time. Those articles do mention that it's the CURRENT passports issued to normal civilians that only come in four colours. Passports have in the past had more colours and diplomatic and service passports today also come in other colours, but that's obviously not what the articles are talking about. So if those articles are wrong or clickbaity, so is this video.
